Reasonable enquiry about lifestyle and improvements needed. Possibly too much emphasis on the top of the range advantages. Limited the scientific terms (I could have understood more of that).

Great professional service from Peter at Boots Hearing care in the Gyle, Edinburgh. Found an excellent solution to my hearing issues which have made a significant difference in day to day life. Friendly and efficient too.

It wasn't easy to accept that my hearing was no longer what it used to be. Two long sessions with Jack made it so much easier. He is the consummate professional: he's caring and friendly, has a unique ability to put you at your ease, and to explain how the aids function. He guides you into accepting that it causes no dramatic change to your appearance to have very discreet hearing aids, but that they enhance the quality of your life I'm also very impressed with the after care service provided by him when any necessary adjustments can be made to the aids. Altogether I thoroughly recommend him and the service he provides.

Had an appointment on 29 April 2025 to boost my hearing aids. Took time and effort to see practitioner. Aids now less efficient than before. Will tahe them to St Johns Musselburgh to ask for help. Barbara

Having had my first appointment, the Boots Hearing Consultant was attentive, providing comprehensive information and advice in a comfortable environment. Having discussed requirements, I left with hearing aids and so far everything is working well. A follow up session is scheduled to check everything is working.

Emerick was very knowledgable, and his clinical care was excellent.

The whole process, from testing to purchase, was a very pleasant experience. Right from the start, the staff were all really friendly and Jack Lovie, who did my hearing assessment and follow up fitting with new aids, was a great guy and very easy to deal with. Everything was explained in detail which gave me great confidence in the process and the subsequent purchase. I feel that my needs and requirements were listened to and that was what influenced the choice of aids which were recommended. There was no push to the top-of-the-range models. Definitely 5 stars

I recently had my hearing tested at this branch and require hearing aids, which I went on to purchase at the Edinburgh Prince’s Street branch. The service from Jack Lovie was excellent and I really appreciated his explanations regarding my hearing loss and the pros and cons of each hearing aid, so I could make a decision that was right for me. I required many follow up appointments to get the hearing aids fitting correctly in both ears, and saw Jack and Emerick on different occasions. Both of them were an absolute delight to see and I really valued their patience and understanding in the importance of getting my hearing aids spot on. Thanks so much to both of you.

Clear simple explanation of a very thorough hearing test and what help was available

Emerick Valdez-Tan stayed behind after hours to see me as a walk-in. He was patient, helpful, knowledgeable and has a lovely manner. He even cleaned my NHS hearing aids. I cannot recommend him too highly

I bought my Phonak hearing aids over two years ago from my local Boots. I’ve been very unhappy with the service there and my hearing was getting worse. So much so that it was really affecting my everyday life which started to become very upsetting especially over the last six months when I felt I was alienating myself in company.
I decided to go to the Edinburgh Princes Street branch and booked a review appointment online (which I got within a few days - unlike my local Boots)
I met with Emerick Valdez-Tan who listened to my concerns, found extra time to do a hearing test and conducted various other checks. (two of which I’ve never had done before!?!?)
He has transformed my hearing.
Emerick insisted I return four days later and he made a slight adjustment ensuring all was okay.
I was delighted with the levels of care and empathy shown to me by Emerick and am very grateful to him.
