ELEVATOR WORRIES
I have an affordable apartment with great views. The in-house PT staff are the best I've ever had.
Here's the bad...the elevators and electricity keep going out, so if you live on the upper floors and are in a wheelchair or walker, YOU CANNOT get back in your apartment. I'm in a wheelchair on oxygen there are no chair lifts on their stairs. Just this week, I got upset as I needed oxygen and my meds, and told the Manager ANGIE this. Her reply was very nonchalant, she kept flipping through her phone the entire time....like we didn't anticipate this. Like ok, but what's your plan to help people stranded and in need? I need my meds, and my oxygen is going to run out in 45 minutes....you need to carry me up 8 flights of steps so I can get what I need in my apartment and lie down. You can put my wheelchair in your ofc. She wasn't bothered at all. They're working on it...If I had needed an ambulance, I'd be livid. My dear friend, who just had an outpatient procedure, couldn't get to her apartment, and many others. The day before, many people waited in the dining room for 5 hours. 3 people were hurt by trying to use the stairs, and 1 resident had to be carried down 4 flights of stairs by EMTs for a critical life event; she is fine now. For me, they got it back running just in the nick of time for me to get back. Now I am concerned for my safety and for others here, too. I pay $941 a month, which is great for a studio. They just raised it by $41 a month. I don't get section 8. You can get stuck downstairs with no help? That's not in the handbook. Residents have recently slept in the dining room. I'm afraid to leave my apartment for fear of not being able to get back and have/get what I need. My first review was positive and joyful, and I NEVER got a response from management. IDC about their response now. Unless they can guarantee my safety and well-being while I live here. I have notified the Daily Camera, the Boulder County Tenants/Landlord Div. of the DA's Office, the ACLU, People with disabilities, and the 9 News Investigative team! RENTER BEWARE!!! The apartment is always over 75 degrees, gnats, water is cold or scalding hot, in the showers, especially if someone upstairs flushes. FYI Affordable Housing...I have to live here, so I'll make it my personal crusade to make this right for myself and other residents who live here as well.
