We are currently on our trip in the USA. Our fridge doesn’t work when we haven’t got electricity. To top it off, it gives this super annoying beep all the time it is not working.
We have called with cruise America. First time they have answered and we tried something. But the times after that they didn’t picked up the phone. While hanging on the line it was costing us €50 each time we had to wait.
Than I have sent an email last week, which I still do not have an answer to!
And we had to toss out a lot of our expensive grocery’s because they went bad!!
Our travel agent in the netherland also emailed them.
They can expect we want a refund!!!

Mr. T, manager of the Chino Valley, AZ branch,
This email is to summarize my calls to and from Travelers Assistance team(TA) regarding the nearly uncontrollable condition of the RV that Cruise America rented us. I believe the shocks are worn out because the RV was very difficult to control and I was told repeatedly by the TA team member that they were searching for a company to look at and remedy the problem.
I told them of other problems we were having because of the shaking of the vehicle, i.e. stove grates ending up on the floor, the rotating glass plate in the microwave bouncing around in the oven, the smoke detector alarm falling to the floor, drawers opening up while on the road. We improvised solutions during our travels that we would implement prior to each time we were to depart a location heading for the next one.
We are not seeking a monetary solution or remedy for our inconvenience or degradation of our "Vacation", at this time, but are requesting the vehicle we rented be maintained so other renters won't have to endure the same result as we have.
Other problems involved leaking sinks, leaking shower. The shower is directly above the main storage compartment where our canvas chairs and suitcases were stored. If you check the spare tire compartment it may still have water in it. 90% of items were soaked from the shower leak. Everything that was stored in the storage space smelled like the gray sewage. Since returning from the road trip from hell we have washed everything twice and except for some stains on some items most have survived.
All of this would have and should have been prevented if Cruise America would pay more attention to maintenance. It seems your TA dept. has been trained to lie just to appease the renter and wait them out until the rented RV is returned. Since we've been home I have researched RV repair shops in Moline, IL and found several, however your renters contract is adamant that only the TA dept. is to be contacted for any and all problems the renter may encounter. My requests of having a repair shop look at the problem we were having were handled by J(twice), D and one or two other employees which I didn't get their names but should have been recorded by TA.
I will never rent from CA again. CA is putting the public and their customers in harms way. CA won't spend a dime to maintain their equipment. They lie to appease so they won't have to actually have the trucks serviced.
There are plenty of companies in this business that are honest. Take the time to find them. If you are set on using CA avoid the RV with the VIN#1FDWE3FN0PDD02130. Ford F350 2023 with over 121K miles as of June 11, 2026.
Good luck to the unsuspecting public.

Dear Cruise America Customer Service Team,
I am writing to formally report several serious issues with the RV I recently rented.
Unfortunately, the vehicle was not properly maintained or inspected prior to my rental, which significantly impacted my trip. Please see the details of the issues below:
1. Generator Failure: The generator does not start. While it worked at the pickup point, it has not started since. On 7/16, I contacted the Travelers Assistance Team (800-334-4110) to report this. I was promised a callback and that someone would meet us to resolve the issue, but I received no follow-up.
2. Refrigerator Malfunction: The fridge propane stopped working, causing all of our food to spoil while on the road. Furthermore, the local rental agent informed me that the refrigerator was not turned on to cool prior to our arrival. ( MAJOR ISSUE), it was 100 degrees outside, hotter inside.
3. Structural and Mechanical Issues: There is a serious rattling noise coming from underneath the RV. Additionally, the shower water lever is loose on the wall, the silverware drawer is broken, and the bathroom wall has separated from the wall panel.
4. Missing Equipment: The RV did not include a water hose. Upon reaching a full hookup site, I had to locate and purchase a hose myself, which cost $37.05.
5. Inadequate Air Conditioning: The RV's air conditioning unit fails to cool the vehicle properly, only reaching a comfortable temperature around 11:00 PM.
6. Odor Issues: There is a persistent mildew smell throughout the vehicle, which becomes particularly strong when the vehicle's dashboard A/C is turned on.
7. Damaged Electrical Component: The shore power plug was bent, preventing it from plugging into the outlet properly.
I have documented all of these issues with photos and videos for your review. I sent this email 7/17/26 or so and as of today. crickets from Cruise America. This whole situation could have been avoided if the rental company (contracted by cruise america) Black Hills Auto Grooming ( yes a auto detailing place) had done their job and maintained, inspected and repaired any issues before renting.
