Pay more and go with different rental company
Checkin to get car was very delayed and we got a upgrade of car due to this. After driving 150 miles the car broke and went on minimum mode. We called road assistance which guided us to continue and she eould book a car in the next city. After 20 minutes she calls back and tells us that they do not have a car for us but if we drive back to the city we cane from they will have one for us. Car is not droving well but after 1 hour we get to Shanadoe airport Avis office. Guy behind counter has bor received any booking and does not have a car in same class so we are downgraded. The guy says that we shoul pay for 1/2 tank and does nothing to help us get a car somewhere else. We are as he says on our own but we can drive to any other avis counter to see if they have any car. And he means that we should continue in the broken car!! Excuse me, what?!?! We end up taking the smaller car and has to pays for the gas otherwise we cannot leave Again excuse me, what?!? He liderally takes us hostages??? We have been spending 3-4 hours on the road due to this broken car and then we also need to pay for going back snd forward?! Once again, excuse me, what!?!!
I've rented through avis a few times…
I've rented through avis a few times now and it is not good. The cars themselves are ok, but the customer service is almost non-existant. Once i paid extra for a gps-device that was so unreliable it was a joke. I could barely charge it, and it kept losing connection. I got promised a refund, but i have not seen it yet. And getting hold of Avis is IMPOSSIBLE. They don't pick up the phone, and the contact formula on their website does not work. Another time i rented a car the avis-worker lost her patience really quick when we ordered a big car to drive in Rocky Mountains, because we wanted lots of space and a good car for the mountains. We were then given a sporty Chrysler that i could barely fit in. We asked for another car even a mid-size class would do. But then we were constantly told to upgrade and pay 330 Dollars extra. Only after telling her medium size car SAME PRICE as we already paid for big size, she found some other models. And i get the impression this was only possible because she had no energy left to explain to us why we had to "upgrade, pay more etc" since english is not our main language. At no time were we rude, all we wanted was an ordinary big car which we would feel comfortable driving in the mountains, instead of an expensive sporty fancy Chrysler which would cost us a fortune if we left the smallest scratch. When i asked questions i was shocked how fast she lost patience with us, instead of helping she just sighed and said i don't know how to explain it to you. Maybe if Avis took a little more interest in customers needs for the car we could have avoided all this confusion. So we ended up paying the price of a big car but got a medium size car. In a fair world that should get me a discount, but apparently that's not the way Avis sees it. So Avis, if you see this review you are VERY welcome to answer, i'd still like a discount for the car and a refund for the gps-device.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from Avis...
Warning
It said 1200$ for 14 days and then I pay and the bill turned into 1800$ and I cancelled it right away not even 2 seconds past, but no I have to pay 50$ for a cancel fee when they already scammed me with the price of the car…. Stay away from this crocked company.
Tripled the price _after_ I gave them the credit card
Found and booked a car online shown at a price of 919 DKK. Confirmed the reservation with a credit card and then got an email with a confirmation but now at a price of 3225 DKK.
Called the service desk only to be told that "due to the situation" they do not respond to the phone calls. Online contact form is only applicable for concluded rentals.
Words fail me in describing the thievery of such an approach
Fraud
Contacted customerservice to update creditcard on my preferred profile. Next they have charged the card when i have made no rental

No help from AVIS
I was in the unfortunate situation of being hit by a stone from the side, crashing the large window to the left of the driver seat. I contacted seven AVIS employees for help and guidance, but never received any.
The incidence – July 21 approx. 16:10
In the rural area of Beaujolais we are hit by a stone from the side and the left driver window crashes. We stop the car and call the AVIS Breakdown service
AVIS contact #1 – July 21, 16:19, call to AVIS Breakdown Service
Following the AVIS instructions, we call the AVIS Breakdown Service for help and guidance. The employee refuses to guide and help us in regard what to do with the car but insists that we are contact the police to have the police inspect the damages and to make a report. The employee instructs us to contact 112.
We call 112 (on 16:24) and is passed on to the closest local police station in Cluny, France. The police refuses to drive to the place of the incident and to make a report given the damages (a broken window by a flying stone).
AVIS contact #2, July 21, 16:50 the AVIS Office in Macon, France
With the information that AVIS Breakdown Service will not help us without a police report, we decide to drive with the broken window to the nearest AVIS branch in Macon, France, assuming a face-to-face encounter would increase the likelihood of AVIS help. We arrive 16:50 which is 10 minutes before closure of the AVIS Office. The employee refuses to help us, since she has no cars available, does not know what to do with a car with a broken window and is just about to close the office. I ask the employee to help me contact another AVIS office to help me, but she insists that I should make the call myself.
AVIS contact #3, July 21, 16:55, AVIS Customer Service Center from the AVIS Office in Macon, France
Using the AVIS Macon Office phone, I call the AVIS Customer Service Center for assistance and guidance. I talk with an employee from the central call center. She refuses to help us and insists that that the local branch in Macon should help us. I manage to convince the local AVIS Office manager to talk with the central service center. They talk together over the phone and I’m instructed to leave the AVIS Office which is closing to await a call from AVIS France for guidance. We leave the office in the car with the broken window to our place of stay during our vacation.
AVIS contact #4, approx. 16:20 from the AVIS France Service center
When driving back to our place of stay in the rented car, an AVIS employee calls us to inform us that she refuses to help us, since we have rented the car through a broker (rentalcars.com) and that it is the responsibility of the broker to help us. I pledge her to help us getting the window fixed or to help us to a car replacement, but she refuses. I inform her that the car is fully insured and the fact that we have used a broker to select AVIS as our car provided should not exclude us from receiving services normally expected from a car rental provider such as AVIS. Nevertheless, she refuses to help and insists that I contact the broker.
Upon our return to our place of stay, I contact the broker. Rentalcars provides me with very specific contract guidance and informs me, that it is ‘the responsibility of AVIS as the owners of the car...to issue an immediate replacement, advise a course of action as far as repairs are concerned, or accept an early return of the vehicle.’
AVIS contact #5, July 21 17:59 call to AVIS Office Hamburg Airport (the place of rental)
Since I have now lost faith in AVIS helping me fixing the car or replacing the car, I decide to propose shorten my vacation and to drive the car to AVIS in Hamburg Airport. I call the AVIS office in Hamburg and explain the situation and my proposal, given the fact that AVIS will not help me. The employee cannot endorse that I drive the car to Hamburg with a broken window nor can he guide me to an alternative solution. He refused to help/make a decision but insists that I call AVIS Break down center again.
AVIS contact #6, July 21 18:06 call to AVIS Breakdown Center
I call the AVIS Breakdown center and explain the situation and lack of AVIS help and guidance. I explain and document my lack of success with the French police in obtaining a report. The employee refuses to help or to endorse my proposal of driving the car with a broken window to Hamburg. He informs me that he needs to speak with a supervisor and that I will receive a call very soon. I’m never called back.
AVIS contact #7, July 22 9:41 call to AVIS Breakdown Center
The employee is not able to fix nor replace the car, but for the first time in my interaction with AVIS, I’m in contact with an employee who can make a decision to endorse my proposal to drive the car to Hamburg with the risk associated (which showed to be a very cold experience).
In conclusion a very bad experience, which I will never expose my family to again
Unrecorded dents on van!
Hired a van from Aabyhoej. The van had 2 undocumented dents. Upon ending the rental I was contacted by Avis to say they were making a claim against me for this damage. In the end I did not have to pay as I was lucky enough to take photos before I left the Avis depot, even though the vans were parked within 30cm of each other.
Very poor service to have not documented the dents on the rental contract.
Thank you Avis Herning/Billund for such…
Thank you Avis Herning/Billund for such a great service.
I delivered my car some days before time and all values were adjusted with no issues. It is the second time that we use Avis services, both times great services.
If I could give "zero stars" I would do…
If I could give "zero stars" I would do so. I have been so badly treated from the AVIS European Call Center. The Danish set up is so so bad and customer focus not existing. Standard answers, long response time, etc etc.
Website is very often down and my app is not functioning either. Only using Avis because they have a great Milano, Malpensa office
I have high status ( Presidents Club) at Avis but not even that makes them take me serious. Bad, bad, bad
NEVER AGAIN
NEVER AGAIN ! Was forced to pay additional 2000 kroner for a damage there was already there at the car !
If only zero stars was an option..
If only zero stars was an option... Avis just ruined our family’s summer vacation plans by canceling our booking two weeks before we were scheduled to pick up a rental car in Copenhagen. We have previously rented with Avis and were really satisfied so it was a no-brainer to book a car for our family holiday around Denmark. Months in advance I booked a car again and promptly received a confirmation. But out of the blue Avis called me to inform that no cars are available and that they have no suggestions for what to so or alternatives to offer, nor any offer for compensation. I am flappergasted by the level of unhelpfulness and indifference demonstrated by this act. Further, the agent who called showed no sympathy or compassion. It almost seemed like a prank call.
Rented a car for a trip to Sweden
Rented a car for a trip to Sweden. The car was nice and in great condition and pick-up went smoothly.
Unfortunately, upon return the Avis employ who I returned the car to remarked on a small mark on the car rim smaller then a finger nail, and I was charged for the damage, which i did not notice when I picked it up.
Luckily, after contacting the Avis customer support by mail and explaining the situation I was refunded the additional charge for the damage. Support was fast and good.
Shocking
Shocking
Leases a Car for 4 months at 6500 a month and I am still waiting for 5 days now for a new Car and a phone call. What a joke of a company.
BIGGEST SCAM BUSINESS MODEL
When plannig our trip some of the swedish people in our group had been directed to the swedish Avis website when searching for rental cars with pick up at Copenhagen Airport. Here they found a REALLY good deal. it was so good that we called Avis to confirm that the price was correct and included free millage. Additionally we informed our address and that we were living in Denmark, but simply booked through the swedish site, which was no problem.
When picking up the car we were suddenly told that we had to pay an extra fee of 3600 kr because we lived in Denmark and therefore could not book from Sweden. Additionally they informed us that we did not have free millage (even though it was written in our contract) which would cost us 3000 kr more. They admitted that the fault was theirs as we had been misinformed but insisted that we should have read their Danish terms of condotions on their website and not the version they had included on the email confirmation we recieved after booking over the phone.
As a response to the non existent customer service where they refused to even give us a discount on the now 6600 kr more expensive car even though they were in the wrong, their only reply was 'we are sorry but you will have to pay or you can cancel your vacation'! of course after pressing them they were willing to offer us free navigation as a compensation - the biggest joke ever!
They will never ever see any of our faces or recieve as much as a penny from us and should not recieve your's either!! They scam people as business model and don't care about it..
A true nightmare
I rented a car with Avis while traveling in France back in August. Unfortunately the car broke down after just driving a few hours on the freeway. Those things can happen, but what happened after that was a true nightmare. I’ve never in my entire life experienced so poor customer service. Avis simply didn’t help and they even hung up the phone on me, when I called them.
I was stuck for a whole day in a garage and when we finally got a new car 24 demanding hours later, they charged me a fee for changing the vehicle. Btw, prior to all of this, I had bought the super cover insurance - well, one can only imagine what my experience would have been without insurance at all.
All in all - I strongly recommend NOT to rent a car with Avis - if you wish to have a smooth and pleasant trip.

Stay away!!!
Stay away!!!
We ordered a car through Avis but had to cancel our trip and therefor the car.
And they have withdrawed more than kr 3000,- from us.
No refunding policy!
Not to be trusted
So according to Avis a Renault Kadjar is similar to Mercedez A class...🤬
BMW, Audi or VW are similar....NOT Renault
Scam
I would never expect that such a big Company is scammers. I have learned my lesson and never see this face again.
Nor recommended
