Utter .rubbish-try using their plotsearch, logging in or 'joining'. Complete waste of time

The whole process of building our house was very stressful at times. Throughout Buildstore could not be faulted in providing assistance and advice. We would not hesitate to recommend them to prospective self builders

The communication through the portal is woeful and too distant. There needs to be a dedicated account manager for application who knows what the process is and how it is proceeding.
We were delayed for at least a month because you didnt update our solicitors details in a timely manner and even after being told more that twice you still sent the info to the wrong solicitor. When we pushed we were told it was due to an error in the system with updating solicitors information - complete rubbish!
We were due to get the first release of funds when we completed foundation stage, we have actually got to roof on before getting this. It is only due to being able to use business capital that i could proceed otherwise your process which took 4 - 5 months would have cost me circa £7k in extra rent.
All in all your process from a customer perspective is appalling

Knotweed problems and a requirement to secure an offer quickly!
After initial consultation I had an appointment with a very helpful and knowledgeable self build specialist broker Stuart.
The most suitable lender was selected that would be happy to deal with knotweed and managed with some financial planning I managed to secure the correct amount of funding at a reasonable interest rate.
I also received help and advice to provide the correct building costings as most of the work was to be carried out myself. Excellent communication from start to finish with emails often answered outside of normal working hours. I feel the whole team at Buildstore worked really well together and went the extra mile to secure my mortgage offer in record time.
I would not hesitate to use them again for any new projects.

Build store as a whole are a great company, who provide a positive experience. Their mortgage advisor delivers fantastic customer service and it is clear the mortgage advisor cares about their clients.

However, there were a few times during the process where we’d have liked buildstore to be little more clear in their requirements.

Communication is excellent via the online customer portal, email or telephone.

Guidance around stage thresholds, BuildLoan mortgage draw downs, inspections and surveys, warranty, insurance arrangements have all been extremely helpful.

I honestly can't believe some of the positive reviews left for this company. Perhaps i've just been unlucky but i think they are the worst company i've ever dealt with!

Unfortunately i had to deal with them to acquire a self build mortgage and have had nothing but stress and hassle all the way. Ultimately i've had to contact the lender myself on numerous occasions as Buildstore simply aren't up to the job.

Complete lack of any form of pro-activity, unable to explain vital points or requests for information. Extremely slow to respond (apart from asking for fees) & worst of all the simply don't seem to care.

My advise would be to source your mortgage elsewhere although unfortunately a number of lenders will only deal through this company. Just make sure you go in with low expectations and are prepared for poor service

Great service from Ronnie at the Livingston office of Buildstore, very knowledgeable, very helpful, easily contactable. Sorted us out with exactly the cover we needed, very pleased. 10/10

I made a panic contact following a rejection of lending from a high street mortgage provider, and spend an hour with Shaun at BuildStore who was very knowledgeable about the self-build financing process. Thankfully we were able to secure a different high street lender, but I would feel confident using BuildStore given the professional and personable service I received.

The team at buildstore have been great with us. Our build has gone on for what seems like ages, so going have timescales but the team always happy to help! Even now still awaiting the build control completion certificate they have kept in touch and understand any delays we have.

Service and communication has been superb. Really helpful. Particularly Garry who couldn’t help enough. Many thanks indeed
