Never book with Aer Lingus Airline and Horrible Experience with Leonardo da Vinci International Airport Staff
Aer Lingus overbooked our flight from Rome to Dublin and my husband and I were not able to board because there were not enough seats. I purchased these tickets two months in advance. After being sent all the way back to find the ticket counter from our gate, we searched for someone to help us, but everyone kept passing us off to the next person. Eventually, after hours of trying to find help, they offered us a new flight the following day, but that would have caused us to miss our next flight to return home. They refused to help book us with another airline to get us to Dublin when we needed to. Everyone we worked with at the Airport in Rome, Leonardo da Vinci International Airport, was horrible. Almost every person was rude, not accommodating, offered nothing for compensation - both Aer Lingus and FCO Airport employees. The man they sent to "help" us, began raising his voice and arguing with us when we said we could not accept the offer of the next day flight due to that causing us to miss our next flight. He tried to use intimidation (by getting in my husbands face) and lording his authority. Repeatedly telling us we didn't know what we were talking about. When we asked for his name, he refused and told us we could go to the police. Completely unnecessary escalation, especially while my husband remained calm the entire time. Overall, we had a horrible experience at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport and with the Aer Lingus Airline. I'd recommend booking with anyone else.
I am extremely disappointed with the…
I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I have received from Aer Lingus.
I have spoken to four different customer service agents regarding my issue, and each time I have had to explain the same situation from the beginning. Yesterday, one of your agents assured me that I would receive a call within an hour and that my booking would be corrected. I never received that call.
When I contacted Aer Lingus again today, instead of helping, I was asked to repeat all the same information yet again. I was also previously instructed to reply to an email with a screenshot as evidence, only to receive an automatic response stating that it was a no-reply email address and that my correspondence would not be received.
This experience has caused unnecessary stress, wasted my time, and left me feeling that my case is not being taken seriously. I expected much better communication and customer service from Aer Lingus. I hope the company improves its customer support so that no one else has to go through this.
Stay far away from this "airline"
They overbooked my wife and I's flight after we had previously bought our tickets a month in advance.
Due to regulation EU261 they must first ask if there were any volunteers who would give up their seat in exchange for paid shelter + food, which they never did. They said they would refund my ticket but not both of ours and were not helpful at all in resolving our issue.
We're looking into legal options now to bring against them but after that we will never have anything to do with this airline ever again and advise everyone else to do the same - they might just sell your ticket you purchased a month in advance to someone else also and completely screw you over without batting an eye.
Worst Customer Service
Everytime I come through Dublin, my experience is the worst when an issue arises. They are quick to dismiss and use the most rude tone of voice like im an idiot.
I work for an airline and the treatment here is the worst ive seen as of yet.
Im currently in front of them now. Customers have come with an issue, and instead of seeing what they could do the immediate answer was that Aer Lingus wasn't at fault because they dont do that.
Happiness
My wife flew in from Scotland to Minneapolis via Aerlingus and she was SUPER chuffed. She could not have been happier. We will be using them from now on. Recommended.
Crap, crap and more crap
Crap, crap and more crap!
Paid extra for extra legroom flight to and from Barbados. There was a draughty coming in through the door on both legs of the journey. The staff were extremely rude and the food was inedible. I lodged a complaint but was told the complaint didn’t merit any attention. Definitely the worst case of customer care or lack thereof I have ever experienced. Nobody listened despite fact that one of the airline staff on board advised that they were having ongoing issues with this new plane and that lots of things were substandard on it. How reassuring!
Judging my experience with them, no doubt this will once again be ignored.
Abysmal overall!
Not Allowed To Fly
I wasn't allowed to fly from Dublin to the Isle Of Man with an Irish drivers licence and never received a refund. Aer Lingus customer service which is a call centre in India and they were useless
Some businesses just don't get it and…
Some businesses just don't get it and continue year on year being good at one thing but awful at others, while sending us endless feedback forms. We tell them how bad they are doing and Trust Pilot's platform prove its a disaster.
Still, witholding legitimate Avios points from customers will only aggrovate further and cause us to leave even more terrible reviews. Aer Club is the WORST EVER REWARDS operation EVER!
Unbelievably low quality customer…
Unbelievably low quality customer service for a quote unquote 4 star airline. Having issues redeeming my aercredit card flights, called the dedicated support number 3 times during the week, 3 times the respective couldn't care less, all I heard back – send them (who them?) an email. I was calling the dedicated support number listed on the official Aerlingus page, why should I be emailing. There was no desire to help, no knowledge, just the wish to end the call with me. Zero stars service
Awful experience
Awful experience. Paying business is a waste of money. The seat to Minneapolis is premium at best and they don’t allow you to use business toilets . Flights went wrong on way back and customer service are totally incompetent and arrogant, Avoid!
Terrible service
Never experienced worse customer service in my life. Lost my bags and told me "not our problem" and just to "wait until when they turn up" whilst in another country with not even a toothbrush.
Avoid Aer Lingus
Avoid Aer Lingus – Terrible Customer Service and Broken Promises
Aer Lingus delayed our flight by three days, claiming it was due to weather, despite other airlines continuing to operate flights during the same period. This left us with three days of unexpected expenses.
Initially, we were told we would receive compensation. I provided my bank details as requested and was told payment would be made within 30 days. Nothing arrived.
After chasing this up, I then waited another two months for a response, despite repeatedly trying to contact them by phone and email. On four occasions, I was actually hung up on by customer service.
Eventually, I received a vague email saying I was not eligible for compensation and that the case was closed—without any proper explanation for the complete change in position.
This experience has been extremely frustrating and unprofessional. Poor communication, false assurances, and unacceptable customer service throughout.
I will not be using Aer Lingus again and would strongly advise others to avoid this airline.
Cheapskates
Aer Lingus only pay for one member of check in staff from Menzies at Manchester Airport, who is meant to look after all their flights to Northern Ireland and Ireland. This is fine until a systems failure occurs, meaning passengers cannot check in online or via the app. No contingency plan deployed to respond to this - so a very long wait to check in plane loads of people with one member of staff. Plus no AL management present, and no information provided.
Customer service chat bot is useless…
Customer service chat bot is useless and they won't let me talk to human. Terrible way to treat customers - they should realyy look up to Ryanair in this case!
If I could give less one I would
If I could give less one I would. My bag did not get on my flight from Minneapolis/ St Paul to Dunkin then on to Rome. Of course I did not know this until I landed in Rome without my baggage which has all my clothes and toiletries. It did come next day and has been sitting at the airport for almost 7 hours with no guarantees of when I will get it. We leave on a cruise tomorrow midday and they still don’t know when I will get it. I will never fly Aer Lingus again
We flew Aer Lingus from Ediburgh to…
We flew Aer Lingus from Ediburgh to Seattle via Dublin and back with a 3 year old. While we enjoyed the airline, the service, and clearing customs in Dublin was amazing, we unfortunately won't be flying long haul on this airline again due to the arm rest as you can't lift them up. Near impossible to get a toddler asleep on a longhaul redeye when you can't lift the arm rest for them to lean on you. Extremely exhausting for parents, wee ones and those around us (sorry to them!) Bummed as everything else was great and would much rather fly Aer Lingus over BA but this one thing is make or break. Writing this review to hopefully save another parent from this!
Terrible experience with Aer Lingus, over 24-hour delay and now refusing to take responsibility
**Terrible experience with Aer Lingus, over 24-hour delay and now refusing to take responsibility**
We had an extremely poor experience with Aer Lingus on our journey from Dublin to Los Angeles.
There were four of us travelling, including two children aged 8 and 10. Our first Aer Lingus flight was delayed, which caused us to miss our connecting flight to Los Angeles. This was completely outside our control.
As a result, we were rebooked, put in a hotel for around 24 hours, and eventually rerouted on a much worse journey via Las Vegas instead of our original route.
We arrived at our final destination more than 24 hours late.
This was not just a small inconvenience. We were travelling for an important family ceremony, which was the main reason for travelling on those dates, and we missed it because of the delay. Travelling with two children made the whole experience even more stressful and exhausting.
Aer Lingus did provide hotel accommodation, but that does not make up for the disruption, the missed family event, the lost time, and the stress caused to our family.
We submitted a formal compensation claim under EC261/2004 because the journey was long-haul and we arrived more than 24 hours late.
Instead of dealing with the matter properly, Aer Lingus has been slow, difficult, and dismissive. Their response has been to refuse compensation by claiming “passenger illness on a previous flight” caused aircraft cleaning and seatbelt replacement. They have provided no proper evidence, no timeline, no proof that this directly caused our delay, and no explanation of what steps they took to avoid or reduce the delay.
It feels like Aer Lingus is trying to avoid responsibility by giving a vague excuse and expecting passengers to give up.
We have now been advised to make an official complaint to the relevant aviation oversight body, as Aer Lingus has failed to deal with the matter properly or provide evidence to support its refusal.
This has been one of the worst airline customer service experiences we have had. A family of four, including two young children, was delayed by more than 24 hours, missed an important family ceremony, and was then forced to chase Aer Lingus for compensation they should be handling properly.
I would not recommend Aer Lingus based on this experience. If something goes wrong, expect delays, vague excuses, and very little accountability.
ANOTHER lost case. No compensation.
ANOTHER lost case, this is the 3rd time, which has cost the company tens of thousands. i requested that they refund the extra baggage i paid for (25kg) and the AerSpace upgrade (for convenience), but i was just ignored. Not even a response. Company-wide we are going to have to look for an alternative airline, as why pay the Aer Lingus premium if the service provided is on par with Ryanair? Not good enough, and ignoring high paying customers is just rude and unacceptable.
Staff are VERY rude
Staff are VERY rude. This is worse than the US budget airlines. Do not fly with them, even if you have to change your schedule. So BAD
Horrendous Customer Service
Paid over £2000 for a flight and they still had the audacity to charge £20 for onboard WiFi, which never worked throughout the entirety of the trip! Contacted customer services and they wouldn’t even honour a refund. Absolute cowboys.
