Visited Cineworld , Brighton Marina
Visited Cineworld , Brighton Marina , to watch "Oddessey" .Found air conditioning not working , no ice cream ,and gents hand driers not working , did we get reduced price tickets ,did we hell also whilst the film was good the volume level was , in my opinion , at times way too loud , health and safety ? and I am hard of hearing , nice seats though.ps I think companies, hotels , supermarkets , cinemas , etc , that have A/C should check what type of a/ c they have and upgrade the system , compressers , to handle the extra load put on them during hot periods of high temperatures
Terrible experience
Terrible experience, had Clubcard vouchers which showed on the booking but were not taken off my final bill. Customer service non-existent, you cannot even call them now you have to do everything by email. When they do finally respond they don’t answer the questions you have asked just give a general response about you cannot cancel bookings, something I never asked for, completely useless
Really poor
Extremely disappointed with customer service regarding a Spider-Man screening. We visited Cineworld Stevenage 2 weeks prior to ask about reserving a poster, and staff member Toby explicitly guaranteed they would be available. Based on this, we drove a 35-mile round trip on the day, only to be turned away because we didn't book 4DX—while watching other customers handed posters. We were told more would come in, so I drove another 35-mile round trip today, only for the manager Reese (who was lovely and empathetic, to be fair) to say none were left. Customer service online (Jade) has completely brushed off the fact that their staff gave us incorrect information, resulting in wasted travel and a heartbroken 14-year-old son. Poor accountability from Cineworld
Wasn't let in the cinema paid for…
Wasn't let in the cinema paid for tickets no refund , it was first and last time i visited this cinema
Far from the best cinema going experience and truly chaotic customer service
I've been an annual member for several years now and have very mixed feelings about the whole experience.
A friend had a Cineworld card which meant I started going to them to see films there too. After a while I looked at my tickets and the Cineworld Unlimited membership looked slightly better value. This will only be the case if you are seeing many films. I've been a member now for a few years.
The cinema going experience is mixed. One of my nearest modern multiplexes is very unpredictable. The place is worn out and tatty but the viewing experience can be fine. I'd estimate there are technical faults on about 1 in 20 screenings due to persistent cinema faults. These are mostly minor or serious audio issues with some channels being too low or too high or white noise being present. We've had one strange focus issue too with one corner being out of focus and a few projects with broken pixels. Getting these remedied is hard work. I tend to mention them on the day to the staff and then report them again online and then again if I go back to the same screen and it's still broken. I'd guess the typical time to fix them is about 2-3 months with repeated reports. There 's also some small variations in temperature in the auditoria. This is not due to the number of people. If you report this the staff tell you they are all set to the same temperature but these are clearly staff who have never sat in them! I would have thought there staff see enough of the films there to report these faults themselves...
The Greenwich one inside the O2 is in better condition but the audience tends to be more poorly behaved, particularly in the evening. I associate that place with people fidgeting with their bright smartphones, munching food, chatting and a small stream of people arriving several minutes after the film has started - latter might be a new trend. I've had one odd conversation there probably with the day manager when a staff member visited the auditorium during the film and their walkie-talkie blurted out something very loudly. I told the manager I'd prefer to watch the film and not have it interrupted by noise from their staff. I was told this was because the staff have to have their radios on at all times. I asked if they could turn them off or down whilst a film was running. No. I asked if they could use earpieces, a feature very common on this type of radio. I was almost ridiculed for that suggestion. There was clearly no interest in providing a good experience for customers who inconveniently want to enjoy watching a film.
Cineworld Leicester Square has some terrible small screens but the super screen (half of the old Empire screen 1) is decent albeit strangely proportioned in its cut-in-half state. I've had to move to a seat about 20 seats away to get away from a babbling English family there who were never going to stop their inane chatter.
The customer support is bizarre, chaotic and very frustrating. I suspect it's a reflection on the parlous state of the company. You can guarantee that whenever something or someone tells you to contact them via one means for an issue it will not work and will suggest another means which perhaps might work. They still send emails with the hotline number but if you call that it just drops the call after a second - no announcement that they no longer provide service over the phone. You can fill in forms and then if you're lucky get a response which will tell you to reply to a no-reply email address. Once you do manage to contact someone they'll probably ask you for confirmation adding yet more delay to the process. It's just a huge mess (the worst I can think of) and you can't avoid this for things like cancelling memberships because they provide such limited control over you membership online.
They recently started doing auto-renewal on annual memberships where they morph into a monthly membership. I didn't want this but wasn't aware of any way to turn this off. I was puzzled why they were offering group 4 upgrades for free at the time. They email you 14 days before this renewal, however, there's a 10 day notice requirement for cancellation which is a blatant "subscription trap" in the modern era and revealed the likely reason for the free upgrades to the highest group.
FYI, for annual membership there can be discounts available via perks sites. For monthly there can be effective discounts from supermarket loyalty schemes.
For the biggest films of the year I tend to pay and go to Picturehouse Central, BFI Southbank or BFI Imax to get away from the Cineworld faults, mediocrity and badly-behaved clientele.
Booked 2 tickets for Rushden showing of…
Booked 2 tickets for Rushden showing of Spiderman never got any codes or email tickets went to the cinema for viewing and staff wouldn't let us in despite me showing them the codes I'd bought and used and them surely having some record that seats were booked, a week later now and had no response to complaint and am down £20 for a movie we weren't allowed in to see, theft I think is what you call it, disreputable company masking as a business, interestingly on Rushdens page the business love to respond to good reviews but never respond to any negative ones. Figures.

Accidentally booked for the wrong day, tried to amend it to the right day but the website wouldn’t give me the option, then I messaged cineworld direct for them to help for them to tell me that they’re not refunding me as the film had already played… even though I made numerous to change this before they basically timed me out for their terms and conditions to be in effect
I booked a ticket for me and my partner…
I booked a ticket for me and my partner and selected date Cineworld site was playing up took me 3 times to pay , and so I thought great all sorted now I wake up saying your film starts soon huh saying I booked for now , so ok goes to ask to get date changed nope can't do that and also because I woke up when film was starting I can't cancel so now IV just wasted £30
Awful online booking system
Cineworld Aberdeen - the online booking process is painful. I tried to book 3 tickets but the website returned an error message, my partner tried to book the tickets with the same result. This has been the case for years and has yet to be fixed, yet Cineworld is the first to complain that fewer and fewer people are going to the cinemas.
⭐ 1-star review – Cineworld Sheffield
Really disappointing experience at Cineworld Sheffield when we went to see the new Spider-Man film on 2 August. We arrived around an hour before the film was due to start, but it took us approximately 20–30 minutes just to find a parking space. We then went to get drinks, expecting to have plenty of time, but due to extremely poor queue management and what appeared to be insufficient staffing, we were left waiting for around 30 minutes. The Cherry ICEE wasn’t working, and after paying over £30 for five ICEEs, what we received was essentially blue liquid rather than properly frozen ICEEs. By the time we finally got our drinks, our film had already started.
What made the experience even more frustrating was Cineworld’s response to our complaint. We were told that the issue should have been raised with the cinema team at the time. However, our film had already started because of the delays, so our choice was either to miss even more of the film by waiting around to make a complaint or go into the screening. We obviously chose to watch the film we had paid for.
We gave Cineworld the opportunity to reconsider the complaint, but they refused to offer a refund, compensation or even a goodwill gesture, despite acknowledging the concerns we had raised. In my opinion, this is extremely poor customer service. Things can go wrong, but it is how a company deals with those problems that matters. Unfortunately, Cineworld Sheffield failed on both the original experience and the subsequent customer service. I certainly wouldn’t describe this as the cinema experience you would expect after spending a significant amount of money on tickets and refreshments.
I visited Cineworld Crawley on Monday…
I visited Cineworld Crawley on Monday 10th August for the 19:00 showing of Spiderman in 4DX (Screen 1, Row F seats 9–11), and it was genuinely one of the worst cinema experiences I’ve ever had.
The cinema was disgusting. There’s no polite way to phrase it. We were told we had to wait because the room “needed to be cleaned”, but when we walked in it was obvious that no proper cleaning had taken place at all. There was food stuffed down the seat I had to sit in, stains all over the upholstery, and a sticky residue on the seat — no idea if it was sweets, spilled drink, sweat, or something else. The floor was filthy, with rubbish everywhere. It was unhygienic and honestly embarrassing for a cinema charging premium prices for 4DX.
To make matters worse, the 4DX seats weren’t even switched on for the first 10–15 minutes of the film. We sat through a full action sequence with absolutely no motion or effects. Then, out of nowhere, the seats suddenly jolted to life — clearly only just being powered on — which confirmed that the system had been left off. This isn’t the first time this has happened at this location, and it’s unacceptable when customers are paying extra for the 4DX experience.
My child had been excited for this film for weeks, and the whole visit was a massive disappointment. Dirty seats, sticky surfaces, rubbish everywhere, and a broken 4DX system. For the price Cineworld charges, this level of service is completely unacceptable.
I have photos of the mess and the state of the seats, and I will be forwarding them to Cineworld directly. I absolutely expect compensation for this visit.
Cannot contact customer service at all
Cannot contact customer service at all. Every time I message them it's an AI bot that replies with very unhelpful information telling me to press a button that isn't there. Very disappointed
Basildon multiplex service is dreadful
Basildon multiplex is. wonderful cinema complex let down by what can only be described as a hatred of customers , viewers Or muggles or whatever Cineworld calls its clientele. Out of five of the last offerings 3 of them were moved to a smaller screen despite allowing booking on a large screen this included the smash hit the odyssey. when the screens are moved your carefully chosen seats are changed to a choice you would never make and you only find out when you get to the cinema. I complained to staff and wrote to Cineworld no one ever responds and the manager on site says she will bear my comments in mind. A truly awful company that really only are about the money .
Shocking customer service. Will go bust at this rate.
Shocking. My card expired and Cineworld asked me to update payment method on App or website. Neither allowed me to input new card details. Called but they've closed their call centre. Completed customer service form and was told I would be called. But all I've had is emails telling me to update on line or membership will be suspended. Joke organisation. I want to pay them and they are making it impossible for me to hand them my money.
Rude disgusting little people
Rude disgusting little people. I asked for a hero Mix thats the name of the brand of Drink, the counter staff didnt know what it was even called and after asking for it several times I was getting frustrated and she refused to serve me. A second person came and when he served me he filled the drink to the top with blue and toped it with red and REFUSED to fix the order to mix the drink properly. I became very angry and despite trying to talk to the manager my night was ruined. Staff training should have sorted this out but the staff are bad tempered, Ill informed and poorly trained. I will attempt to get a refund but I am never going to any of Cineworld cinemas again after this treatment. There's no need to ruin someone's evening because because of a power trip and you can't even get an order right. you over reached your power in a setting where the customer is always right, one delivering a service you clearly are not even capable of doing. this felt like it was because of Gen Z attitude, ruined my evening, my experience of the cinema and my opinion of Cineworld. I was angry, but conflict resolution this bad and refusing to fix an order and not being competent enough to even know the menu you're severs is pitiful.
Absolutely rubbish!
Absolutely rubbish!! Bought a voucher from their website, paid first class delivery and it arrived 5 days later. The date and time of the show is nearly sold out. It arrived, I put the voucher code in online and it says voucher code error, voucher not sold. I can't even contact support because they don't reply. I can't even get a refund on my voucher if the date is sold out/ it has gone past the date. What a scam!!!!!
Keith James, Harry and Megan
Keith James, Harry and Megan are absolutely fantastic!!!!!!! Thankyou sooo muchhh BEST CINEMAS EVERRRRRR!!!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So helpful fun and chatty love it!!
Dreadful service
Dreadful service. Have sent them 6 emails they dont bother to respond. I have spent over an hour trying to book tickets for Crawley which I find very difficult. How do we book for disabled, do we book just one ticket as have carer CEAcard there is no information available. No response to my email. Asked them to ring me, they didnt bother. Why doesnt the row and seat number some up when you hover over a seat, like most all other places? Why do they allocate us seats which you then cant delete from the page, unless of course they have a secret code! There website is NOT user friendly as we have told them for years. Its shocking they have done nothing to improve it. They shouldnt exist, without a decent customer website and service. I certainly wont ever use them again
Appalling and overpriced dishonest
Appalling and overpriced. Customer services non existent. Tried to cancel took over a month to reply so I cancelled dd to be told I had to give 10 days notice to cancel and they said they couldn't cancel membership until I paid! Absolutely disgusting
Rude cinema chain
Our screening was disrupted by a fellow viewer and the lights came on whilst the screen was still playing the movie! We missed 5-10 minutes of the movie and it was a big deal because we'd paid a fortune to watch it on opening night. After they finally paused it we received no communication or anything. They randomly played the movie after a break but played it with all the lights on so we couldn't even see anything. No apology. No communication. Just a nasty email with a couple of vouchers for 2d cinema tickets, bearing in mind we spent well over £100 on this one movie night. An apology would have been nice.
