Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 20 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently experience devices breaking down prematurely, failing heating elements, and severe issues with short lifespans. People also encounter leaking water containers, malfunctioning internal parts, and find it nearly impossible to obtain necessary replacement spares when repairs are ultimately needed. Some reviewers were happy with the quick delivery of replacement items and praised certain compact smoothie makers for being easy to clean. Others appreciated specific features like low-steam kettles, even though majority feedback remains strongly critical of overall product durability and poor materials. Customers also noted that replacement items occasionally arrived quickly when unexpected problems occurred.

My brevillekettle went on fire and…

My brevillekettle went on fire and luckily my husband was still in the kitchen or the house would have been on fire , sent an email, it took them one month to get back to me , in that time I took it back to the retailer who were extremely helpful and gave me my money back and an investigation got underway, when grevillea did get back to me I told them I took it back to the retailer and all I received back from them was an email saying thanks for your feedback , no apology no nothing , shocking customer service and I will never buy another product from them

Another arrogant organisation that…

Another arrogant organisation that believes that customer service is simply not important. Their response to issues is negative and they attempt to always reject issues with reference to their T's & C's which of cause have not been written to protect the consumer! AVIOD THIS COMPANY your money would better spent with companies like Morphy Richards who have a positive & proactive attitude to customer service. Breville don't even respond to this site which is another 2 fingers up to their 'customers'

Shocking customer service

Shocking customer service. Avoid Breville products. I bought a Breville kettle five months ago via Amazon. It stopped working all of a sudden. After five months!!!! I emailed customer service twice (I have proof) and attempted to contact them via phone (hours waiting to be connected) and they have totally ignored me. Disgusting way to treat customers. Such a waste of £40. Will avoid all Breville products in future.

I bought a Breville VKT159 Jug Kettle…

I bought a Breville VKT159 Jug Kettle from Curys in December 2020 and her we are in March 2021 and it has failed, not just failed but nearly caught fire, definitely a fire risk, I spoke to currys and they said after much messing around they would replace it in 7 days, I then spoke to Breville and they said they would replace it in 10-15 days, no interest in the fact it nearly caught fire no interest in the fact that I don't have a kettle. Disgusting action by both Breville and Currys

I bought a Breville VTT969 Lustra 4…

I bought a Breville VTT969 Lustra 4 Slice Toaster from Argos, the toaster works great and I had no qualms about my Argos rapid delivery but the mains cable on the toaster was far too short (less than 60cm) to reach my mains socket so I have had to put the toaster on top of my microwave oven to plug it in. Rather annoying as the cable only exits from the rear, good product bad lead.

Broke just after warranty period

Research and don't be enticed by 50% RRP offers. We purchased a Breville Coffee Barista coffee machine which retailed at £300 and we thought it was an amazing deal at £149. Oh, how I wish we had read reviews before purchasing. We've had cheaper products last significantly longer (in excess 5 years) yet this broke just a couple of months outside the warranty period and is the only coffee machine we've ever had break.

We used the machine maybe twice a day (if that), sometimes we wouldn't use it for a few days at a time so we're not talking heavy usage. I turned on the machine and heard this sound as if a pressure pump had been released, I assumed it was just warming up so tried to use it and no water came out, I tried again and then realised that all of the water was pouring out of the bottom of the machine.

I contacted Curry's which after nearly an hour of being on hold/talking to be told it was now outside the 12 month warranty, (I purchased 27th Sept 19 and it broke early Jan-21 so 15 months) and we would need to speak to Breville. Curry's provided a number for Breville that would answer and disconnect every time, I found their Contact Us form, completed the details, stated it was out of warranty and wanted to discuss a repair. No response was received after 12 days so chased by phone (found a new number), a case was finally created, I explained it was out of warranty, wanted to discuss repair options and got the usual apology for delayed response. I was then asked to take photos of the machine and receipt which I sent back the same day, a further 4 days pass to be told it's out of warranty and they will offer me 40% off a new machine (note I got this at 50% and it was now back up to full price so I'd be paying more than I originally did to purchase a new one). I pointed out that this would cost me more, and I had lost confidence in the product and wanted them to use the 40% offer (equates to £120) to complete a repair, I wasn't interested about a new one, just wanted mine fixed and working. I was then advised they don't do repairs and "our procedures reach and exceed all current EU & British standards and regulations. 40 % is the best which we can offer."

Overall, I've spent 90 minutes on the phone, taken 3 weeks of emails back and forth to be told there is nothing they can do and take to 40% or leave it. It is for this reason, I wanted to write my review, unless you're prepared to purchase another at their discounted rate, don't bother contacting them if it's outside the warranty, it will be an utter waste of your time. I just feel that a product that retails at £300 should be fit for purpose and 12 months is just not enough for a warranty.

I've had my Crystal glass kettle for…

I've had my Crystal glass kettle for just over a year. I sent an email to explain that the upper plastic part of the kettle was disintegrating or melting and pieces were falling off into the water. After sending THREE emails I finally heard back from 'customer service' - about a week later. I was asked to provide yet more details. I was then told the product was out of warranty and offered 20% off a new kettle. Considering the dangers of melting plastic pieces dropping in the water I was horrified! Surely as this is a known fault something should be done about it, people should be warned or at least compensated.
I'll never buy another Breville or their owner, Newellbrands, product. Awful outfits!

I usually leave negative…

I usually leave negative feedback/reviews of companies that fall short of the expected quality or breach their contractual agreement but on this occasion I have to say 'well done Breville'. I have a 1 cup kettle that has been working fault free for over 10 years, a revelation in todays sub standard products and one worthy of a mention.

Impossible to repair

Breville blender have custom made screws which makes it very difficult to repair when broken. Of course as a defence they will say you need to be fully qualified electrician to change motor brushes.
No, you don't!
No more breville, that's for sure!!!

Breville ‘No out of Warranty’ Repair Service

I own a Breville VCF109 One Touch Coffee machine. It makes great coffee and I am very pleased with it. I am an engineer and have repaired all types of machinery, and I ran my own alarm company for 16 years. I love to repair things and decided to buy a used, leaking similar model on EBay for my wife’s office.
It is my opinion that these machines are not meant to be taken apart, they are designed to be ‘throw away’. It is virtually impossible to dismantle the unit without breaking some of the moulded ‘non-return’ clips on the plastic panels. There are also internal screws holding the sides on which cannot be accessed unless you force the back off.
After getting inside the machine I found that the leak was caused by a hairline crack in a plastic 4 way pipe junction attached to the boiler tank. The part is worth about 50 pence, and is all that is required to get the machine working again.
I have contacted Breville customer service 3 times, and they are not interested in the slightest.
So, if you buy a Breville One Touch Coffee Machine, be warned, there is no after sales service for a ‘non working’ machine after 12 months. There is no repair service without an extended ‘replacement’ warranty or internal parts available for these machines. The machine is scrap if an internal part fails after the warranty expires. My advice is do not buy one unless it comes with a replacement warranty longer than 12 months.
Finally making a ‘non repairable’ coffee machine is very bad news for the consumer. Breville should be made by Trading Standards to make this fact common knowledge in their sales advertisements.
Nice machine, disgusting business practice.

Bought a Lustra kettle and toaster

Bought a Lustra kettle and toaster. We can’t use kettle as everything taste disgusting. An awful metal taste to everything. Even with bottled water. Breville do not provide any email details to complain. You fill an online form but no one replies. Terrible consumer service. Kettle not fit for purpose and now had to go back to using reliable Russel Hobbs one. However have an red kettle and black toaster now!!!

We bought and had delivered a VTT 233…

We bought and had delivered a VTT 233 Black Toaster 2slot, that we were told. This will toast 4 Warburtons bread, well it doesn’t. You can put 1 slice in each slot, you could cut another slice in half, then put half in each slot. Doing it this way you can get 3 slices. We didn’t get what Breville told us before we bought it. There’s not Many Toaster that will make the most popular sliced loaf. WHY ? Very disappointed, they are lucky to get 2star but it’s Christmas

Excellent customer service

Have a one touch coffee machine but the milk tank has a build up which I can't get into to clean properly and it isn't cleaned using the cycle on machine. Managed to order a replacement tank for £15 and Magdalena who dealt with my query was fantastic. All sorted within 10 minutes and Magdalena was lovely and very helpful.

Breville Café Series TT33 4 Slice Toaster - ...'At Breville we always strive for excellence in consumer satisfaction. '...

Firstly, toaster we like, had for number of years [got bored of replacing Dualit Elements].
Small issue; one of the clips that holds crumb tray in place broken.
Was optimistic, Breville have Parts Page on website. Unfortunately no joy, no Toaster parts.
Contacted Customer services and got fairly prompt response. Turns out discontinued and they have no parts and would I like to buy another 'product in their range'.
Fair enough, a commercial decision over an enviromental one I guess.
Went back and asked whether they had a parts breakdown or diagram, so I could try sourcing the part myself.
Woah!..apparently not the done thing...here's the reponse; to the point.
..'We don't disclose technical details or diagrams of our products, therefore we won't be able to support your request.'
I noticed another brand does support such a spare for their toasters, so it seems pretty poor on Breville's part. Here is their support strapline......'At Breville we always strive for excellence in consumer satisfaction. '...
They have followed this up with a generic survey request. I've put pretty much what's here, I'll let you know if I get a real response.
