Incompetence at its best!

I booked a car in July via Europcar for collection at JFK on 7th September at 8:00. Along with at least 4 customers in front of us, we were told that no cars would be available for at least an hour, the girl on the desk being unbelievably complacent and disinterested.
It says enough that this comnpany is the only one based upstairs at JFK whilst the others have their own, bigger offices on the ground floor. Not recommended in any way whatsoever.
We ended up cancelling and booking at Hertz instead as we had a 9 hour drive to Canada to get on with. Unsurprisingly, we have not yet had a refund 3 weeks later.

Advantage doesn't honor agreements

In planning a trip from El Paso, Texas to Tucson, Arizona, I made a rental reservation through Expedia for an Advantage rental car two weeks in advance. This rental included unlimited mileage. Three days before the trip, Advantage called me to let me know that they would not honor unlimited mileage for Texas residents. For a 3-day rental we would have 300 free miles, and each mile after that would be $0.55 per mile, more than doubling the cost of the rental. I canceled the rental, however with only three days left before we leave, all car rentals from all sources are sold out throughout the city. Expedia customer service couldn't help me and Advantage wasn't interested in doing so. I prepaid for my hotel and for the event we're attending, so my only choice is to take my 12 year old compact stick shift on this long desert drive. I used to routinely rent from Advantage, I had forgotten why I stopped. This is been a harsh reminder that I will never do business with this company again. Advantage is a dishonorable company and I do not recommend them to anyone.

Paid extra for no reason

Reserved the car through hot wire for $70. When I went to pick up the car, the person in the counter said that the actual amount for the reservation is $68, but hot wire had payed to advantage only $53. So, I ended up paying additional $15 to advantage to pick the car. This sounded absolutely ridiculous and unbelievable.
Edit: Called the customer service of hot wire, they said that hot wire payed advantage full amount. The additional charge was for delay in return of the car. But I returned the car almost 15 hours before the due date of return. Request others to never use this service.

I booked a convertible through wisecar…

I booked a convertible through wisecar for my honeymoon in hawaii. Upon arrival the agent that helped us, Jimmy-Jack, seemed to be helpful. I told him we booked through wisecar and I offered the reservation number. He saw I had booked a convertible and said they have two convertibles available mustang or Jeep. I took the Jeep and we went on our way. The Monday after we returned from our vacation I saw that we were charged double our quoted reservation and wisecar would do nothing about it. Extremely disappointed in both companies. Wisecar and Advantage scamming customers with a promised low price then once it hits your credit card they play blame game on each other.

Overcharged and long wait

The price we received through Wisecar was half of what we had to pay. The total was to be $161 and we paid $321. Also even though we pre-booked, we had to wait 45 in line to actually get the car and another 30 going over the same thing that we did online.

I rented a Tahoe through Priceline

I rented a Tahoe through Priceline; $180.10 for two days from the Denver airport. When I arrived the agent offered me an upgrade to a Suburban for $70 a day. The Tahoe was $56 a day. I was then billed an additional $201. Advantage claimed the upgrade was $70 a day. Biggest ripoff in my rental car history. I would NEVER recommend Advantage Rental car to anyone. They are liars and cheats. A $70 a day upgrade to a vehicle slightly larger is BS.

I recently rented a car in Charlotte

I recently rented a car in Charlotte, North Carolina for two days. I rented from Advantage because it was one of the least expensive. I thought I’d give it a try. First, even though I checked out the car and marked all the scratches and dent on my rental agreement when I returned the car I was questioned about the scratch. Next, about three weeks after renting the car I received another charge on my credit card for $120.00. When I called Advantage to inquire what it was for; they said tolls. I said I didn’t belive I ever went through any tolls or used the toll road and I asked them to send me proof that if was the car I had rented and on the dates while I had it. They told me they couldn’t provide me with that. I’d have to call the state or highway department. I was only there 2 days. How could it be $120.00 I never left the Charlotte area. No Answer!! I am disputing the charges through my credit card company, but I will never use Advantage again. Word to the wise; you get what you pay for. Very poor company; it that is how they do business and make their money. It’s SAD!!

I recently rented a car from Advantage…

I recently rented a car from Advantage in Charlotte, North Carolina. I went with that company because they were the least expensive and I figured a car is a car. Three weeks later I got a charge on my credit card for $120.00. When I inquired about it; I was told it was tolls. I only had the car for 2 days and never went through any tolls. When I asked for the proof that Advantage received from the highway department, they said I’d have to call the high department. They don’t have the proof. So this car turned out to be much more expensive. Word to the wise. I will never use advantage again.

They are mis guiding and getting you to buy a toll package. They told us there is s lots of toll so it would be better to have toll package and guess what there is only two tolls on the way where we stayed and in the park we stayed for week and there is no toll in park. Also they told us if you don’t want to fill out gas then we we fill at the rate is $2.39/gallon of what is needed. When final bill come they charge full tank of gas at $2.79
Don’t rent a car from Advantage

scam company

Rented a car in Inglewood California and returned it there. They say I returned it in Seattle wa at seatac location. I only drove 52 total miles durning my rental usage. Don’t make sense to be able to drive only 52 miles and go from Los Angeles to Seattle and then I get charged $1600. Absolute joke of a business. Try to avoid them.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!
I was charged 200$ extra because they said I did not bring the tank full!
Of course they are lying. We fueled it up at the gas station right next to them.
We even asked the guy that took the car from us if everything is ok and if we can leave. He said yes (moron)

We complained and they asked for a proof. We called the gas station and asked for the receipt. I sent them the receipt and they said that the receipt is just for half of tank..
Of course it was for half of tank... the other half was already full.
They asked for all the receipts for fueling the car while we were on our vacation.
Gas stations delete the receipt after one week!
That is just ridiculous!
They have the worst customer service support. Their employees are idio*s They just lie to your face so they can get more money out of you.
I WOULD NEVER RECCOMMEND them even to my worst enemy

They will charge you an arm and a leg with someone else's toll charges and leave you to deal with the toll administration by yourself. Be aware if you don't give in to their predatory up-selling of their EZ Toll service.

Disgusting service

Disgusting service hired a full size was given a mid size as they had nothing else explained that this did not meet our requirements. Got shrug of the shoulders and a what do you want is to do we have nothing else attitude. Had to put some luggage on back seat and squash pushchair into boot which broke it. When calling customer service next day to try and swap for what we ordered no answer after calling 25 times. Left 2 voicemail and 2 emails with no reply. When put in a complaint was offered a 15% voucher off next time we hire with them.

If I could give Advantage Auto 0 stars…

If I could give Advantage Auto 0 stars I would. I rented a vehicle as part of a package deal through Cheep Tickets. It happen to be the weekend that hurricane Dorien was supposed to hit and people were in a panic. The counter agent told me that I should take the pre-purchase fuel option because all of the gas stations in the area were sold out. I later found out this was a lie as the station right on the property where I was staying had gas. Anyway, despite telling the agent I was only planning to travel a short distance she said not to worry that their price to refill was only $2.30 per gallon so I accepted. I was charged $49 for a full tank of gas even though I returned it 3/4 full. Also, I was given a vehicle that required diesel gasoline. Who does that? I was not notified of this until I got in the car and certainly, regular fuel would have been cheaper than Diesel

Their customer service Supervisor Gwen R was rude and short. Do not purchase any gas from this company unless you are planning on driving it until it is on Empty. They probably write off the charge since they put on my contract that the vehicle was returned empty even though I had only driven 90 miles.

scam car rental who take ADVANTAGE

I have also done the same review for europcar who i booked through who are there usa company Scammers

When you take money from someones account without permission or explenation or a email thats a scam that stealing. Booked through this comoany to the be told it will be a company called advantage that would be dealing with the rental in the usa. The person at the desk was very unprofessional and just tried selling us every option instead of giving us any advice or being helpfull we had to do our own car report was not told or showed what we needed to know regarding how to use the toll box. We have now months later had money taken out of our account more then the rental itself this is bad practice and these companies get away with it . I normally try and use enterprise car rental as never had a problem with them but was not available to us definetly will not be using this company again. Apparently reading up this has happened to numerous people Beware

I had very bad experience at Denver…

I had very bad experience at Denver airport.

I had made reservation thru Hotwire. At the advantage car rental office at Denver airport the clerk at the counter asked if I want toll road transponder activate and I said yes. The clerk added collision coverage and roadside assistance. I signed on the electronic pad and they said they will email the contract. I was charged for all 3 to my credit card. Be very careful with advantage car rental. They will deceive you. When I called the customer service they said they can not do anything because I had signed the contract. I have rented cars from different companies before , I have never had this experience . Be very cautious when you sign anything at advantage car rental. Do not do it in hurry. They have your credit card on file and you don't know what all they are adding to your contract. I would never recommend advantage car rental to anyone ever.
