I am the co-founder and CEO of a small, bootstrapped SaaS fashion-technology company. We have banked with HSBC since the company was incorporated and have maintained an impeccable credit record.

Following a major restructuring at the beginning of 2026, the business is now growing at a high double-digit rate, and we needed a cash-flow buffer to support this growth.

For almost two months, I contacted several HSBC lending departments and was eventually advised to apply online. Two weeks later, I received a voicemail about my application, but it referred to the wrong name and directed me to a general telephone number. Despite calling three times over ten days, I was unable to speak to a lending specialist.

I submitted a complaint and eventually gave up. I was about to arrange finance with a third-party lender and close our HSBC business account.

Then Binita Panchal contacted me. She listened, immediately understood our needs and recommended an overdraft—a more flexible and significantly less expensive solution. She took personal ownership of the situation and arranged everything in less than three days.

This was genuinely five-star service. My rating is entirely due to Binita’s professionalism, initiative, efficiency and understanding of the needs of a small, growing business.

I recently dealt with Reece Harding at the HSBC Edinburgh Branch. The customer service I received was outstanding. Reece spent time learning more about my business, introducing new products and assisting with changes to my account. The follow up and service has been excellent.

I have been with HSBC for past 3 years it’s very backward bank when you need to speak with someone you have to wait 48 hours and you have no access to any agent live chat is not live basically you send a message and someone will reply whenever they are available I wouldn’t recommend this bank best go to another bank high street bank like NatWest where you can speak with real people straightaway

The process was very simple and Shanese’s competence and friendly manner made the experience five star. I only rated it 4 star because there needs to be some extra level of security to counter the scam artists. I suggest a reverse of the code generator where the bank has to prove it is the bank calling. So the code generator on people’s phones or computers could ask the bank caller to provide a code which verifies their identity. I am sure this can be done easily. I will leave that with the team and any remuneration for the idea would be gratefully accepted 😀
