A SEAMLESS EXPERIENCE FROM START TO FINISH.
A seamless process from start to finish. I booked a Suzuki Swift from the Holetown depot of Drive-A-Matic in Barbados. Handover was with Aiesha who was pleasant and friendly. I also had email contact with Sueann who was also pleasant. They were very hot on taking "before" and "after" photos of the car and I had no problems. I handed it back to a helpful young man at Bridgetown Airport. I was very happy with the car and the service.
They debit the deposit
At the beginning it was fine. But the debit the deposit. It is the sole car rental doing this. We had to wait a week to get a refund although we returned the car on time with gas and no damages. I wish I knew this before renting from them.
Just awful
Just awful, they have insurance loopholes they charge for everything after you return the car. They are a toxic horrible company, every review I’ve read it’s the same thing, charged us 300 for a flat tire and a rim. We got insurance too. On top of that, the rim was bent in many places there is evidence of amateur work done on it multiple times prior.

The "management review" ended up with no help at all.

They cancelled reservation at last minute.
Made reservation after carefully reviewing their terms and conditions. They said drivers over 65 must present a note from a physician indicating the driver can operate a motor vehicle safely. I made the reservation based on that, paid for an office visit to get the physician's note. Three days before arrival they send a confirmation of my reservation that said no drivers over 69. Their terms still say what they originally said. You can't trust them. You can't trust what their terms and conditions say. Don't let them leave you hanging like they did with me.

"I recently rented a car from Drivermatic in Antigua, and the entire experience was outstanding. Despite our flight being delayed, the staff stayed late to accommodate us. The pick-up process was incredibly straightforward and hassle-free. A special shout-out to the team member who, even though she was heading home, went out of her way to guide us from the airport location at night to the turning for our hotel, making our arrival stress-free. The car was brand new and in excellent condition. The drop-off was equally smooth, with the same staff member driving us back to the airport. Overall, a trouble-free and highly recommended

We rented a car from them as the reviews and price were good. There were a lot of staff working intensely to get the documents ready and the people in their cars. Everyone was professional and considering how many of us rented from them landed at the same time, we got our keys in a decent amount of time. Extra points for not trying to push expensive insurance like many others do.
The car was a Suzuki Swift in great condition and with 3000 km, so practically new. It worked flawlessly and we had no issues with it whatsoever.
The drop-off process was super simple - just park and drop off the keys and parking ticket in the office. No issues whatsoever after dropping off.
Overall one of the best car rental experiences we've had, and we'll be sure to use this company again when we come back to Barbados.
Scammed and not responding...
I have been completely scammed by this company and the employees at Drive a Matic. I rented a car in March at Grantley Adams airport. I was told to enter my card TWICE into their card reader with $755 being taken the first time for the car and $255 the second time for pre-execess insurance, to be fully refunded. Now the employee has said the first payment taken will be reflected back in up to 3 working days. It has not been. It’s been 3 weeks and I am STILL waiting for this payment. I am being fobbed off they are now ignoring my emails and calls.
I was told this happens regularly by this company and customers have been having difficulty getting their money back. DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!!!

The car was fine but we had a terrible experience after we landed in Barbados. I booked a car seat, I emailed Drive-a-Matic directly in advance with the child's details and was sent a photo of a car seat that they have available which looked very good. On arrival we were told that they never had that car seat and they don't have one that will fit our child. They finally found something suitable but they clearly lied in the email and caused unnecessary stress and delay. Also, their inspection reports are very difficult to understand as they are videos and photos without any descriptions.

Great experience in general, with payment, free drop off to our hotel in Marigot Bay and collection. Nice people, great communication whether by email or WhatsApp or in person at the drop off. Collection was super easy also they instructed us to leave the keys with reception. All in all a 10/10 experience!! Best thing we did with our stay was renting a car and seeing the Island in our own time! Only words of warning, roads are pretty bumpy, and bring cash for petrol just in case the card machine is out of order!!
Very easy experience hiring a car
I had no issues with this company. Pickup was relatively quick a little manual writing things out but same with all. Good that they took photos of cars imperfections and sent to me day of pick up. No issues with swift drop off

Exceptional service from everyone at Drive-a-matic
Exceptional service from everyone at Drive-a-matic. First of all, the reservation process went really smoothly. Upon arrival at the office for collection, I was upgraded to a larger, more comfortable car to accommodate my back and leg problems, which I had to see a doctor for that week. Since I had never driven an automatic car before, the staff courteously showed me how to operate it. Upon returning home, I requested an invoice, and they sent it over swiftly. The vehicle I was given was stellar as well, and their office at the airport is conveniently located. The best of all is that I had a fabulous time in Barbados, would love to return!
Great experience
I rented a small car from drive a matic I. UVF and it was fantastic. No waiting around etc the whole transaction took about 20 minutes. More importantly I was able to get a helicopter ride from SLU and returned the car a day earlier at the SLU location. The agent was very friendly and I expected to be charged a cleaning fee and drop off fee etc . I was charged nothing and in fact I was refunded for a day. I did not expect any of this. Great customer service.

They said they couldn't pick the car up and to leave it at the hotel. This was simply to delay returning my deposit. I got back to England and they said the money should be in my account over the next few days. this was all a lie.
After another 10 emails I realised everything they said was a lie. Luckily American Express retrieved the money but I would never use this firm.

TWO FLAT TIRES!! Not a coincidence. It's a SCAM
SCAM, RIP OFF COMPANY !! SAVE YOURSELF THE NIGHTMARE!! TWO FLAT TIRES IN ONE NIGHT. Nobody came to help us. We knew no one, and no one at Drive-A-Matic answered any of the emergency phone or the afterhours road assistance numbers they gave us. We had to keep trying to flag down cars. Luckily, a nice lady stopped and called her brother to come help us. He took off the flat tire, then put on the tiny spare emergency tire that was in the trunk. Unfortunately, the area we were stranded in was mosquitoes infested!! They tore us up the minute we stepped out of the car. We paid the brother, thanked him profusely and were on our way, SO WE THOUGHT... THE EMERGENCY TIRE WAS FLAT. Now we are back stuck on the side of the road again, in the pitch darkness with our USA cell phones. WTH?? We flagged down another stranger who got us a taxi. He told us to follow him down the street to a safe restaurant parking lot where we locked and left the car. The next morning the company apologized and said they would send someone right over with a different car for us. They didn't get there until 12:30ish. Missed our entire Saturday day tour. Our Friday night and Saturday shot! When we turned in the car, they charged us an additional $75 for the flat tire and said that "whoever you got to fix the tire dented the bottom of the car, so we have to charge you for that too." After going back-and-forth with them, the only thing that saved us from that extra BOGUS CHARGE was that they did not answer their phones during our emergency. Also, we paid for EP (extra protection insurance) on the car. Well, they said that it didn't cover tires!! What a RIP OFF! Don't use these people. Save yourself the money, time and trouble. If you scroll down on here, you will see that they ripped off someone else with this tire scam. Wonder how many others they ripped off that didn't report or write a review on them. It's not worth it.
Horrible Experience with Drive-A-Matic…
We had a horrible experience renting from the Drive-A-Matic located in St. Lucia. During the course of the rental, they issued us a car with a flat tire, which was damaged due to no fault of our own, that Drive-A-Matic refused to fix until the next day. The next day came and went and we never heard from Drive-A-Matic. We had to pay someone $60 in US funds that Drive-A-Matic was supposed to reimburse us for but has not, to have the tire repaired because we were stranded on the side of the road. We called them immediately when we got the flat tire, but they did not provide the roadside assistance as promised nor did they follow up with us to fix the time as they had promised. In addition, the car rode very rough the entire time we had it, to the point that we almost missed our plane because the vehicle wasn’t running as it should. When we returned the vehicle, we told the location manager about it and asked for a refund. The manager was completely rude, refused to issue the refund and also refused to provide the name of her manager when we asked for it.
To make matters worse, Drive-A-Matic fraudulently charged us three times and we are still trying to get a refund. Drive-A-Matic has refused to address the issue at all so we were forced to open a dispute with our credit card company. We are waiting for a reimbursement for our rental as well as the fraudulent charges. We are also waiting for someone from the corporate office to contact us.
Good customer service and excellent car
We hired a car from Drive-a-matic for St Lucia in January 2022 and we had a great experience. Pick up was super easy at the airport stand and personnel were ultra helpful to provide information not only about the car but also where to eat around the area (we got off hungry, airline food was rubbish). We also got a free upgrade to a 4x4 SUV so that was another pleasant surprise and something we never regretted as the roads in St Lucia are a bit rough at some points with many potholes. The car was in very good condition, clean and well maintained and appeared to have no problem in the 12 days we spent with it on the island. Totally recommended.
Great experience with Drive-A-Matic
Great experience with Drive-A-Matic, and Sophia and Patrick were both amazing. The only downside was that the car had some sill damage before I got it (some of the potholes in Barbados are crazy - drive slow!). This was duly logged by the agent, but there was hidden damage to the wheel rim, eventually leaving me with a slow puncture. However, this company has a great focus on customer service and they weren't about to leave me waiting around. I decided to have a go changing the tyre myself, but Patrick arrived with a spare tyre before I had the first lugnut off and had me back on the road in maybe 5 minutes? Even though it was a pain to have to deal with a flat tyre, when I saw where the damage was on the inside of the rim, there's no way the company could have known beforehand without putting the car on a lift. Aside from that, this little car was a star, easy to drive, with the best air conditioning ever, and it was really easy on petrol. Next time I'm on one of the islands, I'll definitely use them again.
