STAY AWAY! When we arrived, there were no bikes available. We waited 40 minutes for nothing. The only alternative offered was to come back in the afternoon, but that wasn’t possible given our plans. Despite the promise made, we received no refund. Explore Central Park on foot – you’ll enjoy it much more and won’t be ripped off!
We rented 4 scooters for a ride in Central Park. It took us about 30 minutes to get into the park due to the closures related to the marathon.
Once we got into the park we were able to ride for about 30 minutes until we had trouble with one of the scooters. I hit the brakes to slow down to go over a speed bump and the front fender popped open.
When the fender popped open the scooter became unridable. I called their office for assistance at 12:33pm, they said nobody available to bring us another scooter. So we had to pay for a Lyft to get the defective scooter back to their location — as opposed to walking 2 miles. That cost me $37.
Once I got back to their office I could have just parked the scooters, got my drivers license and left. Their staff was completely inattentive and would have never noticed. However, to ensure that nobody else got that scooter, I brought it to the front to ensure that their manager was aware.
They didn’t reimburse the unused time, they didn’t reimburse the Lyft, AND THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME — claiming that I broke it. Their manager asked for my receipt, took it, and never gave it back.
The young lady at the counter apologized to me, said it wasn’t my fault but manager shouted at her in Spanish saying “be quiet nina” — basically overruling her.
The manager gave me my drivers license but refused to me back my receipt. They have since put another bogus charge for $250 thru on my credit card.
