I adopted Kernel Mustard (formerly known as Popcorn) - a big, handsome, very yellow, neutered male guinea pig - last week from Blue Cross Sheffield. I was impressed from the start with the openness of staff when disclosing possible medical problems with animals, including time of neutering and how long before he could meet his two lady friends - as well as their being firm in insisting they see pictures of the new home I was offering. It is clear that they cared very much that any prospective rescue animal would only go to the best home. The adoption process was straightforward, informative and fair - even down to the tip that Kernel Mustard especially loves cucumber!!
Kernel Mustard is settling very happily into his forever home - he is already loved to bits!!

We have recently rehomed Luna the pug with the Blue Cross in Exeter/Devon.
Rebecca and Jessie were a joy to deal with and made the process of adopting Luna so smooth.
We were given plenty of time to get to know Luna in a relaxed environment. Her insurance, medical records and microchip details were explained to us thoroughly, so we could bring her home feeling confident and prepared.
It's clear the Blue Cross had her very best interests at heart throughout-we are so grateful to have precious Luna in our lives!

From enquiry to pickup, Blue Cross have been excellent. I had an hour long chat from the Burford Blue Cross after submitting my application. They told me all about the cat, and made certain we were right for each other. On pickup, the centre was well maintained, from the office to the cattery itself. The staff were friendly and the whole process was smooth. We couldn't be happier with both Blue Cross and our new kitty.

Ease of initial enquiry for, to receiving comprehensive advice from Naomi. Centre in Hertfordshire had plenty of parking, all staff were very welcoming and friendly. Naomi was excellent with her advice and gave us time to ask questions. The centre was clean and the cat area was clean and the animals looked well cared for. Recommend Blue Cross

Rehomed a puppy from the Burford Blue Cross and what an excellent experience it was from the get go. We have rehomed a number of animals from Blue Cross over the years and they continue to be outstanding.

We were really impressed with the whole set up at Burford Blue Cross. We had a phone assessment first to see if we might be suitable for adopting our dog and then went to the site to meet her a couple of times. The staff were friendly and very helpful and gave us good advice and we now have a happy dog as part of our family. It is wonderful to know that places like this exist and we would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking to adopt a pet in the future.

Burford Blue Cross were great, I rehomed my new family member on the 7th Dec.2024. They were able to see if I was able to handle such a big and young animal, we talked and laughed which enabled a better reflection of my character and personality so to help get a better bond. They showed me how he behaved with other dogs, made sure I was fully aware of the mannerisms of the breed and the work entailed. They were very professional and stuck up with my jabbering on.
Would recommend to anyone.thanks all, merry Christmas and may 2025 be a good one for yourselves and rehoming of the animals.

Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional Treatment at Blue Cross
I’m absolutely appalled by my experience at Blue Cross. While the charity’s mission to help animals is important, the way I was treated by the staff was completely unacceptable.
The staff, mostly volunteers, were rude, dismissive, and made assumptions on me based on my financial situation simply because I’m on benefits. Instead of offering help or showing any empathy, they treated me like I was undeserving of assistance. It’s upsettingt hat in a time of desperation, when you’re relying on a charity for support, you're met with judgment and contempt.
When I tried to explain my situation or ask questions, I was met with condescension and an unwillingness to engage. To make matters worse, despite multiple requests to have inaccurate and biased notes removed from their system, I was told nothing could be done. The information they left on file continues to misrepresent my visit, and I am now left with a record that doesn’t reflect the true nature of my experience. It was clear that their priority was protecting their own egos, rather than focusing on the well-being of my pet.
Though I escalated my concerns, I found that the response was no different—everyone followed the same pattern of dismissal and disregard. I was informed that there is a formal complaints procedure, which takes 10 days to resolve. However, during those 10 days, my pet’s condition worsens, leaving me in a state of frustration and helplessness. This process felt more like dealing with a corporation than a charity that’s supposed to care about the animals and people it serves.
The behavior I encountered was unprofessional and cruel. Volunteers are supposed to help, not belittle and alienate those who need support. It’s appalling that a charity like Blue Cross would treat people who are already struggling with such disdain.
I will not be returning, not that my pet will be missed and I strongly urge others to be cautious when seeking help from this organisation. And I hope I slipped through the net as I dread to think that this is a regular occurance! If you’re in a vulnerable situation, be prepared to massage the ego's this way you will get the help you need, and be aware that any negative information will remain on your record despite your requests for fairness.

We adopted two dogs from the Burford shelter. They are lovely dogs and a wonderful addition to our family. Although the dogs hadn’t been socialised the team understood we were the right fit and the boys are now cuddling up to us, sleeping on our laps and are happy to be lifted up when needed.
The process was easy, we got to meet with the team and dogs prior to adoption and are really happy with the dogs.

What a great team special mention to Caz who looked after us throughout the rehoming process.
Only complaint is that you would like to offer a home to all.

What made my experience great was that the team at Manchester responded very quickly when they were aware that it was an urgent need. Due to illness my 3 pets needed rehoming, the initial assessment was thorough and the detailed assessment looked into the unique needs of each pet. I am so very grateful to them at Manchester Blue Cross for the helpand compassion they've shown.

We had to rehome our much loved cat and chose Blue Cross because she could go straight to her new forever home. Devon Blue were absolutely fantastic! The initial assessment forms were very thorough so they knew her needs and were able to find the perfect home for her. My family were all so sad but they fully supported us in the process by giving lots of information and liaising between us and the new owner so that our cat had the best transfer. They even have a helpline to talk to someone at times when I felt so sad! The best thing was that Blue Cross forwarded us a few updates from the new owner as to how she was settling in. This was amazing and gave us such reassurance that we had done the right things for our cat. The whole Devon Blue Cross team were amazing, kind and non-judgemental and did their absolute best for our cat in the rehoming process.

Newport rehoming Centre were fantastic!
Spoke to Rhiannon who was incredibly welcoming kind and friendly and clearly had the animals best interests at heart.
All communication was clear and punctual. They were so generous and let us take our time to meet Myla so she felt comfortable to come home with us. Would highly recommend!
