Master of fake back drops
1) Fake back drops for Hikari Shimoda figurines. Toys were sold to resellers, none were actually released on their site.
2) Even at the Shanghai Toy Expo, they are stupid enough (or think that buyers are stupid enough) to use the same lady as the "winner of the purchase-lucky draw" on both days.
3) Go onto Chinese shopping site (2.taobao.com), there is a seller that has listed all of the products that they have created, from the Yoskay Yamamoto, Hikari Shimoda, Gary Baseman etc. Clearly this is one of their resellers, or even themselves selling the product at an extremely high mark-up.
4) Sorayama SURFER sculpture pre-order: buyers had paid up and waited for over 1 year, no sign yet - although they are allowed to get a refund. Meanwhile, Sorayama posted a message on his instagram (5 October 2018): "Sorry for the delay 🙏 almost ok but still have some issue to solve details of this👀 if u can’t wait, claim to @apportfolio @nanzukaunderground ☝️since I haven’t got any money form these gangs yet🖕😁" - and one of the guys doing the KAWS figurine insinuated that it's not Nanzuka Underground with the problems - because APPortfolio is in-charge of the production side.
5) The Sorayama X-Large drop was also orchestrated, go to some Taiwanese/Hong Kong toy stores that have shared images of the batch they got. How can they possibly get a hold on 50 of the items? Oh, it's because the lucky draw at their Hong Kong art show is a sham too. The numbers distributed to people in the queue were never actually in the draw.
Overall... they have a good collection and range of artists both big and small, but the company is shady as hell.
