⭐ 1/5 — Locked out of my account, poor support, and not worth paying for

I cannot recommend Crunchyroll in its current state.

I contacted Crunchyroll support because I could not log in to my account. I explained clearly that I needed access restored, or if they could not restore it, I wanted the account fully deleted. Instead of actually fixing the problem, support gave me generic replies and said the team already knew about the issue. That is not a solution.

The most frustrating part is that I cannot properly manage or secure my own account while login is broken. I have received security/data exposure alerts connected to the email I use, but because I cannot access my account, I cannot check my settings, change anything, or delete the account myself. That is unacceptable for a paid streaming service.

Crunchyroll also has serious quality problems beyond this account issue. The app and website are buggy, the streaming experience is inconsistent, seasons and shows are missing depending on region, and the catalogue often feels worse than it should considering how much anime Crunchyroll controls outside Japan. It feels like better anime services were absorbed or shut down, but Crunchyroll did not replace them with a better experience.

For anime fans outside Japan, Crunchyroll’s dominance has made the situation worse, not better. I would rather see more anime return to other platforms that can provide better apps, better customer support, better account security, and a more reliable viewing experience.

My request is simple: restore access to my account or provide clear written confirmation that the account and associated data can be fully deleted. Until Crunchyroll seriously improves its login system, account support, app stability, regional catalogue issues, and customer service, I do not think people should support this service with a paid subscription.

⭐ 1/5 — Terrible support, broken login, awful service quality, and to many app/site issues....

Crunchyroll has become one of the most frustrating streaming services I’ve ever dealt with.

I cannot even log in to my account properly, and support did not actually help me fix the issue. I explained that I was locked out and that I either wanted access restored or the account fully deleted, but the response felt generic and dismissive. They said the team “knows about the issue,” but this kind of problem has been going on for ages, and nothing seems to improve.

The service itself is also disappointing. The app and website are buggy, the streaming experience is unreliable, seasons and shows are often missing depending on region, and the catalogue feels worse than it should considering how much anime Crunchyroll controls in the West. It feels like Crunchyroll absorbs or replaces better anime services, but then fails to actually provide a better product.

Account security also feels worrying. I have received notifications that my data have been exposed many times, but because I cannot log in properly, I cannot manage or secure my own account. That is unacceptable for a paid streaming service.

Overall, Crunchyroll feels poorly managed, unreliable, and frustrating to use. I will not pay for this service again unless they seriously fix their login system, account support, app/site stability, history issues/bugs, catalogue issues, and customer service.........

Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll, who started out as a pirating website, is killing other major free anime websites while jacking up their own prices and have a piss poor selection of shows on their site.

Needs a "Drop" feature and episode comments

I really need a way to drop an anime from my feed. My "Continue Watching" list keeps growing with shows I have no intention of finishing. Additionally, adding a comment section below every episode would be a great way to improve community engagement.

Terrible

Terrible. Small ahh Library & Shitty Subtitles + removing already added Animes (86), restricts comparatively smaller but legal services like Muze Asia (on YT) to premiere an Anime on its Airing Date (Re:Zero & Muze Asia has WAY BETTER subtitles of Re:Zero than Crunchyroll), sells user data to 3rd Party Companies, User's CC's ENTIRE info including the ENTIRE CVV/Card No ./Name was stored on the website and then leaked through their admin/mod acc and even tried to keep that info secret without publically informing and apologising.

Doesn't have all the anime website is a nightmare for the price you pay not worth it after the sign up and a promise of a certain anime being there with eng dub Promised by the website, I spent a good long time registering just to find out the website lied giving false advertising about it's content which was a major disappointment then tried looking. Up other anime and none were there I decided to delete my subscription instantly. Very disappointed and betrayed.

Few of the issues I faced with Crunchyroll

The website is not that bad but it is just that many of the shows that I want to watch are just not available on it. It happened with me many times that even if the show I want to watch is neither available in my native language nor Japanese Sub for me to watch. I face these issues frequently, especially the unavailability one, but I gave the last time I had this issue. I'll give you an example- The movie, 'Scarlet', and some of the others that were in the anime awards choice this year for the best movie are just not available in crunchyroll.

DISGUSTING customer support

Disgusting customer support. What should have been a simple inquiry about a pending charge turned into a complete nightmare. After struggling through an AI bot, I was connected to two agents outside Europe, who repeatedly requested sensitive card information without properly explaining why it was needed. This review is not about Crunchyroll itself. It's about the poor quality of customer support I received today. The service felt dismissive, aggressive, and unnecessarily complicated. The quality of support is clearly deteriorating.

What happens when you strongarm your supporters

After monopolizing the anime medium, crunchyroll swept across GitHub and other data repositories to destroy all anime not on their site, followed by deleting their free tier as well. So now you either pay them to watch anime, or you don't watch anime. It's a dystopian situation. I'd also like to make note that Crunchyroll began in 2006 as an illegal piracy website as well.
