Credit Card Wrongfully Rejected – Poor Handling at Bari Airport
Very disappointing experience with Automania at Bari Airport.
At pickup, I presented a valid credit card. The card has both credit and debit functionality, but with separate details and a proper credit account. The agent refused to accept it simply because the physical card also shows debit features.
This restriction is NOT stated anywhere in their payment policy.
I contacted DiscoverCars support on the spot. They verified my card and confirmed it should be accepted. They even tried to explain this directly to the Automania agent, who was uncooperative, rude, and frankly repulsive in their attitude.
As a result, I was forced to pay for their coverage unnecessarily.
This felt like an arbitrary rule and very poor customer service.

We would like to clarify that, as stated in our Terms and Conditions, a valid credit card is required for the security deposit. In cases where a card is identified as a debit card or does not meet the required criteria, it cannot be accepted for this purpose. In such situations, the purchase of Full Insurance becomes mandatory in order to proceed with the rental.
These conditions are in place to ensure clear and secure handling of deposits and liability during the rental period.

The car we received was good.
2 points of dislike:
- we didn't find the pick-up spot directly so we had to call 2 times. The woman was a bit annoyed and not always friendly in her reply to us.
- they keep the deposit blocked for more then a week after returning the car. We are still waiting...

Good value and convenient
The staff are nice and helpful and understand English. The checkin was quick as was the checkout. The pickup/dropoff is a very short walk from Pisa airport which is good.
Great value car rental and I will use them again.

We rent a Polo from 11-4/20-4-2026.
Get the car from the airport very fast. (Employer Elena). The car was very clean inside and outside. They help us very well. There was a private problem with family and I told Automania staff they helped me so good. The car was rent on my name and I must go for private issue to an other country. The staff made a new contract and they charged nothing. Excellent staff. The car return was in a minute done. I give Automania a 10

Place to avoid
Only at the checkin they told me there is an additional charge to bill the rent to my company.
The car was dirty outside and inside.
No one answered to the official phone number and I tried several times.
No key box.
Opening hours not respected. 14:48 instead of 14:30. Result: I lost my train for few minutes (the train station is really close, about 200mt).

Car was great, but office is hard to find
Car was great, friendly staff, no problems after returning the car. The location of the office is a bit off and hard to find though (It's not located inside the arrival hall of Catania Airport, but in a separate complex near Terminal C).

When we went to pick up the car we had booked, they gave us a better car, a 2005 Toyota Auto X, brand new with 2,000 kilometers, everything was fine. The only thing that surprised me in the end was that they asked us for 20 euros to wash this small car.
