Trying to dispute a charge and the dispute customer service is horrible. They only try to mislead you and get rid of you. They don't even deserve 1 star.

The worse part is that the girl completed hang up on me by resetting me back to main line without even telling me after a long silence from her.

First you have my permission to use….

If they are doing this to my husband then they are doing this to others. My husband called Citibank Costco Visa ahead of time to let them know we are having a new roof installed and will be using the Citibank Costco Visa card to make the installments and immediately paying off the balance so funds will be available for the next installment. The person he spoke with said no problem and said my husband’s Costco Credit Card would be notated. We made a payment of $7,917.24 that cleared our Wescom Credit Union account on 9/30/24. And no problem, funds were immediately available. Then on 10/1/24 we made another payment of $10,250, which cleared our credit union account on 10/2/24. It is 10/4/24 today and still Citibank has failed to adjust his credit card for the available balance to be available to pay the next roof installment. Even though his balance is showing a credit of $250+, zero is available. My husband tried talking with Citibank to fix their issue and was hung up on and had to call back with no resolution from Citibank. I’ve personally worked over 35 years in the banking industry with several institutions, not Citibank, and have never heard of such poor customer service and never heard of funds not being made available for days when the payment was an electronic transfer from a reputable credit union to a credit card. We originally selected the Citibank Costco Visa card so we could take advantage of the cash back it offers. This could be another reason why Citibank has not made the credit available so to not pay the cash back we would be earning. Because of Citibank’s unfair and discriminatory credit card business practice, my husband used his Caesars Rewards Visa credit card to make the next roofing installment with no problem. Based on this horrible experience I would not trust Citibank with any Credit Card needs. Definitely use another credit card company.

Fraud protection services horrible

I had a subject perpetrate fraud on my Citibank card account. I closed my account where the fraud had been committed. And I talked to a representative of the fraud department or security department and they took all of the charges off my account. Several weeks later Citibank security department put the charges back on my account saying that I knew the subject who perpetrated the fraud. This is not true! When they put the money back on my account I thought maybe there was some other type of fraud that happened and I was confused. They put the money back on my account before they even let me know what it was for! Their customer service was horrible, this whole experience was an absolute nightmare. All they wanted to do was get the money paid for and they accomplished that because I don't want to deal with their BS! I have better things to do! I will never use a Citi card again in my life! I'm very very displeased and satisfied with what happened. They say they have 100% fraud protection but that is absolutely not true! They don't even care about their customer.

I wish I had seen some of these reviews…

I wish I had seen some of these reviews before applying for a balance transfer credit card with Citi. I have regretted it from the moment the whole process started. The system did not record my mailing address correctly even though it gave the option to provide one when signing up. Then it took a few days to get that corrected. My card supposedly shipped 10 days ago and was out for delivery 2 days ago. Guess what. Still don't have it. Tried calling to customer service and got the same automated message I get more than actually reaching someone, which is "We are going through maintenance right now, please call back in 1 - 2 hours". Seeing some of the other posts, I'm now worried that instead of putting myself into a better position, I'm now in a worse one. Stay away from this bank.

They need to go back to live customer service. Their automated service is terrible. A simple question becomes an adventure to nowhere. Citibank needs to take customer complaints more seriously. You wouldn't have that many customer complaints if issues with your service was taken care of. Retool your automated system. It's filled with many glitches.

New user never received card

Signed up for a new card, was approved instantly without allowing me to check the shipping address. They sent the new card to an address I haven’t lived at for years. Called customer service, which is terrible and takes forever to get through to an actual human, because they wouldn’t let me update my address on the website. Updated the address and card still has not arrived almost three weeks later. I really needed this card for a trip and the customer service team clearly have no idea what’s going on. The whole process has taken over a month now and still no card. Bullsh* t

Citi allows payments on their cards in…

Citi allows payments on their cards in excess of your entire account balance. There system clearly shouldn't allow this to happen. This caused me to incur late fees on other accounts. They also don't have a way to stop multiple payment attempts after it has been initiated. Just a heads up to other consumers.

Can only score 1 star

Can only score 1 star - would be NEGATIVE if you could - Citibank has been the worst bank I have ever dealt with, they lack any customer service, they lack any compassion. They are totally impossible to deal with on all levels, several times it has taken us to go to AFCA to complain about them as they simply do not care, do not respond and are so arrogant and ignorant to their customers. If you are considering this bank, I would highly suggest you stay clear, do not go anywhere near this bank, read all reviews. see how many people complain about the Finacial abuse. They seem a bank amongst their own rules. We have been with Citi for 1 year and it has been the greatest mistake possible and working on getting everything from them ASAP. We have asked for help to clarify as they constantly make changes and adjust figures to suit their KPI's and the response we get on phone and email. read your statements as it's not our job to explain why the details are changing so often.

If I could give them negative stars it…

If I could give them negative stars it would be a huge amount! I have a credit card with them and pay monthly and decided to also open a checking account with them. BIGGEST MISTAKE IVE EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!! I went to sign into my account after depositing two paychecks, it asked for a pin and I was quite confused as I didn’t remember EVER being prompted for one. I figgered I must’ve had one so I tried a few. It didn’t work. NOW …I have been blocked from ALL my accounts even my credit card!!! I simply have no idea what to do! They have my paychecks. I have to pay my credit card AND I got a letter in the mail from Citi that was so offensive they made it sound like I AM a criminal and if I ever try to get access it will be denied because I fraudulently tried getting into my account!!!!!🤬I am so angry and frustrated with them!!! HELLLPPP!!! What do I do now??????? Where are my checks? NEVER EVER have I experienced anything so ridiculous and apparently NO ONE can “help me”. Tears of frustration……..sigh

If I could give 0 stars

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This company is a piece of sh!t.

I was using a fintech bank to make payments. At some point, the bank changed my account details and when I tried to initiate the payment, it was flagged as failed.

I immediately went back to the payment and corrected it, resulting in a totally on-time payment (20 days early in fact), as always.

They closed my account anyway and refused to re-open, despite me never having paid anything late, ever.

So for the last 7-8 months I've been using my online account as normal, until my laptop died and I can no longer recover access. So I called them again to try to regain access to my online account so that I could continue paying.

"For security" they cannot give me access to my closed account. Given that the account is closed, there's literally nothing anyone can do with it but pay the debt. Now I have to call them every month, fight with their unbelievably useless AI to get an agent on the line and ask them to manually pull my payment. Because I no longer know my account number, I cannot initiate the payment from the other bank.

They also will not give me the account number "for security".

Absolute garbage credit cards

Absolute garbage credit cards. I can never use my card as it's always "flagged for security purposes". I moved so I change my address - flagged for security and card locked. I wanted to use my card inside ApplePay - flagged for security and card locked. I traveled for work - flagged for security and card locked.

I am cancelling the card immediately! Complete trash!

It seems like Banks jockey to be the worst in every aspect of service. I pray for a day when all big banks collapse and the gubment refuses to bail them out.

The Citi credit site for Home Depot dropped my bank account that has been linked for a decade at least, forcing me to put all my info in again...

This time, however, it is using a 3rd party called PLAID, probably from Citi's partners in the Chinese Communist Party! Plaid of course gets to see my Bank Info, Profile, Balances... Everything!

Of course I immediately changed my password, and hopefully that worked, but Cheers to the worthless Maggots in the Citi BOD for making it OH SO EASY for not only my CC to be hacked, but my BANK ACCOUNT also!

The best part is it's IMPOSSIBLE to chat with someone, can't get past their idiotic screener.

Here's to a nice juicy CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!... Can't WAIT for a data breach.

Unbelievably horrible customer service

Citi makes it extremely time-consuming and painful to accomplish even the simplest job. I needed to add a beneficiary to my savings accounts. This task, which took only minutes at other banks (usually just a few clicks and a bit of typing on an online form), took me a month to accomplish at Citi. Their website has no mention of beneficiaries, no online forms for naming beneficiaries, and no email or message facility to ask about this. The chat bot -- which is by far the most useless AI application I've ever seen -- tells me it doesn't know what "beneficiary" means and, if I have no other queries, then have a nice day. So I called the customer support number and, after about ten minutes going back and forth through the phone tree, somehow (still not sure how) managed to connect to a human. They said they would mail me the appropriate form. Waited two weeks but never received it. Wash and repeat. Now the form is here; it requires me to have it notarized and then snail mail it back to Citi. Arrrrrgh!
