Stephanie & Craig have both been incredibly helpful with advice in the early stages of our project, taking the time to really explain how things work which for a newbie to self-build is so greatly appreciated. I have every confidence in BuildStore to help me find the right financing solution, and I would 100% recommend speaking to them about your project! (Especially if like me, you've no idea where to start!)

The broker looking after us Alan was fantastic, always kept us up to date, always got back to us in a timely manner, he made the whole experience so much better.

We dealt with Chris Ewan, he was a absolute pleasure to work with, he went above and beyond in every way possible for us, he was always happy to help with any issues we came across and was always in regular contact, he always updated us daily about the progression of the mortgage

If I could give zero stars I would.

The absolute worst experience, do not use this company, they have ended up costing us tens of thousands of pounds because of their snail pace work rate.

Our mortgage was approved for our new build in November 2021 we did not receive the first instalment of money until august 2022. By this stage we had spent all of our savings, had to sell stocks at bad prices, move in with my parents, in order to get the build started. Now we are waiting 3 weeks for an advance on the second release of money so that we can pay the deposit for the windows (windows is technically included in the second release) but if we don’t order them until we get the money the house will be further delayed for another 3 months. This company are meant to specialise in self build. Surely when the total amount as already been agreed and stress tested it is a simple request to have an advance (not extra lending) just an advance in order to book the windows so that they arrive when they are needed. The window company were offering 8% discount for orders placed before end of October which we have now missed because we don’t have the funds to place the deposit. Another cost of £7,000 to us because of buildloan useless service.

I have received fantastic service from Buildstore, in particular Samantha Marshall who has gone above and beyond to help with my enquires. This is the second time using Buildstore and I would happily use again.

Claire has been exceptional. I cannot recommend her enough. Claire managed to complete in under two weeks more than other brokers could in four months. I was a little concerned I would not get a personal experience by going with a national company. It quickly became clear that that was not going to be the case, I had Claire's direct email address straight from the outset and had numerous calls during the period to a direct phone which would always be answered. Fantastic experience, I would use again, will use again, and will recommend to anyone that asks.

Everytime I have called or emailed I have been welcomed with a friendly voice and response. All team members have helped us and always made us feel supported with our concerns during this process.

Stuart Newsome, Mortgage Advisor at Buildstore has been absolutely fantastic. He is extremely knowledgeable, approachable, efficient and goes out of his way to help. He is a credit to the company.

We have been through buildstore twice, the first experience was really poor a lack of information and then suddenly silence. I restarted this process with Stuart and 'wow', the level of communication, support, advice was just exemplary! We have just received our mortgage offer and I really look forward to starting the build process but can not recommend Stuart and his team highly enough

We are still in the middle of our self build and we did expect a self build mortgage for self employed individuals to be more difficult but prior to contacting Buildstore we tried a smaller “specialist” self build mortgage broker and we were appalled by the experience.
The Buildstore team are a large team but they do always get back to you , they walk you through the multiple steps, stages and requirements and they do work really hard to help you get the mortgage you need. Especially helpful was the clarity from Stuart..which was much appreciated.
Stage release has also been quite smooth so far.
Self build is a long process but it has been very positive so far and I would highly recommend Buildstore.
I think so long as one approaches the process understanding that it is a lengthier and more demanding process in comparison to a traditional mortgage..then it is much easier to appreciate the benefits of using a broker like Buildstore

I have been very impressed with the professional mortgage advisory service provided by Claire at Buildstore Mortgage Services Ltd. She dealt with my application in a professional and friendly manner and is extremely knowledgeable about the mortgages available to self builders.The information Claire provided was always easy to understand, she kept in regular touch during the process and she and her colleagues have processed my application in record time! This service is highly recommended!

We've just successfully completed our first self-build, with Buildstore playing a key part in the financing elements of the project. Our experience with Buildstore throughout the process has been superb. They have been really helpful and thoroughly practical in their whole approach from start to finish and I have no hesitation in highly recommending them

I originally went to BuildStore for a self-build mortgage - they were very knowledgable, honest and gave me the best deal to progress my build. Because of the excellent service I approached them for a re-mortgage - the advisor Claire was excellent in getting me the best deal - they went over-and-above in fast-tracking my application through to get me the best rate.
Definitely recommend BuildStore.

Absolutely terrible to deal with. Do not use. I’ve had a remortgage held up for 4 months with buildloan unable to do simple tasks such as calculate salaries. I have absolutely n confidence in their abilities. After 4 months of being forced to use them by our preferred lender I was left with little choice other than to abandon my application. I do not understand why they are still in business.

Jack at Buildloan was excellent at explaining the entire process. He took the time to run through each likely event, and clearly listened and answered all our queries - this certainly made what could be a complicated process, a very easy one.
