Good but not great.
Purchased a Seat Leon from Avalon motors. Pleased with the car and the service received. Communication was good throughout, and the dealer provided flexibility and help with the purchase. It would have been great, except for an emphasis (repeated) on taking out warranty insurance - this was linked to a 'sponsored' supplier and being honest spoilt what would have a very good experience.

My partner was very interested in purchasing a citroen C3 Aircross, so I drove from Bath to Glastonbury to view vehicle ( I live in kent ). I met Matt one of the sales team, very charming and professional. I looked round the vehicle and test drove, I was happy with the vehicle so we had a deal, Matt told me he would let his partner know (also called Matt) about me coming down viewing and will make a deposit in the morning with the extra warranty to purchase. My partner would have a new car happy ending. Not so happy, I received a call at 10:23 from Matt telling me the other Matt has just sold the car. We'll as you could imagine I am not pleased, they didn't even call me to ask if the offer of me and my partner still wanting to buy the vehicle still stands, just a call to let me know that they have sold it instead.
Be careful who you deal with. Chuckle brothers spring to mind, very unprofessional.

Good afternoon Lee, I appreciate that you are disappointed that the vehicle you were interested in on Wednesday evening has now been sold. I do feel it relevant though, in this instance to correct a couple of details within your review. After you viewed the vehicle, we made you an offer to purchase it at that moment, pay a non-refundable £500 deposit and remove the vehicle from sale. This option was declined by you, as you wanted to have a think about it and discuss it with your partner. If you were happy to proceed (as you have said in your review) we would have taken your deposit and removed the vehicle from sale straight away. It is clearly in our interest to sell a a car if we have the opportunity to do so. You did say, that you would think about it overnight and come back to us in the morning. It is company policy that no vehicle is removed from sale without a deposit, and as such remains on sale to the open market. We open at 08.30 every morning and are reachable via email, or through our answerphone service at any time of day. There were no messages from you when we opened today saying that you wanted to leave a deposit. Another customer contacted us overnight and expressed an interest in the same vehicle. This customer did not agree to buy the car until approximately 09.30 this morning, meaning there was over an hour (from the time that we opened) for you to contact us and leave your deposit. You did not do this. I would like to apologise once again for the disappointment of the vehicle being sold to someone else, however I do not feel it fair and reasonable to insinuate that we have been unfair or unprofessional by selling a vehicle to someone who is willing to leave a deposit and buy it. We are a family business and take great care to ensure that all of our customers, and potential customers are treated fairly and equally.

Pointless warranty. They won't fix
I purchased a vehicle along with a 3 month warranty. Vehicle went back twice and mechanics couldn't find any faults. Second time it went back the mechanics drove the car. Felt an issue and basically said it was normal for a car to judder and hesitate under load. I was told I shouldn't be driving like that.
Brought the car home. Changed the spark plugs and coil packs. Problem has gone and drives as it should.
£150 down but the cars working well.
Sales team where decent. Service team and mechanics need a good shake!!

I recently purchased a 2015 Volvo XC70…
I recently purchased a 2015 Volvo XC70 from Avalon Cars and had a fantastic experience.
Nick was very helpful throughout my dealings with him and arranged for me to collect the car on a Saturday afternoon.
There was a small fault with the car after a couple of weeks and I brought the car back to the garage. They sorted the issue and loaned me a car so I could get home.
I would not hesitate to buy another car from Avalon Cars and would recommend them to anyone.

Bought car (my son) 12k and sales person very helpful.
Travelled up on train and over 3hr drive home.
However, car has broken down within 2 months (on a busy road) had to get it towed to garage to get fixed but no reimbursement as yet and still need to get sensor replaced. Will update and let you know if sorted or if going to court!

Following on from our earlier response to your review that was posted on the 14/11/2022. We did explain that we would like to make contact with you to discuss this issue. We outlined above that we have been unable to locate any contact details for you and asked for you to get in touch so that we can discuss this and move forward. Today is the 26/11/2022 and despite requesting that you get in touch to discuss the matter to our knowledge we have received no contact from yourself other than this review, which you have now updated. As we have previously requested, please could you get in touch with us either via phone (01458 835000) or via email (matttrice@avalonmotorco.com) so that we can have an opportunity to discuss this issue. We are open 7 days a week and also have an answerphone system. We have searched your name within our systems, and it doesn't return any results, possibly because the vehicle is in your son's name. Sadly, without a registration number of the vehicle in question, or any contact details we have no way to get in touch. I again ask that you make contact with us so that we can have an opportunity to deal with the matter.
Today is the 28/11/2022 and following on from your edited review on the 26/11/2022 (where you have detailed that you have had no reimbursement from us) and our second attempt to reach out to you to rectify the matter we have still not heard from you. Avalon Motors false advertising, BEWARE
Avalon Motors falsely advertised a vehicle that I bought, rejected the car under the sale of goods act, got a solicitor involved when Avalon refused to hand back my part exchange vehicle citing they had spent money preparing it for sale, Agreed to pay them for the work carried out to get my part exchange car back. No apology, nothing. Would give no star if I could.

Unfortunately there was an error carried out by the manufacturer when the vehicle was first registered. This meant that the model of the vehicle in question was detailed incorrectly. The V5 registration document detailed the model incorrectly along with all provenance and HPI providers. This is a very rare incident and unfortunately this issue was created by the original manufacturer rather than Avalon.
Againsed FCA Guidelines
If you buy a vehicle through them but dont take out their finance they will charge you a £500 administration fee on top of the sale price because they loose out on their comission from the finance company.
This made me pull out from buying the vehicle from them as I think it's completely wrong to charge the customer for your lost comission.

If a customer chooses to finance their purchase using a lender that is outside of our approved panel of lenders, then we charge an administration fee which is outlined on our website.
We do not charge customers any admin fee if they choose to use one of our in house finance partners or if they choose to purchase the vehicle outright.

After one simple enquiry through motors.co.uk to ask if a car was still available they gave my details to MotoNovo Finance and they then emailed me with my own personal finance quote.
I didn't ask for and neither did I need finance. I did not consent for you to share my details and it is illegal to use your customer details like this.
Part of their sales person email reply read "I have also sent you a personalised quote from our main finance provider. Many of our customers choose to keep their capital and borrow against it, as this makes the most financial sense currently. The finance quote will allow you to adjust the term and the deposit to suit your requirements. Should you need to contact me about anything then please don't hesitate to get on touch"
When I queried this he said it was so their customers know their options. By getting your customer their own 'personalised quote' you are not giving your customer an option are you?
Also the bit that reads, "Many of our customers choose to keep their capital and borrow against it, as this makes the most financial sense currently" ... when did your employees train to become financial advisers?
Any customer needing finance would naturally ask the car sales they intend to purchase from for a quote first, I've never known anyone not do that when needing car finance. Stop forcing it on your prospective customers who never intended to apply for car finance.

We do send a personalised finance quote to every customer that enquires into one of our vehicles. This is so that all customers can make an informed decision of how they would like to purchase, and the different purchase options available. The decision to pay outright or to finance the vehicle in some way lies solely with the customer.
There is never any assumption that any customer needs finance, nor are we attempting to force anything on to our customers. It is simply so that any person can be in receipt of all the potential ways to purchase, so that they can make the right choice that is suitable for them.
Again I would like to take the opportunity to apologise if you feel that we have responded to your enquiry inappropriately, and wish you luck in your search for a new vehicle.

Your cars have there milage tampered with check your mot history for milage, clearly don't check anything?

At Avalon we conduct a full HPI check on any vehicle that we offer for sale. We do this to ensure that the vehicles, and their history are genuine prior to advertising them. The HPI check ensures that all vehicles are free from any finance, not scrapped, stolen or written off. This check also ensures that the vehicles have not been imported or exported from the UK and that the authorities have no interest in them. It is not unheard of for the mileage on a previous MOT to be entered incorrectly at the time of test. This is the case with the vehicle you are referring to. We have contacted the MOT test centre who carried out the previous MOT and they have confirmed to us that they have entered the incorrect mileage at the time of the test. We are currently in the process of getting this amended with the DVSA. Due to COVID-19 and as I’m sure you will be aware the DVLA / DVSA are experiencing huge backlogs and the vehicle information being updated has been affected by this. We are a family run business and have been operating here in Glastonbury since 1987, our business is built on reputation and we work hard to ensure we offer our customers the best quality vehicles and service. I can assure you and all our customers we do not CLOCK vehicles as you have stated and it seems unreasonable that you have taken the decision to publicly attempt to cause as much harm to our business without even speaking to us first to register your concern. I see that you conducted a live chat via our website last night at 10pm and had written this review at 10:12pm!
They will charge you for everything Inc service and warranty
They have some really nice vehicles and the sales guy I dealt with was very helpful. However....BE WARNED they will charge you for a 3 month warranty and will not ensure the vehicle doesn't need a service: they will try to charge you for that! Apparently every car goes through many checks, and yet I had to replace several fuses to make everything work when I got home. Very poor experience with these guys.
