This is all to do with bags and weight

This is all to do with bags and weight. Even though we have under our joint allocated amount, and I have read that you can combine, but at the airport we have been charged both ways for only using one bag. It is disgraceful behaviour. The app also failed to work so couldn't change anything. Very poor experience and we won't use them again.

Beware

There is a link that takes you to The Flight Network company, where you will be scammed and pay for tickets that don’t exist. Airlingus need to disassociate themselves . Or at least care!

Very disappointed with the customer…

Very disappointed with the customer service.

Aer Lingus first lost my suitcase during my trip. When it was finally delivered to me, it arrived damaged. After returning from my vacation, I submitted a claim regarding both issues.

However, my claim was rejected on the grounds that I had not reported the temporary loss of the baggage and the damage to the suitcase separately. I was not aware that these were two different procedures for the same suitcase, especially since a case had already been opened in my name.

The only explanation I was given was that the deadline to file the damage report was 7 days and, since that deadline had passed, my claim was denied. Instead of trying to find a solution or clearly explaining the process I should have followed, I simply received a cold response essentially telling me that “that’s just the way it is.”

Aerlingus the basics are not there Unfortunately

Unfortunately, today I am travelling from London to Shannon and then on to New York, and the experience has been very disappointing.

The aircraft seats are extremely old, and my seat (21C) was so dirty that it genuinely felt like sitting in a rubbish bin. I asked the cabin crew whether this was considered normal, and was simply told that it was, as there was no cleaner available.

As a British Airways Gold member, I expected a much higher standard of cleanliness and customer service. Although this flight is operated by a Oneworld partner airline, I still associate the alliance with the quality standards that BA promotes.

A clean seat is a basic expectation for any airline, especially on an international journey. This experience has left me very disappointed and has not reflected well on either the airline or the Oneworld alliance.

I fly all over the world on various airlines ,Aer lingus is by far the worst airline I have ever had the pleasure of flying with ,we book a direct flight from Manchester to new york ,they change it to connection at Dublin Airport, and the layover was only 1 hour 15 minutes i told them numerous times that was long enough to clear usa customs, and didn't account for any delays on first flight, you guessed it we missed connection to new york had to spend night in dublin missing a whole day of our holiday, food on the planes are not the best ,,Aer lingus food is so bad take a drink and sandwich with you,so my advice to you pay a little more and use a better airline

Call centre staff on the phone is rude

Call centre staff on the phone is rude, unprofessional, untrained and some can't even speak English! Made 2 calls in a row. The first agent did not respond and was breathing heavily into the phone. The second agent went silent, when asked if he was still there, he responded: Give me a minute! His English was terrible. Egypt based call centre he said. Both agents did not even know what the Dublin preclearance facility was about while Aer Lingus is the only airline that offers this service from UK airports to the USA via a preclearance airport.

Awful airline

Awful airline, awful service. Delayed flight by 8 hours. Applied for a refund, told to go via the booking agent, booking agent said they had no response from Aer Lingus. Complained again after the flight - which my partner did not end up taking due to the extreme time difference - and Aer Lingus say I should have complained before the flight. I submitted proof that I had, and they rejected everything. Piss poor service, will never use again. Stay well away!

No help, no compassion, process before a passenger in trouble,

I had not flown Aer Lingus for many years and I had no reason to think it would be problematic.

I had a series of major mishaps - delayed five hours by a terrible traffic jam on the motorway (caused by a massive accident). What should have been a 20 minutes journey took five hours. All I had was coldness, obstruction and lack of compassion for what was a difficult situation which not at all of my own making.

I was only late by 5 minutes for check in and given the circs, they could have got me on the flight. Instead I had to wait another five hours at Heathrow. I had this naive view that they are supposed to help you but this was soon disabused. I was also given wrong information about baggage allowance on the phone and had to pay up as a result.

My friend who came with me, was flying on a Delta Flight to New York and she was greeted with kindness, respect and a can do approach.

It really exposed how poor Aer Lingus was. I just hope things will change for the better.

Substandard and shoddy airline

They lost my bag and when it was delivered 3 days later items missing. Contacted their customer service who just tell you to fill in an online form after form. After 30 forms filled and following every request my claim was rejected due to no police report. After getting the police report I was told it wasnt in 7 days. This was not mentioned when reporting items and nor is it on their website or in there terms and conditions

I was told its an internal policy and its not listed anywhere. So they ask you for a report 10 days later and then claim its not within seven days. Shoddy airline and paid double for a horrendous experience with no apology or compensation. Steer clear of this airline. Ref 04419663

Aer Lingus have zero understanding of Service

Aer Lingus have zero understanding of process. Two staff to check on a flight at Manchester to Dublin, Dublin to Washington. Chaos, almost missed the flight after allowing three hours.
Dublin is a mess with Aer Lingus whilst walking through a building site! Customer service on Aer Lingus non existent, Food onboards is not fit for a dog! And barely warm. An insult to anyone. A complete joke. Return leg from USA to Dublin, Dublin to Manchester was a joke, chaos checking in, then a smashed suitcase. I followed the process to report ant at the airport and the again with aner Lingus online and now have the customer service team arguing with me. Airline is a joke, and is another low cost horror show. Ireland you can keep Aer Lingus, I am delighted you left Manchester as you could not compete. Another IAG casualty like BA. IAG could but run a bath!

Negligent Customer Service for Business Class

Customer Service is Appauling
The airline itself is great value for money, the flight crew offer excellent service and the overall experience is brilliant.

However, obtaining an invoice or proper receipt for services is literally impossible. All they will offer is a plain text email that I am unable to use to reclaim costs from my client and after a month of trying to resolve the matter and writing to senior directors and the CEO (All Ignored) I literally have to give up.

I will use them for personal travel again for sure but for business travel it's an absolute no from me as this recent experience has cost me circa 5000EUR for my business trip that I am unable to recoupe due to their customer service negligence.

Disappointing customer service

Disappointing customer service, I was given the wrong information by their supervisor regarding flying with a child, which cost me time and money, with no accountability taken by Aer Lingus.

Would not recommend.

Must say that I was delighted with Aer…

Must say that I was delighted with Aer Lingus trip from Cork / Tenerife on May 11th and especially Tenerife/Cork on May 22nd. The staff were brilliant but especially in Tenerife. Unfortunately I had recently fractured my foot and was walking with a crutch. When we got to check in Tenerife the lady at the desk noticed that I was in a lot of pain and organised a wheelchair for me to get to the plane, It was like been treated like a VIP from the moment I left the desk to when I got on the plane and again in Cork. And also thanks to the staff at the airport in Tenerife for looking after me so well. I have not travelled with Aer Lingus for a number of years because of price but must say this time you get what you pay for and it was brilliant 👏 l

Easily the worst company you will ever…

Easily the worst company you will ever have to work with. Unbelievably bad customer service, they argue with you constantly and even when they admit they are wrong they still withhold money they owe you and pretend they have paid it. They managed to change a person without authority on my booking then remove a paid for suit case, and had the audacity to argue and make me pay again. Upon coming home I have been trying to get this refund for 3 months now.

Aer Lingus - Always our 1st choice for travel abroad

We flew from Dublin to Verona 19th May returning 30th May 2026 and we had the best experience ever. Travelling with 3 high energy kids aged 5, 6 & 8 everything went well. Check in was straight forward, bag drop was good, our flight was on time and the cabin crew were excellent. honestly Aer Lingus are one of the best operators weve flown with and its why we always choose them when we can. were for Orlando again in December flying direct from Dublin so after our Verona trip i can honestly say i am looking forward to it. With my 3 kids i get a bit stressed but our trip to Verona was great. Only thing i can recommend is to make sure and leave plenty of time for the new European Passport Control Checks. We were lucky both ways with only 30 mins wait but the queue was getting long behind us....

Management Get A Grip

Management get a grip. Aer Lingus performance has disimproved over time. I could not log on through the App for six months. No email after requesting to reset password. Phone customer care is hopeless.I could not check in in Norway until I had WiFi access. Customer service in T2 Dublin Airport is useless. Disinterested.

5/29/2026

5/29/2026, had booked a direct flight from Denver to Dublin. Dublin was a layover with final destination Glasgow, Scotland. We arrived at Dublin airport for 2nd leg of trip. We checked in, as we attempted to check small carry on bags ( required as they said plane could not accommodate passenger bags). All computer systems went down in airport. This outage lasted on and off over an hour. There were thousands of passengers stranded with no way to ‘tag bags.” Flights were missed. Air Lingus sent us all over airport, we had to retrieve luggage about another hour. The missed flight effort to be rebooked were unhelpful. We were told we’d have to pay an additional 75 ponds per person and no flights that day. This also meant a hotel bill for passengers. A family ahead of us were told 150 pounds per person. They informed us and others, they would not refund this leg of trip. It was total chaos at airport and the all communications with this airline were difficult. We booked on different airline to continue trip.

Improper advice

Booked a return flight with Aer Lingus from Southampton, England to Dublin, Ireland travelling on March 14th and booked mid February thru an online travel company. Phoned them and asked if my son could fly on picture ID and was referred to there Business chat who told me residents of UK and Ireland could. Phoned them again day before the flight as couldn’t check my son in without passport details and agent took his DOB and said nothing about needing a passport. Got turned away at the airport as no passport and when I contacted them direct they said it was my fault as I should have checked with my embassy first. I went on there site again and was told exactly the same.

Out of pocket expenses

Flights got cancelled, we did get tickets refunded.
Unfortunately for us we had also booked airport hotels and parking, these were non refundable.
There will be those that say what about insurance, however we were in the process of deciding that when we received the notification of cancellation, so we could not have claimed anyway.
AL state it's not their policy to refund for certain expenses.
Basically we're several hundred pounds out of pocket.
We won't attempt to use them in the future.
