Errors and Unprofessional

Our experience is similar to other reviews. Aardvark acquired our CPA firm and has worked hard to make us feel unwelcome as clients. Taxes not prepared for our tax appointment which was an hour drive for us, despite all docs being provided on time, last minute filing, errors on the return and yet no response to questions.

Why on earth do they acquire other firms when they have no desire to keep the clients? I do not recommend Aardvark

Unprofessional

After Aardvark took over our previous CPA office we've had nothing but problems.
Last year a supposed technical glitch caused them to file an extension. They failed to inform us. Not only did thry file months later they also wanted more money than the previous year. They agreed to not charge the 5%.
This year, all of our documents were delivered on time. Our return was filed on April 15th. We get the invoice. They want $100 more than the previous year. We have an email that says they normally add 5-10% per year. This is well over 10% and we don't even file a State form.
We're so infuriated.
We will absolutely not be returning next year.
We will not ever recommend them to anybody.
If we could have give a zero rating that's what it should be.

Unprofessional and unresponsive

Avoid this firm if you expect timely communication, professionalism, or accountability. Our experience was extremely disappointing, and despite multiple attempts to resolve our concerns directly with them, we were met with delays, vague responses, and ultimately rude treatment.

The engagement letter we signed stated: “For returns due April 15, 2026, we require this information by March 1, 2026.” We uploaded all of our tax documents to their online portal on February 6 — nearly a month ahead of their deadline. Our tax situation was nearly identical to the previous year, so the returns should have been relatively straightforward. On March 11, they contacted us with one question, which we answered the same day.

I emailed on March 24 to ask for a status update and was told our returns were “in review.” The next communication we received was an email on April 6 informing us that they had filed an extension on our behalf, with no prior discussion or explanation. We immediately responded because we did not want an extension and fully expected our returns to be filed by the April 15 deadline. No one responded.

I emailed again on April 21 requesting an update. The client advocate said she could not provide any information, so I asked her to escalate the issue to someone who could. The person she escalated it to never responded.

After explaining that we were about to leave town, our returns were finally completed on April 24. At the same time, we received a bill and were told our taxes would not be filed until payment was made.

The bill was approximately 25% higher than what we paid the previous year, despite no meaningful change in our tax situation. We asked for an explanation for the significant delay, the unrequested extension, and the fee increase. We never received an explanation for any of those issues. Instead, we were told that if we did not feel their service or fee was appropriate, we were free to use another firm next year. To be clear, we were not disputing the fee — we repeatedly asked for an explanation and basic communication, which they consistently failed to provide.

Although the client advocate appeared to genuinely want to help, she had little information and mainly acted as a go-between for individuals who were unresponsive. The tax leader who eventually responded to the escalations was dismissive and rude, and still failed to address our concerns.

What should have been a routine tax filing process turned into weeks of frustration, poor communication, and unnecessary stress. We will not be using this firm again and would strongly caution others before trusting them with important financial matters.

If I could give less than 1 star I…

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Aardvark Tax Advisors took over DTB tax, the account firm I had been using for 9years. I am behind disappointed with Aardvark. I submitted all my documents to the firm on February 26. On April 2 I received a letter saying my filing wouldn't be ready in time and they would file an extension on my behalf. My first phone call requesting answers to a few questions was taken and Ryan promised he would get back to me with answers. That was over six days ago and I still have not heard anything. Today when I called he wouldn't even take my call. Going forward I will not be using the company and I don't recommend them.

Fired after 15 years as a customer

I'm saddened by the fact that Aardvark Tax Advisors (aardvark.tax) took over for my accounting services company this year. I had been a customer of the previous company for over 15 years and found them to be a great partner. My experience after the acquisition: Zero communicates, zero customer service and to top it off if you provide feedback to help them better their service they drop you as a customer - six weeks before filing deadline.

Guess it's a wonderful problem to have too many customers that you can treat them badly.

Feedback is a gift. Especially from a 15 year customer.
