Airbnb is a horrible company to deal…

Airbnb is a horrible company to deal with. I was suppose to be taking a vacation soon and due to COVID going up last minute and my state is in the RED they decide they don’t wanna refund me my money. I wouldn’t even think about ever doing business with them again. So unprofessional and I was told I would get my refund then they decided they didn’t want to do that. They tell false information about what they would do for their customers but that’s a lie.

Don't waste your money!

Yes, minus 5 stars would be appropriate. Last year I stayed at an Airbnb where there was construction all day 7 am to 7 pm. I thought it was a one-off. This year, we didn't get the check-in instructions on time at Sea Turtle in Cocoa Beach. There were unmasked people in the apartment. We could not move our things in. We stood in the rain not knowing what to do. The woman inside was hostile. We had to find another place to stay. No refund! Crappy custumor service! They won't even support our refund for a "security deposit" when we didn't even stay there. Don't waste your money!

No resolve

I reserved an Airbnb for family traveling from Austin, TX to Las Vegas, NV. We were quoted several prices. After settling on pne price, my family just a few miles out of Las Vegas I find out from host that it's her private residence. Ok...family gets there and this place is absolutely disgusting. They were there long enough to get photos and contact the host to complain. She said then to get out. My family replaced the key and had to find alternate lodging for the night after traveling 20 hrs with 6 children.i have canceled the reservation which was for 1 week but have yet to receive a total refund. My total payout was $741.77. I was refunded 461.77. Still in a fight for remaining. They should not be able to keep almost $300. for a 30 minute viewing of a sub standard residence.

Airbnb is excellent @ the Run-a-Round…

Airbnb is excellent @ the Run-a-Round they call, "I WILL FORWARD THIS TO MY COLLEAGUE." I have spend hours and several days uploading and labeling photos and reply emailing to airbnb regarding their disgusting listing we have now been forced to stay in for 19 days. We have cleaned and a wait around for the property owners contractors to deliver and fix things. I have basically paid to become the caretaker of this unmaintained property which airbnb condones. Airbnb just leads you to believe, through emails and phone calls that they "GOT YOU" and have your back but, it's all about their bottom line. If you get a refund the they loose too! Use another venue because, this one is not there to protect or support the consumer.

Do not trust AIRNB one bit

Do not trust AIRNB one bit. I have booked a home for New Years holiday, paid $16,000 and host cancelled last minute. It has cost me change of air tickets I have asked AIRBNB simply take responsibility and not to charge their service fee for next booking that i will do but they simply refused and did not care with their rudeness of customer care.

I was first mislead and told I could…

I was first mislead and told I could not get a full refund only 50% or a travel credit. after arguing with the gentleman on the phone. I choose the travel credit. however their is a deadline date. I recently called back and told them I do not plan to travel for a while. the lady I spoke to said well I had everything I needed to get a full refund but because I chose the credit it cannot be reversed. I am sooooo upset. this is ridiculous! TOTAL BS! Many people are facing this exact problem and it is not right I have contacted BBB, Federal Trade Commission, Ripoff Report, Pissed Consumer, and my Attorney General as well as the Attorney General in San Francisco. I will continue to call weekly till i can get in touch with someone who will get me my money back. @brianchesky @airbnb

Beware of booking anything with Airbnb

Beware of booking anything with Airbnb. They use deceptive practices. At booking they advertised they would refund everything before certain date (I have pictures) and then they don’t refund their fee with the excuse you should have read the small print (third page with exceptions to their refund policies). I’ve tried to reason with them and all they say is “we know where you’re coming from but it’s our policy”. Terrible financial decision on their part. They could have made so much more money with my business than sticking to their ridiculous fee. It’s not the money , it’s the principle of it. And they have No Principles.

Refund issue with Airbnb.

I have a refund issue with Airbnb.
When you visit Korea, you must stay 2weeks for quarantine after you arrive at the airport.
I made a reservation in Elly house through Airbnb about 6hours ago. I made a reservation for quarantine, but when I read the review, I found that the cleanliness and safety conditions were poor, such as dust and hair and cockroaches. I decided not to stay in Elly house, so I contacted the host several times and asked for a full refund, but there was no reply, so I sent a message through Airbnb. I took prompt action.
When I searched for a place, if I was able to see recent reviews, I would never have booked this place. When I clicked on Elly House, the reviews on the main page didn't look too bad, but every review was old, so I was a little bit skeptical, but I made a reservation. After that, I clicked on the host to see a little bit about the host, and then I was able to see the latest reviews. I don't know why he set it up like that, but usually, people who search for accommodations, they make decisions based on reviews on the main page. You wouldn't think there would be other bad reviews hidden in it when you click on a hostname.
I read bed reviews regarding cleanness and safety. I booked Elly house for quarantine, not just for a regular stay. I was really concerned about this. Besides, Elly house has been used for quarantine, so especially in the COVID19 situation, cleaning conditions should be taken seriously .
I asked for a full refund politely, I tried to reach out to the host in 6hours after I booked the place and asked for a refund. Also, I reached out to AirBnB, but they kept saying that when I get there if there are cleanness and safety issues, then they can give me a full refund.
I told them, this is not a normal situation. we are in the COVID19 situation, that's more for a normal situation, but if guests find out there are issues from the late reviews and they are really concern about the situation and especially, the guest was trying to reach out in 6hours, you guys should take this concern seriously and give the guest a refund so that she can find a better place for quarantine.
We are living in a COVID19 situation, Airbnb should be more flexible and understandable about this kind of issue.

Covid19 is not the only problem

We have two rentals on Kauai. In mid March when covid19 hit the world we had 100% cancellations through mid December.
Oh geez, there goes our retirement income and possibly the loss of our condos.
We have HOA dues, property tax and insurance to pay every month.
In desperation we decided to rent the condos out long term.
We needed to cancel two reservations for late December and mid January. I called Airbnb to get help with the cancellations and was told that there is a penalty for the two cancellations.
Predatory practice.
Also, when covid19 hit Airbnb refunded the guests their full fees even though the cancellations were under our strict cancellation policy. Nice.
Under the circumstances I think splitting the fees with the guests would have been fair.
Airbnb made a nice bit of money off of their fees with out listings.
We were going to use Airbnb again after our tenants 6 month leases were up.
Instead we have canceled our listings.
What a POS Airbnb is.

Buyer beware

Buyer beware. Airbnb is only interested in making money and protecting the owners of the accommodations. The renters have no recourse if things do not go well or are not that they're not as it should be. We are considering taking further action with our complaint. Further there is false advertising in that we were promised and have confirmation for check in at 1 p.m. and check out at 3 p.m. Whereas when we arrived in the pouring rain we were told we could not check in until 4 and had to be out by 11. Additionally they did not even allow us to review our accommodations on their site, which is how they assure only positive reviews of bad accommodations. We filed a complaint with them but they refuse to even share with us the results of their investigation. We do not believe they investigated at all. They have completely lost our trust but they will be hearing more from us.

Airbnb takes your money

Airbnb actively avoids providing customer service. Their phone prompts all end in poor information and then the call ends. The platform's customer service messaging center is fully automated, can take days or weeks with no response, and never ends in a satisfactory response, more likely a non-response. My issue is still not resolved and they are hoping I 'go away'. This is a terrible way to treat customers and I cannot stress enough to think twice before deciding to use this company. Use alternative services.

I don’t feel safe as a host anymore

I was a super host with Air BNB for almost 3 years. since the pandemic their customer service has gone completely downhill. I recently had a guest stay with me who unbeknownst to me Brad marijuana edibles into my home. I do not approve of recreational drugs even though they are legal in California. He left his door open and the other walls in an open suitcase in his room and my small dog got into them and ate them. The gas came and told me and I had to immediately take my dog to the emergency room as he was very sick. This cost me about $1600 and all Air BNB has done is play games with me. I have never been able to get anyone on the phone who is not at the call center outside of the United States. They have continually denied the claim and referred to my dog is a “it“. They said that animals are not covered and that they will not cover the claim as marijuana is illegal drug in California so they don’t consider it a drug.??? I told them that I wanted to delete my account as I’d had such a bad experience with them and they told me that they cannot do it right away as the claim is still open even though they have repeatedly denied it. I did not feel safe being a host anymore nor do feel safe using Air BNB myself. They are flaky and disorganized. Two thumbs down

AirBnB customer service is the worst

AirBnB customer service is the worst. My vacation for September (booked 9 mos ago pre pandemic) was cancelled due to COVID. The host requested that I receive a full refund, but the company is keeping the $260 service fee because the reservation was not cancelled within 48 hours of booking. You cannot as a guest get anyone on the phone or even a real person to answer you on email. I'm done with them for good! You should be too!

Use VRBO instead of Airbnb

Airbnb was a great idea but is it managed by unethical people. I rented 2 apts in France in Jan. 2020 for $3000. Americans cannot travel to France but Airbnb will not refund the 1st month of either apt. so I am awarded a refund of the service fees. $68 and I will lose more than $3000 ! I am now trying to get the French hosts to cancel the reservation. If not, I will take Airbnb to court. VRBO is a similar organization with a good Covid 19 refund policy Use it. Christopher

Poor customer service, NO COMMUNICATION

Disgusted by the lack of communication and poor customer service! I was charged wrongfully for two stays at the same place during the same time frame and they would not issue a refund. I contacted them several times and received NO resolution. I was told the "lines are locked up and even the reps can't get through to that department". So strange and awful business practice. I do not recommend. They are a company who is truly in it for themselves and could care less about their customers.

Beware Airbnb does not give full refunds! They lie!

We had reservations pre corona virus, the host said in writing that we could cancel up to 14 days prior. We did indeed have to cancel, approx 3 weeks prior. The host was able to rent the house. She said she would issue a full refund. Airbnb kept nearly 25% (just under $500) and refuses to refund us! They claim the host stepped outside of their policies. That's not my fault! Do not use Airbnb if you can help it.

They actually have an F from the BBB, and the BBB can no longer take complaints because they have received so many. I wish I would have looked at that before I booked. I would give them zero stars if I could

I have very bad experience with airbnb

I have very bad experience with airbnb. They don't take any action and any responsibility for their guests if the host cancel to rent their place at the last minute. Airbnb does not accomodate for their guest. Very ignorant. Please stay at hotel, motel or inn if you don't want your vacation to get ruined.

I requested only half a refund but never got a response from Airbnb…

I am an essential worker who needed a vacation and change of scenery. I chose a house in the Eastbay, California that had a nice deck. The deck was the reason I chose the house. The listing mentioned that there was some construction on the house that included the exterior of a large patio. It never mentioned the deck. Additionally it stated "...all that is seen is all that you will get." it contained several photos of the deck, but to my horror the deck was torn down! I was devistated but tried to make the best of my vacation.
The following issues added to a vacation from hell and lead to my requesting a refund.... light bulb blew out in one of the bedrooms, with no extras or way to replace it.... extremely weak/intermittent internet connection.....Refridgerater was not cold, and it was already set on the coldest setting. Our food that required refrigeration was barely chilled...It also did not contain a light.. Garbage disposal did not work... No extra garbage bags for the trash can in the kitchen so once we emptied the garbage we could no longer use the trash can... No screen for the window in the bathroom and the bathroom fan did not work.
After we checked out Hoss the host, asked for a 5-star rating. To avoid sounding petty, I gave a 3 star with the explanation for only the misadvertisment of the deck. I left off all of the other issues in the hous. I never received an apology or any response from Hoss, so after 2 days I asked for a refund of half of what I paid which was $480 for 3-days. The second I submitted my request I received a phone call from Hoss. He was very upset that he did not get a 5-star rating. He said the owner may not approve of it, be he said he would see about getting approval to refund $100 if I could change my rating to 5-star. I asked airbnb CS if it was possible, and they said "no". I was told to no longer speak directly with the host and to wait 72-hrs for the owner to respond. If the owner doesen't respond I can then involve airbnb for a resolution. This occured on 6/19/20. I waited until 6/22/20 then I requested airbnb to get involved. Today is July 4, 2020 and I am still waiting for a decison. In the meantime Hoss gave me a bad review, which said "Poor Experience" with no details. This was my first time renting from Airbnb, and now with that rating no one will rent to me in the future. So even if I wanted to give Airbnb another try, I can't!
