Worst experience of my life

I returned my B&O earbuds almost a month ago using the courier Bang & Olufsen themselves arranged. It has now been 23 days, and I still haven’t received my refund. After repeatedly contacting customer service, I was finally told that UPS lost the parcel in transit. Despite this being an issue between B&O and their chosen courier, I was informed that I must wait up to 30 days for them to “investigate” before they will even consider issuing my refund.

This has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I followed all their instructions, returned the faulty item exactly as requested, and yet I am left waiting—with no refund, no resolution, and very slow communication from B&O. A company of this reputation should handle issues like this far more efficiently and take responsibility for parcels lost by their own appointed courier.

Unacceptable for a "Premium" Brand

In light of their abysmal rating on the platform, I suppose most people would not be surprised to learn that B&O treats their customers poorly. Honestly, I cannot fathom how a company that presents itself as this premium / borderline luxury brand can be so inadequate on so many fronts, with little to no public backlash. Nevertheless, to cut a long story short, B&O’s most high-end headphones (i.e. the Beoplay H100) are completely unusable if you happen to own either an iPhone 17 Pro or an iPhone 17 Pro Max. In essence, this means that the headphones I bought less than half a year ago, have been useless for more than 2 months. To make matters worse, B&O seem incapable of keeping their story straight – at times, they insists the issue is with the iPhone, yet they are adamant that they will fix the issue with a future update and there was even a blog post regarding the multiple issues with Apple’s latest devices.

So which way is it? Bear in mind that it is very much B&O’s job to make sure the headphones work with the single most popular smartphone of 2025, and that any cheap headset can at least stay connected to an iPhone 17 Pro – something which cannot be said about the Beoplay H100. While I do understand that the new chip could have indeed caused some of the issues (1) Sony and other manufacturers seem to have figured them out and (2) more than two months after the phone’s release B&O are still incapable of ensuring even the basics i.e. enabling the headphones to pair and stay paired for a prolonged time with an iPhone 17 Pro. This is unacceptable, especially given the brand image B&O are trying to present. Additionally, maintaining that customers have to base their smartphone choice on what devices can pair to B&O headphones is delusional. No one will switch their smartphone, or transition away from iOS to Android because of a pair of headphones.

For the sake of providing all the necessary details, for 2+ months my headphones: (1) randomly connect and disconnect, (2) spontaneously pause content, (3) constantly switch from ANC to transparency and vice versa. Furthermore, the battery percentage is inconsistent, they do not charge to full (despite the indicator switching color to green), and a whole plethora of other issues are also present. I handed them over to the official B&O store from where I bought them only to be told that they could not identify any issues with the hardware (leaving aside the fact that an issues is indeed present, which B&O have admitted to in a publicly available blog post). Every time I try to speak to a B&O official I am constantly told that the problem is the iPhone 17 Pro and I am offered neither a solution, nor any form of compensation / way forward. I was happy to wait, but I feel like enough time has passed and this is no minor pet peeve.

While I do not expect of B&O to miraculously acknowledge that consumer protection is a thing in the EU and that buyers enjoy certain rights that extend beyond the point of purchase of devices, I just hope that other people can learn from my experience – luxury does not necessarily mean “of good quality” or even passable for that matter. That goes for both B&O’s hardware/software and their (mis)treatment of customers. Buyers beware. There is nothing wrong with people paying a premium for a certain brand – unless the latter happens to stand on nothing more than pure artifice.

Lousy customer service

Lousy customer service. Charge premium prices but their products don't work and their response is basically "We've got your money now. You can do one." I have a Beoplay P2 speaker that won't play for more than a few seconds, or at best a few minutes before playback stops and has to be restarted on my phone. Contacted them several times about this issue. They send stock troubleshooting response but when that doesn't work, they are absolutely no help. So I have an expensive speaker that is about as much use as a house brick. Refused to offer any suggestions, advice, compensation or help of any kind. Just washed their hands of the problem. Don't buy their products.

Firmware Update Rendered My Beoplay EQ Defective – No Remedy Offered

I have been a loyal Bang & Olufsen customer and have always valued the brand for its quality. My Beoplay EQ earbuds worked flawlessly for years. However, immediately after the most recent software update, the left earbud began disconnecting repeatedly. The right earbud continues to function, but the left drops out every few seconds, making them unusable.

I contacted Customer Care and explained the issue clearly, including the fact that it began only after the update. Their response was disappointing: they claimed “no other users are experiencing this issue” (which is demonstrably false, as there are hundreds of reports on Reddit and other forums of the same fault) and offered me nothing more than a 30% discount voucher for a future purchase. They also stated that repair or exchange is “not possible” because my product is out of warranty.

This is unacceptable. A manufacturer‑issued update that breaks a product is their responsibility, regardless of warranty status. Under UK consumer law, goods must remain fit for purpose and free from defects. Warranty expiry does not absolve a company of liability when its own software renders a product defective.

Bang & Olufsen’s refusal to acknowledge the widespread nature of this fault, and their attempt to dismiss it with a voucher, undermines their reputation for quality and fairness. Customers deserve better.

I urge Bang & Olufsen to:

Recognise this as a firmware‑related fault affecting multiple users.

Provide repair, replacement options rather than discount vouchers

Uphold the standards of customer care expected from a premium brand.

Until then, I cannot recommend Bang & Olufsen. A luxury brand should not leave loyal customers stranded when its own update causes a product to fail.

Why would I spend my money on another B&O product when I can go to your competitor- your offer of 30% discount had no understanding of the issue, this issue with left EarPods losing connection after a software update is soooo common.

Ref 1384935 made on the 2nd Nov. The EarPods are just over 2 years old. I was sooo happy with them until the software update made on the last few days of Oct 2025 and I’m going around and around in circles asking B&O to take ownership of the impact of their software update. As said they were working brilliantly.

Can you confirm if the software is owned by B&O ?

Hi, ****you didn’t answer my question nor did your customer service agent****

Most importantly the statement B&O provided is misleading in that “ No other users are experiencing this issue” is contradictory to hundreds of public reports.

This was your Customer Service statement - completely false. I thought such a brand would have more integrity.

Let me help:
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, specifically Sections 9, 10, and 19, goods must remain of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and consumers retain rights to enforce these terms even beyond warranty. A firmware update that renders the left earbud defective constitutes a breach of these statutory obligations.

It’s as simple as that.

B&O this is the reply from your customer service department…… a weak deflection even knowing many of your customers have had this issue….

“…From their assessment, the malfunction appears to be an unfortunate coincidence rather than a result that can be directly attributed to the update….”

I will now escalate to Trading Standards. It was your firmware that caused the issue.

My advise would be to never buy B&O as they lack integrity and the service is shocking - go with another competitor like Bose or Bowers!

Bad service and bad quality

Bad service and bad quality. I have earphones just used them 10 times and they are broken and cant be repaired. They look new but can throw them away so dont buy any product of B&O as it is not worth your time and money. Apple or temu will be a better option as you see they will reply within 24 hours but they think problem is solved after they replied but it aint so dont assume it is a good company but just a really bad company because they aint solving nothing but just make another product go broken. I had two earphones and after bringing both earphones they are more broken then before so stop answering on reviews B&O and start solving problems and do not advise me to buy a new product with bad quality for way too much money

Awful warranty support

Awful warranty support; Sent in my defective headphones only for there to be an issue with the shipping prompting a UPS investigation. Currently been dealing with this issue for a month, and the worst part is UPS wants to close the investigation but I can't get anyone from Bang and Olufsen to respond to either UPS or me. Any requests for assistance are only met with flat unhelpful instructions to wait for the "management team" and any attempts to directly contact the management team are blocked by the need to "schedule a time for management to call you" which they NEVER do. Ridiculous, inefficient support for what is supposed to be a premium brand. Will likely never purchase a product from this company again.

Edit: Responding to the company; my ticket number is 1376971

Edit 2: Still have received no reply from the company's support team despite their Trustpilot assurance that I would receive assistance promptly. Impossible to know how much longer I'll have to wait.

No service, no sollution, no communication

I have around 100.000 euro of B & O produscts in our house and a large collection of several terrabytes of music. Since the app update half a year ago i cannot play my music through the app anymore, which limits me incredebly. Since than i have sent at least 30 mails to B & O. The answer comes everytime from a boy or girl that had no idea what to do. answer is always: we are sorry end we put it through to the tecnicians. And than silence. No communication, no servoce and sollution. last week was an update but it dedn't work. answer: sorrt, we put it through to the technicians
i am desperate and so disappointed by the service ( NO SERVICE)

and now? nobody knows and me as a client certainly not.

here under there reply. If i like to reply on their ansewr..... that is not a possibility.......they now want a ticketnumer. welll....... i have about 30 ticketnumbers.......

Impeccable customer service

A fault developed in one of my earbuds and the whole process of contacting, returning, and replacing my headphones has been seamless.

My experience with over a dozen B&O products over the years have always been excellent, but it's the first time I've had to use post purchase support, and I was super impressed.

Bang & Olufsen. Premium prices, Temu service.

Prior to placing my order for the Beoplay H100, in the colour that had been launched mere minutes before as part of the limited edition Centennial Collection, I called the customer care team to enquire about stock levels. After such a limited number of Beoplay H95 headphones were produced in a particular colour, I wanted to ensure that I could still purchase them by the time I got paid. Bang & Olufsen would do well to rebrand this team as the "Couldn't Care Less About Customers" team. No matter who I've talked to from this team since, the total indifference I've been treated with and the tone of fake concern in everyone's voice is nauseating. Whilst most brands would ensure that their customer service teams had knowledge of basic things such as stock levels, I was told that the question had to be escalated to a different team and I would have to wait for that team to contact me via email. For a premium brand, this was a bit ridiculous.

Eventually, as I did not want to miss out on them, I purchased the headphones. Usually, a confirmation email is sent by any company that a customer buys something from within seconds or minutes of the transaction. Bang & Olufsen took two days to do this and did so only after I contacted the customer care team again. At the end of the call, despite confirming all of my details, an email confirming the order and the details of the call was sent to a completely different email address. In 2025, data breaches are common but this level of ineptitude was staggering. I reported this, received the same tone of fake concern from the person I talked to, and an investigation was promised. I've since heard nothing about this.

Three days later, I received an email from UPS to explain that my headphones would be delivered by the end of the day. I would have expected a premium brand such as Bang & Olufsen to use a premium courier with a premium service such as DHL. Even DPD would have been great. Their app provides customers with the opportunity to track the driver, be given an estimated time of delivery with an accuracy of a two minute period, and allows them to plan their day. This brand using a courier with the cheapest service and one of the worst reputations shows just how cheap they are once they have taken someone's money.

For a product which has had so much fuss made about the limited edition packaging, I was furious and disappointed to open the box and find it dented in several places. If not for being a collector's item then the £1,500.00 price tag should have guaranteed that the item was sufficiently protected. Instead, a single sheet of paper was used. Everything about this experience screamed "We are cheap."

I contacted the customer care team and we have since exchanged almost twenty emails. I have had to call multiple times besides in addition to these emails and gotten absolutely nowhere. I've not been able to talk to a supervisor or the customer care "management team" as they communicate only via the frontline agents. An alternative view is that they believe they are too good to talk to the customers who ensure they have jobs in the first place or are aware of such poor service and are afraid of getting a bollocking from customers who expect better.

I live 30 minutes away from the New Bond Street store in London. I have visited several times, being interested in several products, and met the store manager. I was promised a high-level of customer service, as "we really look after our clients", yet since been told that the store is separate from the online side of the business so cannot help. They agreed with my idea to exchange the item in-store, like for like, but said they had to "ask permission" from the online team. A promise to contact me by November 03 was not fulfilled and calling the store this evening solved nothing as they were not around. When we last talked, they said they understood my frustration and felt that they had promised me service that they could not provide. This is true. "The global flagship store" where I could receive assistance at anytime was rammed down my throat repeatedly yet has failed to live up to expectations.

Until I receive a pristine box and headphones, I cannot return my current headphones to John Lewis & Partners. Equally, I received an email this evening stating that omni-channel "buyer's remorse" was not offered, although it is wished that the service could be offered in the future, but I could refund the item and repurchase it. Shipping would be at my expense.

On balance, what was meant to be an exciting purchase has become a source of immense frustration. A simple problem to resolve has been met with numerous failures and "policies". I have since sent the CEO an email about a brand that tries so hard to stand out that it ends up doing so for all the wrong reasons. It's an absolute crying shame.

Bang & Olufsen Earset - an excoriating review

The timelines for this faulty product are:
12-Sep-25 - purchased Bang & Olufsen B&O Beoplay Earset (serial #30129770) from QVC online for £31.20
5-Oct-25 B&O Beolink App downloaded to my iPad in to register the Earset and obtain its 3 year "warranty"
31-Oct-25 One ear hook became detached from main product after less than 10 hours use
1-Nov-25 unable to fix so reported it as a fault under warranty to B&O
1-Nov-25 Nina of B&O replied that "this kind of damage is not something that is covered by our limited warranty"; she said I could read the limitations on the attachment but that did not mention Earset! She ended up asking for proof of purchase.
1-Nov-25 I replied to Nina at B&O with copy of QVC invoice for the Earset
1-Nov-25 Marc of B&O replies confirming that the Earset is still under warranty and requested my full details, product serial number and description of fault. Additionally he noted that if the Earset is found to be defective upon inspection and no stock exists of my model and colour (white) would I prefer black or brown colour instead.
1-Nov-25 I sent all the requested information to Marc at B&O requested brown colour replacement if white is not available.
2-Nov-25 Jenson of B&O replies that some of the information provided in previous email "was incorrect ….at this point in time we are unable to proceed with your warranty claim". But then he continued asking for a full invoice (because the one QVC issues does not show full details of seller), date and place of purchase, product name and amount paid together with details of the incident that caused the damage.
2-Nov-25 I replied to Jenson enclosing a screen shot showing purchase from QVC plus their invoice (again) with repeated information as to date and place of purchase, product name and amount paid. As there was no incident that caused the damage I advised Jenson the ear hook fell off when I was putting the Earset on and also that it seemed to me that the various people involved at B&O were simply trying to wheedle their way out of a warranty claim for this defective Earset which is less than 2 months old and with maximum 10 hours use.
2-Nov-25 Marc of B&O replied that my case has now been escalated to their supervisory team for comprehensive review.
4-Nov-25 (today) Amy of B&O replies that their supervisors response is that checking the information on their system my Earset was registered to the B&O App before it was purchased online!! (This of course is physically impossible since I did not install the App until 23 days after purchase and fact that to register the Earset one must include its serial number which cannot be known until product received from seller). She implicitly added that B&O's warranty did not cover the faulty Earset and I should contact "the place of purchase for further assistance"
4-Nov-25 I replied to Amy that the App History on my iPad shows the Beolink was first downloaded on 5-Oct-25 and as it was purchased online on 12-Sep-25 "your waffle to get out of your so called warranty is a load of lies" and that I would be writing an excoriating review on as many websites as possible describing their feeble attempts to walk away from a clearly defective product and warning all potential purchasers of B&O products that their warranty is not worth the paper it is written on.
4-Nov-25 Badr of B&O replied confirming that the information on their system showed my Earset was registered to the B&O App before it was purchased online. He continued "Since our warranty requires the proof of purchase of the first purchase, we can't process a warranty with the provided proof of purchase" and "Please contact the store you have made the purchase from directly and inform them of our decision, and check if they are able to provide you with the original proof of purchase."
So in summary I repeat my warning to all prospective purchasers of B&O products that their warranty terms should not be taken at face value as the caveat emptor warning certainly applies to B&O.

Don’t bother buying at all

Avoid at all costs, been having issues for a year now.
I bought the Beoplay EX headphones in the UK assuming they would be of good sound quality etc. Had it for a few months and already started experiencing terrible sound and connectivity issues. I contacted customer service and sent it back and there was a fault in the first pair so they sent me a new one.

Thought I was done there, clearly not. Again, more issues came about, if anything worse. The sound was really low and crackly despite being on full volume and it never connected. So I sent the pair again and now I am waiting for my new one since they won’t give me any refund at all.

Avoid Bang and Olufsen at all costs and invest your money with either Apple or Sony. The customer service has been somewhat okay but unfortunately the products are very disappointing.

I was really looking forward to use B&O’s products but it’s been nothing but a nuisance and hassle for me.

B&O @ Dawsons is a pleasure ….

Customer Service from Kevin and all the team is always excellent ….. they go that “extra mile” to make sure they make you feel special …. I have been a loyal client for over 25 years now and you do not spend that long with any retail outlet unless you are happy …. & I and so many other long standing clients are testament to that !!

They charged $200cad duties for…

They charged $200cad duties for warranty of faulty products (only like $500 in value by the way), said they'd refund me and haven't for weeks. I have had to call everyday for weeks with full proof and they even told me to pay it and that I would be immediately refunded. Imagine a high end brand behaving like this... Do not trust their service one bit

My new Beosound A5 was broken

My new Beosound A5 was broken. I handed the product in at Frederiksberg B&O and they were exceptionally nice to help me. So they sent the product to Germany and had it repaired. This despite the fact that I had bought the product online and not from them. Thanks to them.

Cheating faux-luxury

This company cheats its customers with their veneer of luxury. The latest example is the hifi audio Bluetooth codec (LDAC) for the H100. When I bought them last February, LDAC support was shown on the app and website as “coming in 2025”. I went ahead and bought them anyway, also selling my H95 (which ironically already supported hifi Bluetooth audio via AptX Adaptive).

Since last week, any reference to LDAC codec on the H100 web page has disappeared. B&O quietly removed it, possibly ahead of the latest ad campaign. The promise of adding 3-device multipoint connectivity, via a software update this year, was also dropped from the product sheet. I feel betrayed as a customer and if I knew things would end up like this, I would have kept my H95 which I honestly loved.

This is also illegal according to German UWG (Section 5 about misleading advertising) and EU consumer law. The promised LDAC functionality was an essential characteristic that affected people's purchasing decision.

The removal of promised product features after purchase has been addressed in EU law and the FTC (although US-based) recently confirmed that manufacturers violate consumer protection laws when they “remove key features that were advertised” without disclosure. B&O not only did it quietly, but went ahead to jack up the prices for H100 despite a known lack of features.

As the cherry on the cake, they haven't even bothered to release a statement.

Poor Quality

Bought some Beoplay E8 earbuds for holidays less than 3 years ago.
They are purely used for holidays and sit in my travel case. They have maybe had 4 months worth of use since purchase.
They look practically new, sadly the left earbud battery is pretty much gone, it no longer holds charge.

Also when you remove the right ear bud the left one stops working, this is a bit of a pain as myself and the wife like to share on planes but it is what it is.

I reached out to customer service who requested I clean connectors, reset the headphones etc.
Followed everything they suggested but sadly they cannot resolve the issue.
Customer service advised I can buy a new set, I mean after the experience and frequency of use I doubt I will buy this brand again.

It would appear the quality this brand use to be known for has disappeared.

I brought a pair of b and o h95 a year…

I brought a pair of b and o h95 a year or so ago and I used it frequently. It was amazing sound but after a while the leather headband came loose and dislodged itself from the frame, I contacted customer service at the time and they told me they couldn't do anything and I'd have to pay for it to be repaired. I was going to buy the h100 but I couldn't risk it considering the poor treatment I received last time it's not worth risking it considering there is a high chance they won't refund me or repair it. I used to have a neolit 20 which I paid 500 for but I sold it to a friend not long ago for 100 as I found the build qaulity is poor. Shame on them. Don't buy their products they look good but they are not great and the customer support is horrendous. Direct turnaway. Don't buy their headphones your going to have problems if you use them regularly

Great product, but don’t buy it from B&O

The products are excellent, but if you buy from B&O direct (rather than a local retailer), they’ll send it via UPS, so you’ll wait for days, you’ll have to chase it repeatedly, you’ll have to challenge meaningless excuses about delays (eg “we are gaining the appropriate security access”).

Bottom line: great product, but buy it from a local retailer, not B&O
