Great car, nice experience
The car was clean, and practically new, with less than 10,000 km on board. Driving a Fiat Panda along the remote roads of Tuscany was indeed a unique experience. The pick-up and drop-off process was quick, and the deposit funds were released the very next day.

The car was okay
The car was okay, nice people at the office. A bit dissapointing was the lack of a parking card for the blue zones in the cities. And that there wasn’t any windshield washer fluid for the windows in the car!

scam artists
Bought a car that supposedly had a full NCT. They had paid off a tester in the Arklow centre to pass a car, then gave it to a staff member there to sell as a third-party sale, and there was no chance this car passed any test.
Reponse:
The name of this company is on the NCT cert as the owner of the vehicle and that the test centre is Arklow. I fully believe they paid off an inspector to pass the vehicle. I have contacted NCTs and the Gardí to investigate

Both batteries from E Bikes died on us…
Both batteries from E Bikes died on us as we were driving back from Palermo to Mondello even though they were 90% full on one bike and 100% on the other before we started driving to Palermo. We had to drive manually 9 kilometers back. Nobody informed us about the bike's reach.

We would like to clarify that the batteries of our e-bikes do not have a fixed number of hours of use or a guaranteed range, as the battery consumption depends on several factors, including the level of assistance selected, how much the motor is used, the route and terrain, and the rider’s pedaling.
It is also important to note that continuing to pedal helps reduce battery consumption and, depending on the system and riding conditions, can contribute to maintaining or recovering some battery charge.
We always recommend using the electric assistance appropriately and monitoring the battery level throughout the ride, especially on longer journeys. We’re sorry if this information was not sufficiently explained to you at the time of rental, and we appreciate your feedback.

Unexplained €295 charge after returning the car
Unfortunately, our overall experience with Automania has turned into a very disappointing one.
The rental itself and the return of the car were initially fine. The vehicle was returned with a full tank, and according to the final rental documents, the amount due was €0.00.
However, after the €700 security deposit was apparently released, we suddenly noticed a separate charge of €295 on the credit card — without any clear explanation, invoice, or information at the time of return.
What makes this especially frustrating is that this additional amount is extremely high compared with what we actually paid for the rental itself. We are not refusing to pay legitimate costs, but we do expect such a significant charge to be clearly explained and documented.
We contacted the company through CHECK24 three days ago and the case is still being processed, with no clarification so far.
At this point, we are leaving a 1-star review mainly because we simply want someone to look into this properly and explain what the €295 charge is for. If there is a reasonable explanation and the matter is resolved fairly, we will of course be happy to update this review.
For now, however, an unexplained charge of this size after an otherwise normal vehicle return is simply not acceptable.

If any damage is identified during the subsequent inspection the damages are then assessed by the partner body shops we work with. Once the repair estimate is received, Automania will proceed with charging the corresponding amount.

The didn‘t try to force us to get another expensive insurance since we aleady got one by booking via check24.
Also the drop off was easy and quick. The car was also modern.

Smooth, Professional & Stress-Free Car Rental Experience in Sicily
Excellent experience from start to finish. We were pleasantly surprised to receive an almost-new hybrid Peugeot 3008, complete with three booster seats for our children. The car was modern, comfortable, and very fuel-efficient.
Due to an unexpected eruption of Mount Etna, our flight was diverted to Palermo instead of Catania. The company was very understanding and kindly waived the additional fee for our late-night pickup, which we greatly appreciated.
The staff were polite, professional, and efficient. It took only about 20 minutes to collect the car and less than 15 minutes to return it.
Overall, we had a smooth and very positive experience. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone renting a car in Catania or visiting Sicily.

We were given a car that had damage on…
We were given a car that had damage on it and were given no option but to take that vehicle or have no rental car. We were not assured at that time that we wouldn't be charged for that damage, so we documented the damage for future use, if needed. It was definitely a very uncomfortable situation at the time due to a bit of a language barrier, and the fact that we had to walk down a sidestreet to get our car and then were just told 'here is your car', even though it didn't feel very official or that we were driving away in a legitimate vehicle, especially since it had existing damage. I took the insurance with rental company and have the backing of AMEX and our personal insurance, but it is always a bit unnerving to drive in a foreign country, and this type of situation did not leave us feeling very confident that we were dealing with a reputable company.
