Ceiling Fan Warranty Useless. Taking them to court! AVOID this company

I bought a fan from them a bit more than a year ago. Since the get go the fan has been problematic. Recently the fan stopped working. It is still under warranty. I lost the electricians contact name and number and Beacon Lighting refuses to stand by their warranty without this. In the process of taking them to court. Don't support this company. If warranty's aren't respected then stay away. I don't want to buy everything from bunnings but at least their warranty system works and they don't put hurdles and barriers like this dishonest company. I won't ever shop from you again.

Dreadful after sales service - shop elsewhere

I bought three Lucci ceiling fans last month. I spent over $1,000. Over the weekend, the remote controls stopped working, and I cannot turn on the lights or change the fan settings. I submitted a warranty claim. The response was that it would take 7-10 business days to resolve the issue. They expect me to sit in the dark for more than a week because their policy is to refuse to pay the $150 callout fee for an electrician to check the problem.

Big purchases no aftercare support

Purchased an expensive outdoor big Airfusion Resort fan in 2019. It stopped working in 2025. Apparently any fan purchase after 2022 has a 7 year warranty now but prior to that it was 2 years. Contacted beacon customer care support and was told today there is no coverage or help for me. It’s just disappointing to spend $700+ and the fan doesn’t last. After spending loads of money on renovations at beacon I won’t purchase from them again. If after sales actual care is important to you I wouldn’t recommend Beacon.

Talk about a rip off

Talk about a rip off. I bought a number of ceiling lights with a 3 year warranty. What they forgot to mention is that the led lights cannot be replaced. Once they go you have to replace the whole thing and pay for an electrician to do it. Will never shop there again.

Won't ever Beacon again

We paid our electrician to install brand new light. It only worked for 2 hours so we paid him to return next day to find it was the light that was faulty, not the sparky!
I contacted Beacon, submitted their warranty claim form and waited. After a couple of days cooking dinner in the dark, I called Beacon and was informed they'd ordered a part and someone would contact me in 7 days when it arrives in store. They did not contact my sparky or send theirs to inspect so how did they know what part to order??? This was a little over 2 weeks ago and I've heard nothing!

Picked up a couple of ceiling fans and…

Picked up a couple of ceiling fans and a pendant light from Beacon Lighting not long ago. Prices were pretty fair dinkum for the quality, and they had a good range to choose from. The staff were top notch – knew their stuff and gave me a few handy tips without being pushy.

Bad experience on exhaust fan product/installation

I recently bought an Reef 250mm Square Exhaust Fan and LED Light from the Beacon store on the 31st July 2025. . Arranged for the installation on the 4th of August with Beacon. The installer did not fully check that the exhaust fan was working fine and did not make any existing recommendations on the existing setup for the ducting to the roof. The existing setup worked fine for my previous exhaust fan. Anyway I noticed there was still condensation in the bathroom after baths after the installation and the exhaust fan was not drawing the air up. I filled in the warranty form but the store said it was my fault for not having the correct setup for the installation of the fan. I paid for the installation via their company and they have the audacity to say it was my fault. On top of that, they did not even bother to send someone out to check if their product was faulty. Very disappointing customer service.

On the Beacon Lighting website…Beware of Specification Sheets

On the Beacon Lighting website specification sheet it listed the Parsec Exhaust Fan with LED Light as: “Dimmable - Yes”
After our electrician installed the exhaust fan with light with a dimmer the light was wildly flickering. He told us to check if this product is dimmable, his office contacted the Beacon Lighting Noosaville store and Beacon Lighting Head office and was told by both parties that yes this product is dimmable. The next day we received a phone call from Beacon Lighting Noosaville saying: “Sorry the product is NOT dimmable and that if we like they will send an electrician to pull out the dimmers for us, no compensation or gift card or store credit for the cost of our electrician installing dimmers that don’t work, or for the cost of the dimmers themselves that we can’t use. The bottom line is that this product was falsely advertised by Beacon Lighting. Beware of misinformation on Beacon Lighting Specification sheets!

Support Australian Business

Never had a problem with the Beacon Lighting products or service, but with the latest ad campaign, needs serious review for your Australian customers featuring an American pickup truck with the driver on the left hand side, leads viewers to believe profits go off shore. We need to be supporting Australian owned businesses.

Terrible returns policy and customer service.

Poor quality, overpriced, terrible returns policy and customer service!

I bought a "Sentinel 2 Light Spotlight with Sensor in 304 Grade Stainless Steel" for over $200 last August. Given the expense it was meant to be of lasting quality for a waterproof outdoor light. (IP65).
I returned it soon after as it was coming in during the day. The manager persuaded me to try an exchange which I did. I soon found it was coming on intermittently through the night.
When I eventually found the time to return it, well within the year's warranty I was told that I could only have a gift voucher as it was after 30 days.

Apparently that's their policy. This seems to be a way of avoiding giving refunds as lighting is an unusual purchase and many people would not need to use the gift voucher. BTW getting a refund for faulty goods within the warranty period is a legal right and a store's policy does not affect that. I said this to them more than once and they did not really acknowledge that at any point.

I insisted on a refund and had to talk to the manager who at no point acknowledged that it was my right to get a refund, but behaved like by phoning her state manager to ask permission to do so she was doing me a favour! Eventually she got permission. The next issue was that my bank card has been updated since the purchase. Policy is that they have to match the card used for the purchase. Another call to her state manager. Another delay. Answered with no! I insisted, eventually she said that if I could show bank records of the purchase it would be ok. I did this on my phone and finally got a refund. This seemed to be quite easy in fact and was done to my new card with no problem. So the initial idea not to refund to a different card was clearly something she could have used her initiative to bypass in the first place.

The whole process took 30-40 minutes, a lot of patience, politeness in the face of obstinacy and determination.

Again I think the gift card policy is simply an attempt to avoid paying out for faulty goods! Especially as the manufacturer will presumably cover Beacon lighting's costs!

Not happy

I purchased two single hanging crystal lights and between 12 months and 2 years the crystal discolored to yellow. Lodged a claim with Beacon and they rejected it. I originally purchased with Beacon lighting because of their reputation of good quality and if I knew this was going to discolor within 2 years I would not have purchased it.

Disappointing Refund Policy???

Purchased a globe with the clear understanding we could return it if it wasn’t the correct type.
We had the receipt plus a copy of the bank transaction on my mobile phone.
This was not enough to get a refund, apparently the young Manager of the store said no as their system had added a ‘0’ to the end of our eftpos card number.
I sent an email, the response was “I’ll forward this to ….” But we have never heard anything back.
I think it is a bad reflection on a store when they will not honour returns of a simple globe worth $18!
So be aware that if you purchase a product and you need to return it - you might not get a refund!
