Poor service, robotic staff, delays.
Round trip with layover through Dublin from states to Manchester and back. Flat affect staff with personalities of robots all around. Late departures, long waits on tarmac, delays both ways. Poor direction and assistance in the Dublin airport by Aer Lingus staff. On the plane-the seats had little or no padding. The food? Terrible. A friend warned me not to eat it, but I didn’t listen. Spent a good amount of fly time in intestinal distress in the bathroom afterwards and into the next day.
THEN- my friend and her two 7yr old boys took the same flight one week later. One of the boys got motion sickness due to flight turbulence and threw up in the bathroom at their layover stop. The Aer Lingus staff found out and would not let her board the plane until he saw a doctor in Dublin. Their mother who is a family doctor explained it was simply motion sickness and he was fine now- no fever, nausea, chills, etc. Also explained that her other 7yr old is special needs and is tube fed and she only had enough tube feed for the next 12 hours. If they miss the flight it would put him at risk. The Aer Lingus staff couldn’t care less. They refused to assist her in finding hotel accommodations and refused to provide a voucher. She was stuck in an unfamiliar foreign country overnight having to drag two children (one special needs who is blind and deaf and in a diaper) and all their luggage around trying to get a hotel and find a way to feed her special needs son. (Her other son was absolutely fine.) Thank goodness a hotel (Crown Plaza Dublin Airport) and the staff there were compassionate and went to great lengths to assist her with her dilemmas. Aer Lingus staff really demonstrate their lack of ability to apply common sense to individual situations and can only simply remain rigid and robotic reciting their “policy”. Heartless. My brother who worked for another airlines in management was appalled when I told him how the situation was handled by Aer Lingus.
Luggage wasn't loaded onto a connecting flight and has now vanished.
Luggage wasn't loaded onto a connecting flight in Dublin to travel to Chicago. I was assured the baggage would follow the next day and would arrive at Chicago yesterday afternoon. 24 hours later Aer Lingus are unable to tell me where my bag is and the helpline either doesn't pick up or tells me to wait. Extremely poor service and lack of care.
I was given 1 hrs notice of my flight…
I was given 1 hrs notice of my flight being cancelled, I was put on a flight the following morning. The staff offered no food or accommodation and left me stranded. I was advised by the staff to use the taxi service outside the airport and ask for a receipt, which I did. It my claim to get this money back, I’m told this receipt can’t be accepted, disgusting, don’t fly this airline!
Lost and destroyed case.
My case was lost on a flight to Barcelona in January and not found for 5 days. When I got it it was destroyed. I have spent 7 months arguing with someone in India who, because I didn't claim for 7 days wouldn't consider it. It was lost for 5 of those 7 days. I had to spend over €300 to replace my work clothes/boots (I was working in a shipyard) and nothing could be reclaimed. What a shocking way to treat your customers. Shame on you.
I filed a formal complaint
I filed a formal complaint and request of reimbursement on the behalf of my wife who was targeted and threatened resulting in financial loss, plus emotional distress and mental anguish. Unnecessary actions initiated by Aer Lingus gate agent resulting in our being removed from flight EI082 on May 18,2026. It cannot be stressed enough that all actions were a direct result of the unfounded, unnecessary, and bias actions initiated by the gate agent.
When we passed through the check in point to board the plane, no attendant said anything about the size of my wife’s carry-on luggage. Halfway down the entrance ramp the gate agent without any explanation, told my wife to come back to the terminal. Passengers behind us questioned aloud why the airline employee would pick my wife out of the line. Another passenger pointed out that the carry-on luggage she had was smaller than what I had, yet nothing was said to me. Upon returning home, I measured our carry-on luggage, and my carry-on luggage was 14 percent larger!
The gate agent said that she had the discretion to remove a person’s carry-on luggage and that my wife’s carry-on was too large for the passenger overhead compartment. The gate agent never used any objective measures. She did not measure the luggage or place it in a carry-on size limitations display, yet she demanded removing my wife’s carry-on luggage. The gate agent’s opinion was proved incorrect when my wife’s carry-on luggage was placed in the overhead compartment without any problem. The gate agent’s discretion is subjective opinion open to bias. Objective measurements stated on the boarding pass Carry-on Bag Allowance were never used.
Another blatant demonstration of disrespect and bias towards my wife was displayed by the gate agent when she said to me, “You need to get control of your wife.”
At the end of this ordeal, my wife said, “I feel like I have been targeted.”
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service, the agents on the phone are nonchalant and sassy, the agents on chat will just leave the chat before resolving said issue. What took me 2 minutes to do with Ryanair, I taking me 3 days so far and I’m still seeing incorrect information on my end. Useless overall, will not be booking with them again
Ive taken aer lingus a total of 3 times…
Ive taken aer lingus a total of 3 times and all times they have been delayed for over 2hrs. This has cause me to miss my train and pay for a taxi. Finally this time it was delayed, i came to the gate 10 minutes before takeoff and turns out they left. Then have the audacity to charge me the same price for the next available flight
Never again
If I never have to use Aer Lingus again it won't be a day too soon. Haphazard -and frankly shambolic - process at the boarding gate for the shuttle (how many staff does it take to scan a boarding card!) and a delay in departure with no reason/excuse/apology. I'd compare the turboprop we went on to the equivalent of a flying lawnmower - hugely noisy and easily buffeted around once in the air: avoid if you're a nervous flyer.
came here to leave a negative review…
came here to leave a negative review but thousands have beat me to it
twice they have set up my refund payment and then just dont pay
2700 quid out of pocket because their plane had engine failure
small claims is only thing i can do, but ask yourselves seriously, do you want to put yourself through this!
will be bust soon
Avoid at all costs
Genuinely the worst airline I’ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They cancelled our flights a matter of hours prior to departure, failed to tell anyone. Offered a flight 8+ hours away to a different location. Customer service is non-existent and they avoided paying any refund or compensation. Shite.
The worst travel company I've ever had…
The worst travel company I've ever had the displeasure to use. Booked flights directly when them from Manchester to Orlando. The issues began when they decided to stop providing the direct route and instead changed the flights to connections via Dublin. No big deal. No refunds or compensation offered even though trip was now longer and more difficult with 3 kids. Refund offered but other financial commitments already made for holiday so not an option for me. Return flights then cancelled completely and offered a new set of flights 24 hours later. More time needed off school and work to accommodate. Again no apology. Refund if I wanted. Then comes the flights, arrive in Orlando minus 2 suitcases that haven't made the connection in Dublin. They will be in the next flight 24 hours later. I've then had to claim through my travel insurance to clothe my kids until 3 days into the trip the case finally arrives. Genuinely don't put yourself through the stress. Pay the extra and fly Virgin. Customer service is non existent. It will go out of business soon I'm certain.
I wish I could give them zero stars
I wish I could give them zero stars. Complaint raised end of January … 4th holding letter and apology for delay in replying received today. Absolute terrible customer service.
0 stars if possible
0 stars if possible. Flight got delayed (probably no fault) and then on the late flight they left our bags at the previous airport. It’s a 1 hour hop they do 10 times per day and it’s been 12 hours, still no bags. Will never give them my business again EI3555, if you’re reading this, bring me my bags please
Awful airline to deal with...
Awful airline to deal with if something goes wrong. Long wait times of 45 to 60 minutes on the phone (if you are lucky) and phone associates who are poorly trained and frequently give incorrect information to customers. Unfortunately I had a number of issues that developed over the course of my trip, and I had to call them a number of times. Bad experiences were the norm, not the outlier. Just recently, after a very frustrating conversation, I requested to speak with a supervisor and was practically refused. I wish it wasn't necessary, but I had to get a little nasty and insist on holding for one.
Lost personal items- terrible customer support
Very disappointing! The flights themselves were good. It was a favorable experience until we arrived at our destination to find our bag was damaged and personal items were missing. We arrived at the airport late, so there were no customer service around. On the train into the city, I immediately filed an online claim from my phone (which I am able to show) and attached pictures/video.
After waiting several weeks, I finally received a response asking me for a list bid verifying information which I promptly provided.
Today (over 6 weeks later) I am told that they would not approve my claim because I filled out the wrong form, which needed to be completed with 5 days of the damage. Even though I can show I filed a claim within two hours of landing, and even though they took weeks to respond, they are not taking responsibility for our lost items.
I do not recommend an airline that does not work with their customers to make things right. Do better!!
Really the most terrible airline I have…
Really the most terrible airline I have ever flown with. We were stuck in Dublin for 3 days and nights in January due to delays, and they are ignoring my request for a refund while according to the policy I am eligible for one. This airline is a scam.
If I could give 0 stars
If I could give 0 stars. I think the trust pilot score of 1.5 sums it up. You have to try to be this bad. The airline changed a flight that I was booked in to and then the management of this has been pitiful. Read the other reviews, never travel with this airline.
Outstanding Customer care and response
I did not have a great journey with Aer Lingus for all sorts of reasons which I shall not go into. However - the response from B from the Customer Care Team has been exceptional. Things do go wrong but I think it is also about how companies put things right - and so a big thank you from me for responding so prompty and sorting things out - reference 04779921
This is all to do with bags and weight
This is all to do with bags and weight. Even though we have under our joint allocated amount, and I have read that you can combine, but at the airport we have been charged both ways for only using one bag. It is disgraceful behaviour. The app also failed to work so couldn't change anything. Very poor experience and we won't use them again.
Beware
There is a link that takes you to The Flight Network company, where you will be scammed and pay for tickets that don’t exist. Airlingus need to disassociate themselves . Or at least care!
