Barnes and Noble is not helpful for publishing books if you need a signed document to prove copyright ownership over your books. They will not provide it to you even if Amazon is insisting on it. It has the ebook option but no bonus for authors to gain from. Once you publish on their platform, you have to find ways to market yourself if you don't want to use their services. They do not have book advertising options. Amazon is better if you want to be paid royalties for readers who read your books. Nook books don't have this option from what I can see. There is also no expanded distribution of your books, so everything stays within their website. You have to work with another publisher for global distribution. Copyright is a problem when it comes to producing puzzle books that quote a lot of scripture. Amazon also has its issues and both of these I honestly don't like.

At first I though this item was damaged due to the inferior (flimsy, no protection, minimal though expensive) packaging and shipping. On closer inspection it is clear the item was not in new condition when it was sent. If you are a collector or bibliophile do NOT buy books at BN.

You have to go to the store to buy books because if you order them online the shipping takes forever. It's the second time I ordered something online and had to wait a while to get it. The first time it took over a year to get the books I actually forgot about them and then the books showed up. The most recent was almost two months ago and i still haven't gotten them. I like the actual store but not ordering things online I do not want to anymore. I would rather go to the store and get the books I want.
It's now almost June still haven't got my books I ordered I can get the names of those books when I get the chance to

When I entered the store I could not find a worker to ask questions. I had to walk around the entire store to find someone. When I found a gentleman he was very helpful. I did not get his name. I was at the BN- 1553 Almonesson Rd in Westville, NJ around 10:20am-10:34am. When I went to the register the customer in front of me received excellent customer service. When it was my turn I had to ask the customer service rep to take my phone number (I am a member). I also had to ask her for a paper bag. When the next customer approached the register they were greated heartily. Both customers before and after me were given excellent customer service. They looked like the customer service rep. This type of behavior has to stop. Just because I do not look like you, my money is the same as your money. I deserve the same customer service. The reason I gave a three star review is because of the gentleman that helped find what I was looking for. Other than that, I would have given a one star review. The customer service rep theat assisted me name is Katelyn. Her type of behavior has to end.

Ordered a book for my Mom for Mother's Day and included a heart felt message to be sent with it, as they offered "Gift Message" option. No message was included at all and my elderly mother just received a book with no explanation at all. So disappointing.

Went to restroom. They only have gender neutral restrooms. I am tired of this kind of crazy behavior. Therefore after 20 plus years of buying 3 to 4 books and magazines per week I am canceling my membership and the stores.

Well I found an old gift card that still had the bar code on it but some of the numbers were not on the card since they had been smeared away....so I attempted to get the balance of my gift card and was unable to do so only because someone cock blocked me by calling the store and or getting at the cashier and manager to not even try to check and get the balance....it would have been one thing had they actually tried to check the balance, but they did not even try so I knew it was fishy ....so I still have the gift card without knowing the balance of it having been stymied by my least favorite stalker who tries to block me all the time every where I go and whatever I am trying to get done don't happen like this instance..

Purchased two audio books by gift card. One became corrupted a week after started listening. I attempted to troubleshoot at the direction of customer service without success. I was then told that I would need to enter credit card information to continue to access the book. No further assistance was provided.
3/21/23 After posting my disappointment, I received a refund to my gift card from B&N. Too little, too late. I already replaced the book through Audible. No credit card info required. No plans to use the gift card refund.

Crap online experience; awful customer service. I got my phone call cut off without warning by the customer service rep. Online it's hard to pay, much less get purchased periodicals and the like for my Nook. If Amazon still carried NYT and NYRB I'd be on my Kindle now. BN even cancelled my NYT order, saying I already own the content. From when? About 4 years ago! The pits!

This review is for Barnes & Noble. Stop claiming I have written a review for the wrong company. Shocking customer service!!!
Terrible company with links to the elliot management group. Rude staff and customer service is non existen. Items going missing or not sent after payment. Avoid!!!
Tell your masters Elliot Group to stay away from Man Utd. They are not wanted.
Barnes and Noble press is the absolute worst.
Their customer service is basically non existent. Their review and shipping timelines are so slow. But worst of all, their printing quality is terrible. There are uneven white borders throughout the book, the "high quality" paper is cheap looking, and the color is so washed out. It's unusable and embarrassing. What a waste of money. Worst of all, they have a book of mine listed for sale and I didn't put it for sale! I'm trying to get them to take it down so no one orders this crappy outdated version.
Go somewhere else if you want to self publish a book.

I used to love B&N but as of late I’m disappointed. They never seem to sell any of the books I’m looking for. If they do it’s an ebook at best which I’m not looking for. This is online and in store. I wish they had a bigger selection.

I experience very bad customer service when returning a workbook that I purchased. I purchased 12 workbooks and items of educational learning materials for my grandchildren. That same night, I looked at the items, and notice that one of the workbooks was used. I took the book back the next day for an exchange or refund. The lady at the checkout counter told me that I could not return the book. I told her that I, nor my grandkids had done this; and that I paid for a new workbook, not a used book. She continues to tell me that she would not give me a refund. Also, she mentioned that they could not sale this used book to anyone else. I told her that I didn’t care what she did with the book, but that I wanted a refund or a new replacement book. Once again, she told me “No”. I then asked to speak with her manager. She told me that her manager would tell me the same thing, “no refund”. I was becoming upset with her. I asked, again to speak with the manager. Another employee told me that I did not have to speak that way; because this was due to me raising my voice, asking to speak with her manager. The manager came and asked how he could help me. I explained that I brought books and a membership card; and that one of the books was used and I wanted a refund or a replacement. The clerk showed him the used book and where it had been written in. The manager told the clerk to give me my money back. I could tell she was upset that she had to give me my money. She asked me for my card to put the purchased item back for the refund. Barnes and Noble need to train their employees in good customer service and proper manner to address customer’s needs.
