CASH COW; Trade Member ZERO support and derogatory attitude

As a trade member, I expected help with ensuring we do all things regarding our industry correctly and that we are able to register our customers installations for windows promptly.
Unfortunately CERTASS feel it is your fault when they cancel your membership because your name as changed at companies house and they couldn't be bothered to contact me and let me know.

The list is too long but, I have a list of emails highlighting to them that I have a different email address to the one they were trying to use. They didn't seem to care less even though I constantly told them I wasn't getting emails. They also refused to change my company name when I told them I was changing it.

They also advertise that they will do annual checks on installers to ensure correct installation of windows. I also feel that monitoring would take place to ensure all other aspects of our paperwork and admin work are correct. NON ,,, Absolutely nothing is done. They don't care and do not check anything.

They appear to view their customers as simple cash cows and reading some reviews from home owners it sounds like this is true.

Their maturity as a company could not be expressed better than when I told them I was giving them notice that I would be leaving them. They claimed that they hadn't received the email (a common theme) and instead decided to cancel my membership straight away apparently. This meant that some customers will be left without Certifications for their installations.
CERTASS rationale for cancelling my membership, was not that at no point could they be bothered to update me email address. Was not that they didn't care that they had made my account inactive and I couldn't register job, NO, that was my fault. It wasn't down to speaking to me in a derogatory way and never offering any help, it was because I told the operator what I felt with a single word that I whole heartedly apologised for. I'll be, clear, I'm not making any excuse for my use of language, but that was the last word to a company that is at best incompetent.

Disappointingly poor customer service

We had some lift-and-slide doors fitted a few years ago and didn't know at the time that we should've received a Certass certificate certifying their suitability etc. Having since learnt about this certificate I got in touch with Certass and whilst they confirmed the job had been registered with them I'd need to pay £24 for a copy of the certificate itself. Apparently they'd posted one out following the job and the fact I never received it wasn't really their concern; they still wanted their £24 and weren't at all interested in budging on this. The phrase 'money for old rope' springs to mind! I expect they spent more money generating and sending me an invoice (twice) than it would've cost to resend the certificate.

The engagement with customer service felt a little 'frosty' to say the least; I guess I am lucky that I only needed them for a simple certificate and not for them to help mediate installation-related issues which I see some have stuggled with.

Certass charge extra for those that struggle with tech

I had new windows fitted by a Certass installer. The installation was arranged by my builder. Certass sent an email to the builder to download the Building Regulations Compliance Certificate. The builder, who is good with with buildings, but rubbish with technology, opened the email and didn't know what to do with it.

Several months later, I've asked "where's my certificate?" and Certass are telling me I need to pay £24 to get a "replacement" certificate that I have never had and which they have confirmed was never downloaded.

I think this is appalling. If Certass now only email out a link to download the certificate, which can only be done within a narrow window of time, I can see many older and disabled people who struggle with technology being lumbered with additional costs by this rip off company. They ought to change their greedy policies and actually provide a proper service.

Poor experience regarding a new windows…

Poor experience regarding a new windows and doors firm who are CERTASS registered. I emailed CERTASS asking for their help. No reply or anything. I added a review on the CERTASS website about the window company and they’ve not published it despite it being deliberately emotion free and purely factual bullet points. All in all CERTASS to date have been a waste of time and should send any prospective customer running.

Agree with other complaints

Agree with other complaints. These people are suppose to guarantee quality for 10 years. Their a joke. E-mailed them a number of times and asked for a thorough investigation. Even asked when I sent them letters, all they wanted to do was ring up the company and tell them to sort it out. That's it nothing. Even got told, person handling my complaint, was only in one day a week, between 10 and 4, to look at emails. Sounds like an excuse to me. Is there anything, as consumer's we can do to make them accountable and do their job properly??

I used a certass registered firm for my conservatory. they have damaged my property, left me with a conservatory which isn't fit for purpose. Just ignoring all my requests to come back and complete work. The conservatory was supposed to take 3 days it is now over 6 months later and still unfinished. Been advised to go through ADR with them , using an independent body of their choice, which will be certass but after reading these reviews don't want to use Certass! Will never use a tradesperson or firm with certass logo again!

Hopeless

I made the mistake of using a CERTASS registered installer last August. I wad told there are essentially the same as FENSA and that they acted like insurance to guarantee the work and rectify any work if the installer goes bust etc. In short they are toothless as an organisation and are blatant apologists for the tradesman they represent. It took my installer 5 months to register their work (required for building regs) despite repeatedly contacting the installer and CERTASS. One of the windows then developed a fault, letting in water and a breeze in February. Got no response from the builder so once again I contacted CERTASS... Failed to meet their own deadlines repeatedly, didn't follow their own procedures. Might have finally convinced the builder to take a look at it, it's now July. I will not be using CERTASS registered installers again.

Certass USELESS pointless service

All of the above reviews are true I have had the same experience and will be taking it further. They are a company paid to cover the bad builder or window company and do zero to protect quality of work or materials for the customer.
Do not go near any company with ‘Certass’ to their name.
They need investigating themselves.
Small claims court here we come!
Advice please!
We need to stick together and support each other. Fight against BAD SERVICE!

CERTASS member with no formal complaints Procedure

CERTASS ...what a complete waste of time. Bias unhelpful and disrespectful.

After two years of complaint about the Flush Fit Windows. I took the Halifax based window company to court and got all my money back plus my legal fees.

CERTASS provide no assistance, in fact, they helped to facilitated the window companies bad behaviour.

The joint independent surveyor’s report said the windows were poorly manufactured and poorly fitted. Despite all that, they are still a CERTASS member.

I wish i read these reviews before choosing the CERTASS window installer/member.

CERTASS if you don’t have a copy of the report, Fiona and your Technical Team know who i am.
I’ll gladly send you a copy.

in fact i’ll email a copy today.

Pointless

I have no idea what the point of this company is. We had new windows fitted by a Certass registered installer, all of which leaked. Tried all the normal channels before going to Certass. The chap didn’t respond to them, so they said there was nothing they could do. Despite repeatedly asking whether they would be taking any action against him, they refused to give me a straight answer. Clearly they just want his registration fee and have no interest in actually protecting the public.
An absolute disgrace.

Just Avoid Any Certass Builders

Just Avoid Any Certass Builders. My window installer vanished after finishing the windows and never registered my work with Certass. I can't get hold of them, Certass can't do anything except try contact them. You would think they could just issue me with a cert if the company is on their books. I don't see the point of this company at all.

No interest to help consumer

After using a window installer, Certass took 3 months to basically promise help but did nothing. Photos were going to be “reviewed by the technical team” but over 2 months and they were still busy. The window company had two attempts to resolve issues and did further damage. The windows that were too small, badly fitted and had air and water ingress were going to be fixed by “erecting scaffolding” according to the contractor. After 2 months failing to provide any plan of work, Certass advised I take legal action. Once I did this, Certass said that they had to close the case.
The tradesman was clearly not competent but had paid Certass money to have his badge on his van so that is ok?
If you are a cowboy builder, it seems if you pay Certass you can behave however you like

Awful customer service

Awful customer service, don't even know where to start.
- Work initially completed in Jan-17
- After over 1 year of chasing to get repairs done to original work I finally get job fully completed in Feb-18
- After looking through paper work in Aug-18 I realised I hadn't received the relevant paperwork from Certass and the warranty company.
- Called Certass to obtain certificate to be told it was sent in Jan-17 and because I hadn't queried during 6 weeks period it would cost me £18 for a copy. Explained what had happened only to be re-told £18. Justification for £18 was that a 3rd party would be charging them for the print and postage.
- I then called the insurance/warranty company who issued copy of missing policy via email in mins with no charge.
- Called Vertass back up to see if they could email copy of certificate to be told sure........£18. Queried why it was still costing me £18 to be told 3rd party would charge them to issue the email. What a joke!

What is the point of this company, they allow people to self certify and when something like this is brought to their attention rather than ask for details of the issue so they can investigate the contractor all they're interested in is their £18 fee. Apparently a not-for-profit company but something tells me the company getting paid the £18 may be the same people who own Certass and they're simply siphoning money to a another entity.

I agree totally with the other 4 1 star reviews funny how they are rated 2 star when everyone has only given them 1 star , using a certass rated tradesman means absolutely nothing, they are attracting cowboys and conmen to buy their logo ! In fact certass are facilitating conmen to rip off the general public
