Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 20 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently experience devices breaking down prematurely, failing heating elements, and severe issues with short lifespans. People also encounter leaking water containers, malfunctioning internal parts, and find it nearly impossible to obtain necessary replacement spares when repairs are ultimately needed. Some reviewers were happy with the quick delivery of replacement items and praised certain compact smoothie makers for being easy to clean. Others appreciated specific features like low-steam kettles, even though majority feedback remains strongly critical of overall product durability and poor materials. Customers also noted that replacement items occasionally arrived quickly when unexpected problems occurred.

I bought a one cup kettle a year ago

I bought a one cup kettle a year ago. The water started to taste strange it smelt awful. I looked up descaling and did it thoroughly. A couple of weeks later it was the same again. I contacted Amazon who contacted Breville who sent me a reference no. They finally got in touch two days ago telling me to follow descale instructions again. I believe there is a health risk to this product and emailed them to that effect. Regardless of the outcome if and when they reply I will not be using it.

Kettle failed four months later

Bought Bold Vanilla Cream Electric Kettle VKT223 via Amazon UK on 3rd March as it had very good review comments. However it failed four months later with water leaking. All previous kettles I bought lasted a few years. Obviously Breville kettle is very poor quality.

I should have checked with Trust Pilot before purchasing the kettle instead of relying on Amazon reviews. It was totally a waste of money.

Faulty Breville Kettle

My Breville kettle in order to turn on needs to be jiggled around on the base. On May 10th contacted Amazon the company I made the purchase with, I was told by Amazon I needed to contact Breville direct which I did, On May 12th after agreeing it was still under guarantee Breville issued me with a reference No. to pass on to Amazon for a replacement. To date and after a number of emails to both Amazon and Breville and no reply's from them.
I'm disappointed from both company's

Dangerous experience with kettle and no customer service.

Bought electric kettle 5 years ago. Stopped working after 18 months. Replaced by John Lewis. Now 3 years old.
Several days ago after boiling
I lifted the kettle. Handle fell off completely! Boiling water everywhere. Fortunately not on me but I could have been very badly scolded. What if it had spilled on a child. So so dangerous. Totally unacceptable product quality. Lodged a complaint a week ago via website but NO RESPONSE RECEIVED. Unbelievable. Do they not care about customer safety? Policy seems to be ignore it and it will go away. I will not buy another Breville product.

Questionable Product Quality and Zero Customer Service

Bought a bean to cup coffee machine in January 2023. 6 months on the bean hopper has broken when adjusting the grind. Not ideal when a moving part breaks when trying to move it.
Contacted Breville Customer Services to enquire about being able to obtain a new hopper (even if I have to pay). A week has past and the only contact I’ve received back is an automated email saying they looked forwarding to helping me shortly (zero hint of irony).

No Help from Breville

I bought my Sage smart oven never used but out of guarantee; used it very happily for six months and then got an error message E.05. So I contacted Breville/Sage customer services hoping they could help to identify the problem. They have no facilities to telephone and speak to a technician, you have to register and then file to get a case number so that’s what I did. After several days I got a somewhat unhelpful email stating that a) they didn’t make this machine; b) they don’t repair small appliances; and c) they don’t have anything to do with second-hand machines. So I decided to write to the chief executive David Gubbin as that’s often the way to get things done. Mr Gubbin did not answer my request for help but someone called Nevena sent an email a couple of days later to the effect that their technical team would contact me. Since then (8th June) nothing. Not a dicky bird. Zilch. I enjoyed using my oven all the time it was working so I did have reserves of goodwill towards Breville e but not any more. I think their customer services department is a complete misnomer; they have no idea of how to be helpful or even keeping open the lines of communication. As many others have written, avoid this company and their products like the plague. I think it’s a crime not to be able to repair this expensive bit of kit and it’s a crying shame I have to take it to the tip.

Were no help - bounced me back and forth with Amazon

VCF126 Barista Max pump stopped working back in February. They just bounced me to Amazon. Amazon bounced me back to Breville. Breville bounced me back to Amazon…and so on. Appliance still sits in my kitchen barely used. Really unhappy with the service. I expect it from Amazon but kind of terrible that device warranty isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.

I bought a Breville blender...

I bought a Breville blender, I used it for about nine months then it started to make noises like a road drill, shortly after it refused to work.

The only thing23 I used it for was apples and a quantity of water blended once a day for thirty seconds.

Toaster that did not last

Toaster that did not last. Bought a 4 slice toaster just less than 2 years ago. One side would not pop up and the mechanism stuck. Keep this clean and just normal home use.
Wrote to customer service and the usual waste of time it outside warranty. Yea I know it is but would you expect a toaster to last longer than that. This is the trouble with this disposable world!!
They offered me 20% off a new one but with the 20%, I only get 6 months warranty.
What is the logic here? 20% off price so get 50% off warranty? What does that say about their own confidence in quality.

Refused to provide simple spare part for current model [Updated]

[Edited - see addendum]
I bought a VCF107 coffee maker in 2021. After about a year, it started to leak hot water from the filter basket and eventually, it was squirting out of the front. When I looked at the bayonet connection, I could see that there was a hole in the gasket. I searched online for a replacement but it seemed that it was probably the only Breville model for which replacement gaskets were not available.

So, I phoned Breville UK to see where I could obtain a replacement gasket and spoke to a person who did not seem to understand what I was asking because they e-mailed a repair/replacement request which I completed and got no reply. I phoned again and spoke to the same person who berated me for not replying to their e-mail correctly (I had simply hit the reply button). They eventually found my e-mail and I was told to wait for a reply. Over three weeks after my initial phone call, I got a reply saying that Breville are unwilling to fix or replace the coffee maker as it was six months out of warranty (it wasn't when the problem first started) but that was not what I had asked for anyway, I just wanted to buy a simple spare part. Instead, they offered to sell me a replacement espresso machine at 20% discount (still more than can be paid at retail) with a reduced 6 month warranty (like I want to throw good money after bad to a company which offers such dismal customer care).

When I responded saying that I just wanted to buy a gasket, I was told that they were not available - yet the coffee maker is in their current range so they must exist somewhere in the supply chain.

If you look at Breville's and Newell Brands' websites, they have boiler plate ethical and environmental declarations decorating them but evidently it is all bluster - they would rather see their products go to landfill than provide a small silicone disc.

They don't seem to have much regard to customer service as there only seems to be one person dealing with it - the same person answers the phone every time and answers all e-mails. I asked to be referred to a manager but my request was ignored.

According to the Consumer Rights Act 2015, appliances should be expected to work for up to five or six years depending whether you live in England and Wales or Scotland but it also states that this might not apply to a 'cheap kettle'. By refusing to provide any support, Breville are obviously equating their products to cheap kettles.

[Addendum]
I am revising this rating to three stars because I have finally been supplied a replacement gasket. But it took weeks to obtain and demanding a response from somebody in management. When I did get a reply from somebody that I presume was in management, it took about a week to receive the replacement. I hope that Breville has looked at the appalling reviews on here and resolved to up their game because there are plenty of companies who provide far superior service who will take their customers.

I first bought the Breville One-Touch…

I first bought the Breville One-Touch Coffeehouse Coffee Machine | Espresso, Cappuccino and Latte Maker | 19 Bar Italian Pump | Automatic Milk Frother in February 2021, and within 3 months had to return it to curry's as the pump that pushes the milk through the frother stop working.

It made a noise like it was trying to pump but never had the power.

The first purchases was then replaced by a new machine, I have now had the new one for just short of 2 years and yet again the pump that pushes the milk through the frother is yet again doing the same thing. I expect a coffee machine to last more than 2 years as these are not cheap purchases. And to have exactly the same issues as the first machine that was replaced is appalling. There must be design fault with the pumps, I am appalled that I am dealing with the same issue that now has made the coffee machine useless.

The coffee machine is not used excessively, it is only used once a day in the morning, so would have expected the machine/pump to last a lot longer. I now have no warranty to cover this fault.

So yet again I will have no option but to buy a new coffee machine

Poor made products

Brought a sandwich toaster. What a complete waste of money. Used once and got to dispose of it already as you can’t clean it properly and any leakages go straight into the electrics.

terrible company

terrible company, customer service non existent.

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

They don't answer emails or tickets, I have been waiting for a response since Jan,

Support always offline, if you request a callback they don't call back.

basically if the product goes wrong, you won't receive any customer service as they don't have any or if they do it takes MINIMUM of three months to even respond to an email, I'm still waiting for my ticket to be responded to from JAN!
