Serious attribution, billing, and support issues — not business-grade

We had a poor experience with addShoppers / SafeOpt, primarily around billing transparency, attribution methodology, and support responsiveness.

We received an invoice for $1,139.34 without having clear access to invoices in the dashboard. Invoices are not visible in the account, and we were repeatedly told to email support just to obtain basic billing documentation. Multiple emails went unanswered.

More importantly, we formally disputed the charges because SafeOpt failed to provide auditable, order-level attribution data to justify the billed conversions. Several orders included in the invoice were already attributed to third-party affiliate networks (AWIN / ShareASale) with commissions paid, or clearly showed last-touch attribution in Shopify as our owned Klaviyo email campaigns or direct/third-party referrals (for example, traffic originating from womenshealthmag.com).

Despite repeated written requests, SafeOpt did not provide:

Click timestamps (date/time)

Destination URLs / landing pages

Attribution identifiers used to match clicks to Shopify orders

Any confirmation of deduplication or attribution priority when another channel closed the sale

The response we received was essentially “trust-based” click-through attribution within a 30-day window, without supporting evidence. That is not an acceptable billing standard for a performance-based service, especially when it risks double-charging against other paid channels.

We also requested formal cancellation of the service and confirmation that no future charges would occur, but communication stalled during the dispute process, and no clear written cancellation confirmation was provided.

In short:

Poor billing transparency
No verifiable attribution proof
Risk of double-commissioning
Invoices not accessible in-platform
Slow or ineffective human support during disputes

This service may not be suitable for businesses that require clear incrementality, attribution accuracy, and accountable support. Until these issues are addressed, we cannot recommend AddShoppers / SafeOpt.

Extremely suspicious phishing service

Extremely suspicious phishing service. I've been getting emails via visiting multiple businesses websites, despite never entering my email. They are somehow stealing my email data from my device. They had to change their name to "SafeOpt" now which is just hilariously ironic. Someone needs to look into this and shut them down.

Misleading Practices and Unjustified Overcharging by AddShoppers

Our engagement with AddShoppers has led to a disappointing and concerning experience, primarily due to substantial contractual discrepancies and unethical billing practices.

Initial Agreement with Jon Mirkin: We entered into discussions with Jon Mirkin from AddShoppers, where we agreed on specific terms for our partnership. Jon assured us that we would be charged a conversion fee only for customers who used a specific coupon code. This was a pivotal factor in our decision to collaborate with AddShoppers.

Shocking Realization Upon Receiving the Bill: The problem came to light when I received the bill via email. To our dismay, we discovered that AddShoppers was charging us for click attributions, not for the use of coupon codes as initially agreed. This billing method included a 30-day attribution fee for anyone who clicked on their emails, drastically increasing our costs and deviating significantly from our original agreement.

Contractual Deviations and Overcharging Concerns: The contract we were provided did not reflect our discussions with Jon. Instead of limiting charges to the use of the coupon code, AddShoppers had set up a system to capitalize on every click from our website visitors in their database. This change in billing method was not only unethical but also represented a significant and unwarranted financial burden on our business.

Ethical and Trust Issues: This situation raises serious ethical concerns about AddShoppers' business practices. The misleading shift from the agreed-upon terms to what was stipulated in the contract indicates a troubling lack of transparency and integrity.

Termination of the Contract: Due to these substantial discrepancies and the unethical overcharging practices, we have made the decision to terminate our contract with AddShoppers. The partnership was initiated based on clear and agreed terms, and the deviation from these has resulted in a complete erosion of trust.

Final Remarks: This experience with AddShoppers serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of ensuring that verbal agreements are accurately and comprehensively reflected in any contractual documents. I strongly advise others to exercise due diligence and caution when engaging with AddShoppers to avoid similar situations.
