Wonderful service and amazing food, lovely atmosphere.
Myself and my partner made a booking at Chez Vouz a week in advance to celebrate our anniversary we were offered two slots – 7pm and 8.30pm, we have 2 under 5 year olds (one of which is unwell) so we opted for 8.30pm so we could put them to bed first as a young family member was babysitting for us. I received a message confirming the date and time as discussed and was very much looking forward to our first dining experience at Chez Vouz from the good things we had heard.
To say I was unimpressed by our experience is a massive understatement!! On the night of our booking, I received a text message from chez vouz at 7:20pm confirming my booking that night at 7pm so I called them to see what was going on as I had already received confirmation of our 8.30pm booking 3 day prior only to be confronted by ‘the manager’ on the phone who was very condescending, blunt and adamant that WE had made the mistake. We were then told to come down for 8:45 and they would squeeze us in, so we did and were made to feel very unwelcome the minute we walked through the door.
We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt only to be told at 8:45 that we wouldn’t have a table until 9.30pm or we could sit on a tiny table round the side of the bar area away from the restaurant and where the staff went in and out to get drinks.. no thanks. I could then hear the staff talking about us round the corner, so I then produced our booking confirmation message to the manager, he glanced at it and remained adamant that the ‘computer said no’.
At no point were any of the staff apologetic in any way shape or form! If they had of been, this whole situation could have been avoided. I have worked in the service industry myself in the past and would never dream of behaving like their new manager did. They made us feel like second class people and not welcome in their restaurant so I would NOT recommend this place to anyone I know. Awful experience and left a very bad taste in the mouth.. cant say it was the food though as we didn't get that far!! Visited on 16/02/19
