They'll wear you out requesting more and more documentation and will always find a reason to deny you. Navigating this without a family doctor in Quebec is seemingly impossible and they must know that... See more

Life in Canada
Just sh**t I pay for benefits through work and can not even get access online to see my coverage or download my benefits card because of "technical issues" called in every day for two weeks different answers every time bullsh**t just like every institutions in Canada
Absolutely awful
Absolutely awful. Off work injured and reliant on Canada Life. Would have been better off throwing myself on the mercy of state E.I.
Canada Life doesn't deserve even one…
Canada Life doesn't deserve even one star. I have engaged the services of many insurance companies over the years, and Canada Life is by far the worst. Their customer service is appalling, and their management team is dismissive and unhelpful. Over 3 years, we dealt with countless issues, some of which were never resolved. I finally got sick of them and was alarmed by the terrible online reviews when looking for a replacement. Their premiums are extortionate. As of April 1, I moved our company over to Blue Cross. Despite cancelling our services a month in advance, I was irate to receive another bill for over $3,700, citing "miscellaneous charges." Needless to say, I will be disputing that to the end of days and will go out of my way to tell everyone I know who offers their employees extended health to stay away or move to another provider.
Ridiculous service level
AVOID! Canada Life is completely disconnected from reality. They removed my access to my claim history for the last 10 years. Now I’ve requested a report for tax purposes and they request 4 weeks to send a simple account extract. Their agents can’t understand how absurd it is that they’re delaying my entire tax submission because of this ridiculous business practice. All they do is justify that “they informed me of the 4 weeks timeline”. The problem is not my lack of information, is that you’re withholding critical information from me!
Just horrible
Just horrible, the agents are so lost, no ones says the same thing. They refunded me, which I thought was not enough for mental health services and then instead of reviewing my claim they are asking for their money back.
Who in their right mind puts their ad…
Who in their right mind puts their ad in ever single god damn ad slot on youtube?! I swear to god I saw their stupid commercial at least 50 times when I was sick on Saturday. STOP! Nobody wants to be bombarded by a company that frequently!
Terrible company and incompetent…
Terrible company and incompetent customer service. The people working customer service have no knowledge. The company seems to make medical decisions for the client (which are usually immoral and wrong-headed). My 85 year old mother has a permanent ostomy, atrial fibrillation and is in heart failure. She gets monthly blister packs as she is on so much medication and they won't cover more than 5 during the year. Her ostomy supplies, half don't get covered. We're still trying to get her first claim through since March. I'm looking at what medications are covered by OAS because this is absolutely ridiculous! For the amount of premiums their clients pay, they should be ashamed as the government should be for switching carriers!!!
Absolute worst insurance ever
Absolute worst insurance ever. Sends me a letter saying Im covered for 12 months. I books an appointment with my doctor 2 months before that would expire and gets my bloodwork done 2 weeks before my doc appt. Goes to get my meds a few days later and they are no longer covered. They cut me off 2 months early. I need the to live people. Worst company ever.
Zero customer service
Bought several policies through an advisor and he ghosted us after we paid the premium. Called the customer support center to ask if the money came through and the lady basically wanted to put words in my mouth, anticipating my questions and pointing me to unwanted and unneeded directions before me even saying a word about why I called, with a rude tone of voice. Why a customer who doesn't even call about a claim deserves to be treated that way and why a company allows call center employees to act like that? What kind of company is this?
WORST EVER.
These clowns have to be the worst benefits provider ever. Their website provide answers that a 2 year old could provide. Submitting an email request? You are more likely to be able to fill out your CPP application and get CPP in less time. I can't believe employers select this organization to provide benefits. The cost must be dirt cheap.
Since they took over I had nothing but…
Since they took over I had nothing but problems with the way they evaluate the eligible amount of my claims.
Had a $214 claim for simple pills and i got $4 back!!!!
Not happy that they will administer the dental portfolio next fall.
Worst customer service
Worst customer service, dental claim from November 2023 until now not processed. more information was needed from the dental office which was submitted from February and yet the claim is not processed until now. when calling, the excuse was: sorry it was overlooked. will see now how fast they will process it?!
Total incompetence!
Just recieved a letter from Canada Life stamped “protected B personal and confidential”. The cover letter was to me but the form was for a woman in Ontario. It included personal info including where this person banks as well as her account number etc. Can you say grossly negligent! I can!!!!
Do not use this business ever! If u have to deal with them thru your employer…GOOD LUCK! You will need it with Canada Life
I would give them zero but it's not an…
I would give them zero but it's not an option.
To anyone considering investing with Canada Life here is our story.
CANADA LIFE IS BRUTAL! We have been trying to have a substantial amount of money transferred since November. We have called and emailed repeatedly. Our matter was "escalated to a specialist " 2 emails later they stopped responding. We contacted Canada Life again to have it escalated even further. We're currently on day 8 of waiting for a supervisor to call back within 2 days. This is absolutely terrible customer service. Next step is contacting the ombudsman's office.
Nightmare company
Nightmare company. None of my claims are being paid, and I'm 5-6 weeks since claim submission. Simple orthodontic claims. My last employer had Manulife - 100000% better than this. I'm wasting so much time following-up with Canada Life, and it's a massive headache.
followup to horrible experience with Canada Life
As a followup to my previous horrible experience with canada life.
I have appealed my Ozempic medication 3 times with them. All 3 times they declined the appeal stating the same reason as before.
1. My health is too good to need the medication
2. My blood sugar levels don't indicate that i should be on this medication.
How negligent and dangerous Canada Life is.
No matter how many notes I put in my appeal saying that this is not a new medication I am on, they are treating it as a new medication that i am starting. I swear they must be run by computers because no human can be this negligent and uncooperative or understanding. I want to know if their employees have a medical background or do they think they are internet doctors.
Its disgusting how they treat people.
non-existent customer service
I have had no choice in dealing with this company as y employer chose to go with them instead of Sun Life. I pay $64 a month for coverage ..supposedly for 80% prescription cost coverage. So 3 months is $192. My prescription costs for 3 months is $239 .69 in addition to the $192 total $431.69. I cannot take any generic medication as I am extremely allergic to at least one of the fillers used in generic drugs. My Dr filled out all the forms required so I can get the Brand name medication. That was July last year! So far I have been denied recompense. At the moment they are now telling me they have no forms from my Dr on file.. but they were there in November! I have to get them filled in again. Back to the cost... Out of that $431 .69 Canada Life paid $27.90!!!!! SO tell me where is the advantage of having this plan? I sure can't see it! What I don't understand is how an insurance company refuses to accept a qualified Medical Doctor's statement that says MUST have brand name Medication. So every three months my coverage costs me $400 and they give me $27! With Sun Life it was enough for the DR to write brand name only on the prescription to get coverage.. not any more.... This needs to be fixed!!!!
Terrible wait times
Terrible wait times
Zero help from CSR
I pay a lot and they turn down a small claim for my son who hardly uses the service
Hate to think what a bigger claim would be
Don't bother - waste of time and poor service always!
This company is the worst. They have a very simple menu when you call customers service (not niche enough), then you experience long wait times (always, this is not just certain times of day or every now and again, its EVERY TIME I CALL) on the phone to being transferred multiple times to different departments, to being disconnected in the process, the list goes on. And when you're in one department asking even general questions its like they don't know how policies work across the whole company so they can never answer a question. I feel like customers are so frustrated with the operators that the operators in turn are short and rude with the next customers and it all perpetuates a terrible cycle.
In addition, we have never successfully reached the health spending visa card center using the number on the back of the card. My partner and I both end up waiting 45mins or more before the number just disconnects us. Which is even more infuriating when you call the regular customer service line and they just try to transfer you to the visa line and the call gets disconnected. Are you sensing a theme yet?
We have had them through an employer for 3 years now. We can't wait to switch one day.
The rudest agents I have encountered
The rudest agents I have encountered, period. The website is never functional, so you are forced to call and sit there watching what's left of your (possibly?) insured life fade away. What a joke.
