Rip off and petty rules

Went yesterday to see Andrea Bocelli in the rain. We had our umbrellas confiscated, even though others seemed to get through. People were shouting at the over zealous security workers. Surely umbrellas at a classical concert in the rain doesn't represent a health and safety risk.
The whole thing is a miserable rip off. We left after 30 minutes. Second bad experience, there and there won't be a third.

Brought tickets to see Andrea Boccelli…

Brought tickets to see Andrea Boccelli 05/07. Weather was predicted torrential rain so we took our umbrella... Which got confiscated at the door for being 'too large'.
My husband, myself and out 8 year old go drenched through and eventually we went and demanded our umbrella back... Along with providing photo evidence of other people in the concert with large umbrellas..
( We were told that those with large umbrellas must have come into the park from a different entrance!!!!!!!! How the hell does that matter?)

We were over charged extortionately.. for everything (campbestival was the same)

We didn't even wait to see Andrea Boccelli... Totally fed up, soaked through to the bone, fed up with all the rules to these open air places, fed up with extortionate prices and being ripped off.

Warning: just don't bother wasting your money in Britain.. in total we spent approx £300 on his event, (another £200 would get you 4 nights in Lake Garda) (just recently done)..
Britain is just a huge rip off with every individual involved lining their pockets!

Not prepared for weather

Festival acts themselves were lovely however with the English weather rule on umbrellas is astonishing. Seated area wasn’t permitted umbrellas due to ‘view obstruction’ while there were literally giant screens ahead. As well merchandise stand sold out of ponchos within the first few hours. Absolutely unprepared for English weather. Should know better.

CRIMINAL

Offered upgrade and subsequently had to queue for 2 hours to pick them up!!! Missed various acts including the one I came for. No reason why it couldn't be updated on the app. 4000 people in the same boat. Complained on BST site which auto-routed me to AXS who said 'all sales are final', which is an illegal thing to say when refunds are due. If you buy a faulty appliance they can't deny a refund simply by saying all sales are final. It was a horrible experience, ruined the day, I didn't get what I paid for and the door has been slammed in my face for the compensation I'm due. SCAM!

I think festivals are going up and up…

I think festivals are going up and up in price and it’s ridiculous. I paid £36 for four drinks (2 pints and 2 single vod coke). The hotdogs were nice but oh my god my middle finger was bigger than this thing…£11.50 for the smallest hot dog. I know it’s London, and I know it’s a gig but cmon…insanely expensive. The women’s toilets were that rammed that some women were using the male toilets which is not cool. Badly organised as every festival. But overall…LOWER YOUR PRICES

Ok 2nd year for us at the BST Hyde Park…

Ok 2nd year for us at the BST Hyde Park concerts. 2023 take that and sugarbabes brilliant.
This year Kings of Leon. Vaccines. Paolo Nutini all absolutely fab. I mean fab.
Ok so 75k people need some sort of policing. However there are to many people in security who DONT KNOW THE RULES.
A blanket for the floor. Yes it’s ok. Chairs No. big bags No. little ruck sacks Yes. But you’re not aloud booze or food. Well maybe a few snacks for the long day. We were there almost 11 hours. Drink is expensive. Food is on a par. Loads of choices.
The whole day is really well organised. At the end of the day many many people absolutely bladdered. I don’t know how they can afford it. 4 people it like £30 a round. £8 for a small can of wine.
The end comes and Kings of Leon did a massive 2 hours 15 minutes finishing at 1045.
A lot of exits are blocked off and you simply have to walk. We picked up our Uber quite quickly.

What's with the no picnic blanket rule

Kings of Leon and other acts were great. But nowhere does it say in event details that picnic blankets are NOT allowed. My tiny blanket was confiscated on entry and told to sit on grass, whilst everyone around me, arriving after me, were allowed to bring there's in. With people brazenly walking around with them hanging off their belts. Note at busy times it takes about 40 min to do a loo run.

So I have been year on year to BST and I…

So I have been year on yea to BST and I have no idea why but they have decided to change the toilet facilities.

Women have had feminine hygiene facilities removed from the toilet but have access to a huge wheelie bin in the middle of the room. Completely inappropriate and the toilets were so unhygienic.

Woman are also now sharing the queues with men who want to do a number 2 which is also a very unpleasant thought and makes the queuing situation even worse.

If it’s not broke don’t try to fix it!! Frustrating day sadly.

Badly badly organised this year.

Also there were so many children this year and I’m sorry but young children in crowd of drunk and dancing people is a major health and safety concern. BST have a duty of care and to allow babies toddlers and children to attend what is an adults festival in VIP area is negligent. Children were crying and the parents seemed oblivious to the fact it’s not really for kids.

I have written to BST and am looking for a refund. I also brought tickets and understood that drinks were included. They weren’t and I had to buy an upgrade on arrival. Bit cheeky and misleading with booking info.

The toilets situation was absolutely shocking!

Too restrictive?

We were looking forward to our first Hyde Park experience (3 nights in fact) until we looked at the rules. One small bag and no readmission? How can you take enough for everything a British summer might throw at you in a small bag. No this, no that. Why didn’t they just add no singing, no dancing, don’t enjoy youselves etc. considering the policy at Glastonbury, Hampton Court, V etc this is pathetic. I hope it turns out to be surprisingly good.

Overcrowding, drunks and chaos

This was the worst experience I have had after many years of attending events. Bruce Springsteen was superb but the overcrowding was ridiculous and highly dangerous. The organisers clearly have no regard for the customer experience or security. It’s all about the money. No more Hyde Park events for me.

Disgusting experience

Disgusting experience! Went for Gwen Stefani and Pink on the 25th June 2023! Extremely poor organisation! Overpriced and very dissatisfying! I payed Golden Circle tickets and the experience was absolutely atrocious! The stage was 50 feet high and you could barely see the performers, super expensive drinks and muddy- dusty! I know it’s a festival but for this amount of money it’s ridiculous! If it was £70-£100 OK, but £500 per person- that’s disgusting! Absolutely NO CHANCE TO MAKE THIS MISTAKE AGAIN!!! Greedy incompetence…

Year after year the same issues - sound / screens not in sync

Year after year the same issues. But no one gives a toss. Till this date, I am still not sure who actually stands behind BST. Are these the Royal Parks? If yes, unbelievable! My biggest issue, for years, is that you tolerate (again I cannot stress this often enough) year after year the sound issues - screens and sound out of sync. People pay premium prices but get a poor return. Nothing you would ever seen when going to the O2 or Wembley etc. Also, your app is not well designed and getting access to Ticketmaster tickets usually a nightmare!

Attending blackpink’s show was the…

Attending blackpink’s show was the worst experience of my life, there were so many kids shoving themselves between adults, and parents pushing people so their kids can have a better view. The staff did absolutely nothing when we told them that we are getting pushed by people, I ended up with a knee injury, that hasn’t healed after a month. Another girl next to me had a hip injury, and what did the staff do about us? absolutely nothing we were removed from crowd and and the medical team said they can do nothing, we had to leave to seek medical attention before blackpink even came up to the stage. Paid over £200 and all I got was harassment and knee injury that could have been easily be avoided by better management and staff actually listening to people.

Rip off and unorganised

Billy Joel was brilliant but the experience was marred... I paid a lot of money for the V.I.P. experience because it stated there was seating available for me. I needed a seat because of my disability. If it had stated 'limited seating', I would have at least known what to expect or I could have made a proper decision not to go because when I arrived at 18:00pm, there were no seats left in the whole Summer Garden.
I approached a Crew member for help and he said he couldn't provide a seat (although he could see me struggling). All he could do is provide the disabled toilet if needed for me and suggested to keep checking for when someone leaves their seat and take theirs. A woman saw me struggling and found a different Crew member, who provided a foldable chair for me and set it up on a grass area. It was very poor viewing and accessibility for the price.
I'd paid to see the whole event, which ended at 22:15pm. At around 22:00pm, I was asked to move away from the grass because the crew wanted to clear up early and started to put up metal barriers around where I was seated. As there wasn't anywhere else to move to (and also because I was made to feel uncomfortable), I left the event 15 minutes early.
I've attended many concerts and have never had these problems before.

We attended Bruce Springsteen on Saturday. A endurance test! Too many people and no control over access. Impossible to get to toilets and other amenities. Wondering how any medical emergency would have been dealt with. Not sure we’ll attend again at Hyde Park.

Never again in a million years

Went to see Lana del Ray and have to say, all the performers were amazing. However …. our entire experience was ruined by the selfishness of other people. I took my 15yo as she loves Lana but I was actually afraid for her safety. We were in the gold circle, spent extra for for VIP Hydeaway tickets… complete waste as we couldn’t move. People were shoving and pushing in front of us but there was nowhere for them to go so they ended up pushing us backwards against those behind us. So we ended up in a really bad spot and so far back from where we started. We didn’t eat or drink much as, like another review, we adhered to the rules and didn’t take food or drink in with us but we couldn’t get to the food area because of the crushing crowd. People vaping constantly so just breathing their fumes all day. The signage was terrible and we had no idea where we were going when first arrived at Hyde Park, we ended up walking around the entire venue as none of the ushers/ stewards knew were we needed to go because the signs that were there were for gate numbers … we had garden entrance c on our ticket. When leaving, I asked which direction Paddington was in, only to be asked what Paddington was!!! They had no idea.
Seeing Lana was amazing but the whole experience was ruined by poor management & health and safety and the complete selfishness of other people. Never ever again!!
