All Hands on Deck – A Brilliant Stay at Captain’s Quarters

We had a wonderful overnight stay at Captain’s Quarters in Hythe and would happily return.

Captain’s Quarters is a beautifully converted building with three separate apartments, and even at the booking stage we were impressed by how stylish and well-finished each one looked. Seeing the consistent quality across all three immediately gave us confidence that this was going to be a special place to stay, and it certainly lived up to expectations.

Our apartment was beautifully presented, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully equipped with everything you might need for a comfortable stay. There was no noise at all during the night, which made for a very restful stay. The bed and furnishings were extremely comfortable, and the apartment was very well equipped. As we have children, we especially appreciated that it had everything we needed for a family stay, making it both easy and relaxing.

The décor strikes a lovely balance between nautical charm and modern comfort, making it feel both characterful and welcoming.

The location is ideal – quiet and peaceful, yet perfectly placed for exploring Hythe, the seafront, and the surrounding area. We really appreciated how easy it was to stroll into town and enjoy the local cafés and shops.

Communication with the hosts was excellent from start to finish, with clear instructions and a warm, welcoming approach that made check-in effortless.

Overall, Captain’s Quarters is a fantastic choice for a short break in Hythe: comfortable, family-friendly, and perfectly located. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely stay at Captain’s…

We had a lovely stay at Captain’s Quarters. The accommodation was superb with all mods and cons, very well equipped and spotlessly clean
The king size bed was extremely comfortable. We loved the fact we were a minute from the beach but also Hythe is a great location to visit so many towns along this coastline - Folkestone, Deal, Whitstable, Sandwich to name a few. Also the town itself is a little gem with great places to eat and quirky little shops.

Great holiday in a fantastic property …

We had a fantastic time staying at Captain’s Quarters in Hythe

There is so much to do in the area, and the accommodation itself was absolutely perfect. Hythe it self has a unique shops and enjoyed our walk up the canal.

The property is one building with three apartments, and when booking we noticed that all of them were beautifully furnished .

We chose Captain’s Quarters specifically as we have a small dog asked Joanne if we could bring her, we were grateful we could. Just across the road was a lovely playing fields were we walked the dog. It was very convenient.

The location is unbeatable — you can literally walk out of the door, turn the corner, and within seconds you’re on the beach. The beach is stony but absolutely beautiful, with a great promenade to walk along.

The apartment was very well maintained and had everything we needed for a comfortable holiday.
We also visited a number of restaurants during our stay and found them all to be really lovely.

There was so much to see and do. We visited Dymchurch with the Miniature Railway, travelled up to Dungeness,

We spent time exploring Folkestone itself, the shops and the harbour area. There is so much going on — it really was fantastic.

Overall, we had an absolutely great time and would highly recommend Captain’s Quarters. We’d happily stay again.

We stayed at The Captain's Quarters in August 2025 - very disappointing

We stayed at The Captain's Quarters in August 2025 - it is owned by Alstanvy Getaways. The location is extremely good, but there the positive aspects end. The apartment was not clean, with visible stains on the furniture, scuff marks on walls, and dust on surfaces. There was a smell of damp throughout and there was mould in the bathroom, in the bin lids, and in the powder dispenser drawer of the washing machine. The bathroom bin was filthy and had no liner. The shower had no temperature control and fluctuated from cold to dangerously hot with no warning. There was a filthy, rusty BBQ outside in an area that was overgrown with weeds and had bricks lying around which constituted a tripping hazard. The small path to the front door is all broken and cracked – another tripping hazard. There was no way a gardener had been and I’d be very surprised if a cleaner had either. The outside area where the car was parked was full of tall weeds and broken stonework – another tripping hazard. The state of the accommodation had a very negative impact on our holiday and the whole thing was extremely disappointing. I’ve never complained before about any of the accommodation I’ve booked, so this was very upsetting especially as it was a holiday with my grandson. These do not reflect the photos in the listing which looks clean. The Owner would not enter into any discussions and denied all my claims, however, my photographs back up my comments and Booking.com has now issued me compensation as a result of same.
