Worst customer service imaginable. Automated and useless.

Trying to make an electronic transfer on Citibank leads to an endless maze of verification calls, followed by cancellation of transfer requests if you don't respond to them within minutes. The chatbot is the worst i have encountered and it takes 10 minutes to get to a representative, they then transfer you from one person to another, and the call then gets cut off. This has happened to me every time i have made a transfer in recent months. The customer service is incredibly bad.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. You have to give up hours to call for the most simple thing. The actual credit cards are awful too. They just print the card number which wears off in weeks. Just everything is such poor quality. They should learn from Amex which is excellent.

I've been a customer for over 20 years…

I've been a customer for over 20 years and they charge me $12 in fees because I don't have the minimum amount in my account ($1500). Ridiculous. My Spanish bank charges nothing, even if I have $0 in my account. I will be looking into a US bank that doesn't require a minimum balance.

Dreadful experience

Dreadful experience. You cannot even report suspicious fraudulent activities on your account.
Try to speak with their customer service representative and be my guest. They make it practically impossible. They have a completely useless ChatBot that is suppose to assist you but this too is teh worst I have seen.
I have never seen anything similar to that in any other bank. It is so antiquated. Only fouls bank wit them.

Citi bank is a waste of time

I ordered a mattress from lowes on June 30, 2024. When I called Monday they had a problem with my order
I called citi about the charge on my card. I I got on the phone was machines and people that could barely speak English. I asked for the manager. Some man got on the phone who could barely speak English and was mumbling in a very low voice. When I told him I can't hear him, he hung up the phone on me. I called a second time. Got more machines and incompetent people who could not speak English. They were more worried about a old phone number I had and couldn't remember instead of the issue. I will never use my citi card to order from the internet again. Not worth the time and trouble.

Service at Citi continues getting worse…

Service at Citi continues getting worse by the day. It took me 14 days to get a new debit card- they entered my new address wrong; and after talking with no less than 10 different people finally it dawned on her to check my address and found the mistake (shame on me too--for thinking they had done it right. Yesterday they placed an alert on my account without notifying me- and after 20 minutes on the phone it was taken off my account. Cannot access my account on the mobile or with a computer. Must wait 24-hours before getting it turned on. This is only one of the many problems I've had with Citi lately. Been a client since 2006 and terminating my relationship with thme tomorrow, or day after----as soon as I can move my money and not a day later.

Citi bank sent me the wrong card, but won't send me correct one now

Citi bank sent me an ATM card to replace my out of date Debit card. I live in the UK, so there are no US ATM's here in UK, what a joke!!!! So now I can't use card to make online or telephone purchases!! I have been on phone 3 times to them for hours, they can't send a correct debit card, even though it was their mistake!!! as they can't verify me on a UK phone!! Total trash company to treat customers this way!

Worst, Horrible, Make false promise and Big Lies

Worse, worse, worse service! Full of lies and the management is more than ridiculous. They have high end manager named OLIVER and he was trying to give me 15,000 point equivalent of loss of my family member. I booked an airfare using their platform and due to illness I have to cancel only one person. And a year later, they slammed 100% the charges on me, even they had offered their fake travel insurance. I travel with my family several time a year and I have always used the CITI Card. Very unprofessional staff including their managers. No help, total waste of time.

Citi makes it impossible to close a card

Citi MC declined four charges this week. Each time I confirmed by email, text and phone. The call center takes forever. Finally I decided to close the account. Called. The center has a practice of stalling until you get frustrated and hang up. I was put on hold, transferred 3x, each time asked the same verification questions, asked to wait a second at least 50 times, said they were having trouble, would I call back later, they didn't have the power to close it, asked for checking account, savings accounts and other credit card info, asked how many times I tried to charge each declined purchase. Finally they closed it after 70 minutes. This is abusive. Do not EVER deal with Citi.

Costco should cut CITI Bank and get a…

Costco should cut CITI Bank and get a new carrier like Chase.

Worse customer services and credit card.

It calls Costco Anywhere Visa but it doesn’t freaking work in Thailand. I put in a travel notice and it still asked for OTP to verify via text message or phone call. Okay!! I don’t have my US number activated overseas, how am I getting a text message or a phone calls. One of the biggest bank in the world but cannot freaking figure simple authentication method like Chase Bank. My Chase card works perfectly fine without travel notice. How does Chase do it and ST*PID CITI CANNOT??

ScamBank

I recently had the misfortune of dealing with CitiBank, and it was a complete nightmare from start to finish. Their customer service was atrocious, with long wait times and unhelpful representatives who seemed more interested in passing the buck than actually solving my issues. Their online banking platform was outdated and glitchy, making it nearly impossible to carry out simple transactions without encountering errors. To top it off, their fees were exorbitant, and they seemed to nickel and dime me for every little thing. Save yourself the headache and steer clear of Citi Bank at all costs.

ATM Transaction Issues

I went on a Carnival Cruise to Mexico. I tried using my Tractor Supply Credit Card (backed by Citi-Bank) at the ATM. It was declined because it "exceeded the daily amount". I received no money from them at all. I called several times, got several different explanations. Finally, Manager 'Frank' told me it was the type of ATM I was using (not backed by a bank??? even though all of them are backed by a bank) and because the ATM fee was being added to the transaction, making it an illegal request and subsequently declined. He added there was nothing I could do and I could not make a formal complaint that would be investigated and a response/follow up given.

Customer service run around

Terrible customer service. I made a few purchases from Target online and got an email from Citi asking me to verify my purchase. I did. Then, I got another email saying that they have to speak to me in order to released my card which is pretty ridiculous. So I called and spoke to Shelby. Went over the whole situation with her only for her to flatly tell me that she’d have to transfer me. Don’t you hate when they do that? Then when I asked if she could handle it without transferring, she again very flatly told me that that wasn’t her department. As you can expect, she put me on a 10+ minute hold after which I just hung up. Would not recommend Citi to anyone.

Citi is a SCAM company

I would give a zero star. I’ve been with these people almost two years. Always made on time payments. Never maxed it out. They closed my account out of the blue for no reason !!! Credit scores dropped 80 points after spending 3 years cleaning it up. I wish I could meet their ceo face to face.

Citibank’s number, I thought I knew it all.
But little did I know, it was just the start,
Of a numeric journey, that would test my heart. 🎵

🎵 Press one, press two, now press three-four-five,
The numbers never end, am I still alive?
Six-seven-eight, and don't you dare hesitate,
To enter your account, your date of birth, don't be late! 🎵

🎵 "Please enter your sixteen-digit card," it said,
I fumbled, mumbled, numbers danced in my head.
“Now your four-digit PIN,” oh what a spin,
Felt like a game show, that I just couldn't win. 🎵

🎵 Press nine, press ten, now start all over again,
This keypad tango is driving me insane.
Eleven-twelve, I'm talking to myself,
Pressing numbers endlessly, like books on a shelf. 🎵

🎵 "For security, your mother’s maiden name,"
I yelled it out, but it’s always the same.
"Invalid input," the robotic voice cried,
I sighed, I tried, part of me died inside. 🎵

🎵 Then a glimmer of hope, "Press star to speak to a human,"
But it was just a trick, another numeric conundrum.
"Enter the value of Pi," it demanded with glee,
I hit random numbers, longing to be free. 🎵

🎵 Thirteen-fourteen, is this a bad dream?
I'm drowning in digits, or so it would seem.
Fifteen-sixteen, I scream at the screen,
"Just connect me to a person, you soulless machine!" 🎵

I cried tears of joy, at last, a human sound,

My real rating is as negative as…

My real rating is as negative as negative gets. I've been a good customer for a few years, never been late, never ran close to my limot, recently started making bigger payments and not adding to my balances so much. They have been balance chasing me every few months and every time they do it lowers my credit score about 20 points for a while. They have destroyed my credit and I haven't actually done anything wrong. The push your credit limit down to your balance and raise the interest because now you are over 98% usage even though you have only made payments and not added to the balance. The app rarely works, the website rarely works, customer service doesn't exist, doing credit with them was the biggest credit mistake I have ever made. They started out ok for the first couple years. Every time you try to do something important, "something went wrong" on both the app and website. I was trying to build my credit and now it's worse than it was when I started trying to build it and I have never even been late.

Close my account without warning

Close my account without warning, nor any communication on the topic. Find out when card expired. Can't access mobile app (no active card). Now they want me to call in every month and give my SS# to make a payment. Set up auto pay for minimum monthly and they take 3x the amount authorized. Citi has gone way down hill the last couple of years. Will never use again.

I would like to speak to someone on the Security Team

I would like to speak to someone on the Security Team for their pathetic lack of security. And I'd like to talk to the Fraud Department for the operator's gross errors making me question her competence. T

I have been a customer for years and up until now have been very happy. However, currently, I am deeply disturbed by your company’s lack of competence regarding fraudulent transactions.

Firstly, your security team failed miserably on December 4, 2023 and allowed two fraudulent transactions slide through without warning me. I called on December 5, 2023 when I woke up to a notice regarding a third fraudulent transation that you did manage to catch. Then we went over a number of transactions to verify if they were legitimate or not.

When I talked to the operator, on December 5, who seemed not to be listening to me because she kept talking and talking when I kept saying wait… wait.. wait.. I told her that two of the transactions were fraudulent.

But I just noticed now that the dispute was listed as being initiated on December 10th, five whole days later. What the heck is going on, Citi? You waited five days? Your own website says that when we catch fraudulent transactions we are supposed to react within 48 hours. I did. I called on December 5th. You guys failed to initiate the dispute until December 10th.

And I also just noticed that on December 5th, a dispute was put in to one charge which I clearly said was a legitimate purchase, and I was given a security credit. I can’t believe the level of incompetence here. I want to speak to someone.
