Absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Staff were courteous , honest and polite at all times. I was sent a video detailing the works and quoted a very reasonable price. I have collected the vehicle and driven and it’s like driving a new car! If I could give more stars I would absolutely brilliant would recommend 100 percent to any customers with vehicle issues.

Toyota aygo semi automatic .. clutch replacement…. After having a quote from A1 Tipton.. £495 for full clutch kit .. it’s what I was expecting to pay .. but would it be done right … I’m very fussy and as a diy mechanic I like to do as much as I can so trusting someone one else was very frustrating.. and Toyota wanted an extortionate amount to replace the clutch.. so decided to go with A1 .. I did make myself very clear upon leaving the car about how particularly I was . And was assured everything would be taken care of of … courtesy car was also provided.. and later that day had a phone call to say car was ready… to collect.. so arrived at A 1 to collect car I had a good long look round and everything seemed ok drove home everything seemed ok on the Saturday day after fitting I got the car on my ramps to check underneath of car for any issues .. everything looked fine .. iv waited till today Monday .. and still everything is fine .. summery!!! Can’t fault A1 at all .. not a single problem , pleasant staff really nice girl on reception.. I’d recommend them 100% ..

On Thursday 5th February, I requested a quote through their website. The form specifically asks for a preferred call-back time, which I set because I was working night shifts. Despite this, I was woken up by an early call the next day. If you offer a preferred contact time, it should be respected.

I still decided to give them a chance and called back on Saturday 7th February. I received a call on Monday 9th February, where I was quoted a price, told exactly what would be replaced, and given a clear timeframe. I was assured that if I dropped the car off on Tuesday 10th February, it would be ready by Wednesday 11th, or Thursday 12th at the very latest. I was also offered a courtesy car as I needed transport for work.

I chose this company largely based on their high feedback score on Trustpilot, however this experience has shown me how misleading those ratings can be.

I dropped my car off on Tuesday as agreed. The receptionist didn’t appear to know a courtesy car had been arranged, which delayed things slightly, but I let it go.

However, the courtesy car itself had serious issues. When driving on the motorway, the steering wheel shook violently at around 60mph, and there was a loud humming noise from the front passenger wheel. The car felt unsafe, but I had no alternative and still needed to get to work.

On Wednesday afternoon, I rang to ask for an update and whether anything else had been identified while stripping the car. I was told someone would call me back — they never did.

On Thursday morning, I rang again, as this was the agreed latest completion date. I was spoken to rudely and told, “we’ll call you when it’s ready.” I explained that if I didn’t hear anything by midday, I wouldn’t be able to return the courtesy car or collect mine due to work. This was brushed off.

At around 3:30pm on Thursday, I finally received a call saying they had only just started work on my car and had discovered a corroded clutch slave cylinder pipe that needed replacing. I was sent a WhatsApp video — which clearly showed my car still fully intact and not stripped at all.

After having my car for three days, this was completely unacceptable. I was told one thing and delivered another. When I challenged this, I was told “we’ve been busy,” which raises the question: why promise a timeframe you can’t meet?

To make matters worse, I was told I was “done a favour” by being given a courtesy car — despite the business advertising free courtesy cars on their website, and despite the one I was given being unsafe to drive.

At this point, I told them not to touch my car, to remove it from the ramps, and that I would collect it and take it elsewhere. No work had been done, so no payment was taken.

This experience left me without my car, driving an unsafe courtesy vehicle, spoken to rudely, and now having to find another mechanic — all while my own car remains undrivable.

Poor communication, missed promises, unsafe courtesy car, and zero accountability. I would not recommend this business.

Exhaust failed on way to a family funeral. We had 2.5hours to get there and spoke to Tony at A1 Clutches on phone who said bring it in and he'd do his best. Unbelievable service, the team swiftly confirmed issue and ordered the parts, delivered in 1 hr, had car sorted and we made it to the funeral with 10 mins to go. Words cannot cover how grateful we are to Tony and his team. We'd recommend them unreservedly! Stewart G.

Brilliant!! Needed my car looking at ASAP, took it down to the Tipton centre. Test drove it, told me the problem and fixed it. Simple as that. Well priced and car now drives great!! Excellent customer service, so friendly and was kept updated along the way with progress. Highly recommended. Thanks you

First class service and kept up to date on new clutch and flywheel. On collection I was advised I had a leaking thermostat housing with a picture showing me the leak, and advised to keep topping up my coolant until I got it repaired

Excellent service from start to finish from Giri at A1 clutches Tipton. I was kept informed through all stages of the work my car needed. Giri is polite, professional and explained all work that was needed and gave me a quote before the work was carried out. Definitely recommend this team.
