More Shopping Choices from Damak!!

I have been an avid shopper at Damak in Bradford, but they have recently launched their Pakistan website, so I ordered a kurta and some trousers, and they are a perfect fit!

The clothes sold on their PK website are not sold in UK.

Love Damak

I've been ordering from Damak for years.
I love their products and am very happy with their services, even when I've gotten the wrong order which they have refunded and processed promptly and courteously. I hope to continue buying from them for many more years to come IA.

Stay away! Rogue trader with aggressive thug tactics.

​I had a nightmare experience with this company. They sent me the wrong dress, and rather than apologise and send the correct one, they held my order hostage. They demanded I pay upfront for their mistake and refused to dispatch the correct item until I "proved" I had posted the wrong one back—despite me explaining my work schedule made an immediate trip to the post office impossible.
​When I pushed back, their customer service turned nasty. The tone was threatening and unprofessional, eventually escalating to them threatening me with legal action for simply trying to get the item I already paid for! It is clear from other reviews that they frequently fail to refund postage costs. Save yourself the stress—this business does not follow the law and treats customers like criminals for their own shipping errors. Just to be clear they were rude! Threatening! I received the package on Thursday and reported it straight away I spent the next few days chasing. On Monday evening I was given instructions to post the dress with m paying for the postage again. Informed them that I was unable to go to the Post Office until Saturday. Due to my work commitments and I was met with degrading rude messages at which point I advised them that I would be dispute. The transaction as the company had failed to provide neither the dress that I had ordered and paid for. They continued with their aggressive and rude tone. Until the order was cancelled, and I did not receive the outfit at all. Given that the outfit was for Eid. RUDE DISRESPECTFUL PEOPLE THAT DO NOT DESERVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY Strictly avoid!!!

Hi,
1. We accepted and very politely said that we will send out the item as soon as she can send a receipt. We were instead threatened with a chargeback- it is a legal right that if they have things that we would pursue in response to recover our items.
2. The customer was insistent that we as good will send the item and she will return the item on a later date. We cannot do this as we have as a small company lost out a number of times- but every time we mentioned this we got a lot of messages about how we would be dragged to trading standards.
3. When the customer sent the return receipt she was refunded within the hour AND we refunded the item 100% as we weren't going to be bullied or threatened- YES we made a mistake and we accept it but that doesn't mean that we have to get threatened in every message.

If I could give no stars I would

If I could give no stars I would. I ordered 2 dresses and emailed them to return one, which they promptly responded to providing details on where to return. I returned the dress, paying the return postage myself. The parcel was received their end but no refund in sight. Emailed them several times and even called them. No response. Nada! I opened a dispute with PayPal and the seller still didn’t respond though they were given ample time to do so. In the end it was PayPal that refunded the money to me. This company has no integrity whatsoever and I will not be buying from them again as a matter of principle. It doesn’t matter to me how good their clothes might be, if they are ultimately dishonest in their dealings. For all those rating them highly, beware should you ever need to return an item!

Update to Damak response…
Sadly, was expecting a response from them as below. It’s irrelevant how much the refund was worth, whether £12 or £120. Point is the refund did not come from you, it came from PayPal. You did not respond at all, not to me or to PayPal. This ‘contesting’ excuse is a diversion and avoids responsibility. Also, last I checked people use pseudonym, names of pets, nicknames as their usernames on these platforms. Again - irrelevant to your actions as a business! Pity that it takes a negative review to get a response from you. If you replied to your emails from customers as quickly as you do to negative reviews, we wouldn’t be here. Trying to discredit customers while avoiding responsibility is poor behaviour. Very sad indeed. Shame on you.

Even as per your review, where have we been dishonest? Did we refuse your refund? Did we contest your case with Paypal? Did you not get your refund?


You sent back an item worth £12.74 (almost 35% off the original price) and claimed back £15.07 for which the refund would be automated anyway so in effect, you claimed back half of your initial postage which we did not contest either.

Further, if we have lots of cases then how would we know who you are given your reviewing name isn't your original name?

Not Linen

Edit: Updated my review from 2 star to 1 star. Damak, your reply was defensive and dismissive and labelled my feedback as “misinformation” rather than addressing it respectfully. Not to mention it was rude to say “don’t know who you are." My original disappointment was about fabric being advertised as linen when it was not, but being spoken to this way by itself as a customer is disappointing, especially as I have spent a lot of money with you overtime.

amak used to market products as linen, but it was just linen by name. They are now advertising items as "viscose linen", so quite misleading as the items were viscose all along. I bought them believing they were natural fabrics. Disappointing, especially after spending hundreds of pounds including return costs. Now they’re introducing polyester too so there’s nothing natural or non-synthetic about their clothing as implied by their marketing. I will stick to Pakistani brands that sell lawn or other non synthetic fabrics. As a women's brand, Damak could do better. Synthetics like polyester are not only cheap and far from environmentally friendly but also be harmful to health without realising. Transparency matters.

Sorry we don't know who you are but lets get a lot of this misinformation straight:

1. We did sell 100% Pakistani Linen until 2021 but that has massive dye problems and problems with bobbling. We switched to viscose and airjet fabric which is unbroken and provides a longer life with better printing and dyeing results. We do at times sell a blend too.
2. All of our fabrics until last month were natural,linen and viscose IS a semi-synthetic fibre made from wood cellulose.
3. ALL pakistanis sell polyester in one form or another. Our polyester is clearly labelled. Sana Safinaz, Limelight both sell polyester. Lulusar is based entirely on polyster gripe and chiffon. ALL Pakistani brands launch viscose.

Poor customer service. No refund issued

Sent dresses back for refund using tracked service which I paid for. Can see items reached 5 days ago. Emailed Damak for refund. Still no communication so have emailed again. Still waiting for refund and any communication.

I know my emails have not gone to your junk folders as when I sent email questions about ordering from you I got replies straight away. My return code is:return code: RR203-29068. Sent via royal mail tracking as you requested , not evri

Update it took OVER 32 days to get a refund and I had to send several emails continuously everyday. Even then the refund was partly vouchers to use at your shop. No thanks!

As of this evening we have no e-mail this week that hasn't been replied to: it would be helpful if you wrote your name so we could check our junk inbox.

Our returns e-mail clearly mentions that we will process the return within 14 days and cannot update you on whether or not we have your return but if your tracking code says it has been received then we will process it. Even this week Evri dumped a parcel from someone else outside in the bin from someone else but we still refunded it.

UPDATE: We got to know about your return from this review and got it picked from a neighbour. You purchased 3 items, one which was full price and the other two were 50% OFF on clearance for which you used a further 15% OFF. These got a voucher.

Horrendous customer service!!!

On a positive note, clothes quality are good, fast postage, although I had to return as my outfit was far too big, now this is where the problem started, their customer service is horrendous called and emailed several times, messaged on Facebook and was told my refund is coming within 14 days, it's been nearly a month, and had to claim my money back through PayPal, they didn't even liase with PayPal they're that bad at communicating! Well it worked in my favour as inwas refunded- all in all if u know ur size and want to keep the outfit then great order from them, if like me you're new and you're trying them out hoping u can return then I say don't bother as u won't get your money back! Reply to Damak: I opened case cos u guys weren't responding and yes I'm glad I got a refund, I clearly stated this on this review, in not the only person complaining about ur customer services, there's someone else didn't even get money back, u have no defense for this so I don't need your reply!!

I always buy my clothes from Damak as they provide for plus size people. Their clothes great and prices are fantastic. Please keep it up.

Great clothes, good service

Emails were responded to very quickly (had a query about delivery) and the suits and kurtas were gorgeous all at a bargain price. If you want lovely suits that don’t cost the Earth then this is the place! Sizing is accurate and the fabric is soft. Good bargains if you like updating your wardrobe every 1-2 years. Highly recommend!

Appalling customer service

Appalling customer service, after receiving an email to state that 13 lines had been added to “factory clearance”, I travelled 27 miles to the shop as measurements stated online are never accurate, when I went to pay for the items, the man told me different prices, I explained that they had been reduced and proceeded to show the email, he said Noman sent that, I asked what that actually meant as I had received an email from the company, he told me that the email meant that defective items had been reduced, however it does not explain this anywhere in the email, which clearly should be stated for consumers. He said well im telling you!! I decided to not make the purchase as they were lying and misleading customers. The man behind the counter is always rude, abrupt and dismissive however today he really did surprise me with his slyness all over a few £££. I will be contacting trading standards re my experience

Maxi dresses

Ordered maxi dresses - the necklines are VERY VERY low and wide - not as shown on the photos on their website. It is impossible to wear these without a top underneath.
Company will not offer refunds - only a credit voucher.

They will give you very poor quality clothes. But if you return they will not refund your money

I am very disappointed about their customer service, I bought three items online the product was very low quality. I returned to them all threes but they didn’t refund my money. They told me they have received two items and waste my time, it’s nearly two months. Even though they didn’t refund my money . Please don’t buy from them.

Overall good experience

The outfits are beautifully made and delivered in a timely manner. I had to do a return and if was dealt with promptly and efficiently.

Great service

I am not from Asian background but I like the quality of clothing and the long shirts, especially in the summer time. I came across Damak on social media and ordered a black one. I ordered a small size which was a bit tight and they exchanged it on my request. I received a medium even though I didn’t write the coding as it slipped my mind. The shirt feels so comfortable and I will be wearing it with jeans. Very happy with their service and communication and will be ordering again.

This time this experience has been exceptional. Not only have they introduced free delivery over £60, which is very quick now, I also received emails regularly updating me. Now this is the best service. I have already recommended them to family and hope this service remains at this high level!
