We do encounter this feedback and often it is specific to some varieties are our roses, like children, often grow at different rates. Took a lot of time to ship even after saying that it will be shipped in mid may. Plant doesn’t have that quality. Very small compared to the one you sell in the UK. Packing also very bad. The pots are normal pots but in the UK they are very sturdy and high quality. You charge more in the US but the quality is not worth it.

We have been delighted with our David Austin roses. We purchased a Claire Austin climbing rose a few years ago and it has been a beautiful climber with abundant blooms. We recently purchased three additional roses for containers on our deck and have just planted them. Can’t wait to see the beautiful blossoms!

Service and quality have changed
My shipping was delayed. No one answered the phones at David Austin for 2 weeks. My rose finally arrived, but it was completely yellow with the soil spilled out. I ordered four roses from Heirloom Roses at the same time. I received them within the week and they all arrived very healthy and are thriving next to my sad, struggling Gertrude Jekyll. The quality and customer service at DA has declined significantly since I ordered a large batch of roses in 2008. I hate to write such a review of a brand I love so much but roses are a significant investment to be so disappointing.

Small rose
The rose I received had very little root system and the plant was very small. Healthy looking leaves but a few broken stems even though it was packed well. Hopefully will have no problems.

Too long for delivery. Too small plants Plants look frail and leaves are very pale. Not happy. Plants at local nursery seem much bigger healthier and more worth the value. Sorry!

Arrived with black spot.
Both of my roses finally arrived and had black spot. I’ve called and received no response. I’ve emailed to ask what I can do to make sure my rose isn’t prone to disease in the future and received no response. I’ve ordered 8 David Austin roses this year and I was very happy, aside from not being able to contact anyone for help.

I am writing to share how much your roses—and your beautifully designed website—mean to me. Just browsing the vivid pictures and detailed descriptions offers a moment of pure serenity.
As the former Program Director of a large Cancer Institute in Minneapolis for 12 years, I tended an English garden filled with about 25 David Austin roses. Received my order 5/27/26 and my rose is in terrible condition. I have invested over 1k in DA roses and do not plan to order potted plants again. Also customer service is lacking significantly !
