Non Existent Customer Service

This company is utterly appalling. The standard of workmanship is abysmal—without question the worst I have ever encountered. Their so-called customer service is nonexistent; rather than taking responsibility for their substandard work, they resort to deflecting blame onto anything and everything else. This organization demonstrates a complete lack of integrity and professionalism. Avoid this company at all costs.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY !
Fitted flooring on my new build and it was wrong on two out of three rooms ! It has taken them 12 months to rectify one of the rooms and have come out to access the other room three times each time saying it needs replacing and then saying they need to access it again and that they haven’t had a report from the inspection. After rectifying the one room they have today they have taken chunks out of my skirting boards. I am absolutely disgusted with the service and will be telling everyone I know to stay well away and so will my tradie husband ! I haven’t been able to enjoy my brand new house and the decorating process because of this company and they have left everything an absolute mess. Shoddy workmanship, awful customer service and issues still not all resolved over 12 months down the line !

Poor workmanship and service

Poor workmanship and service.

The LVT flooring is not properly seal and level. The carpets are not properly fitted. They say that this is completely normal and refuse to sort it out.

Additionally, the worker who came to my house was extremely rude. He made sexist comments and spoke to me in a condescending manner, implying I couldn't understand him because I am Spanish.

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

Dealing with this company was a complete nightmare. Despite their claims of being a top-tier flooring company, their professionalism and customer service was severely lacking, and it felt like they were run by amateurs. The quality of their vinyl flooring installation was atrocious. They made me feel bullied and tried to paint me as the dishonest one in the situation. Regrettably, the new build development I purchased my home from used Designer Contracts for our Vinyl flooring installation, and the person responsible for the job clearly lacked the necessary expertise and standards to do a good job.

I'm confident that the way they treated my family and me is not how they would want to be treated themselves if it was their home.
Here is some of the things that happened:

Our kitchen flooring was laid wonky. When we raised this issue, they insultingly offered a measly compensation of £175. To give you an idea, it would be difficult to find another company willing to fix the problem for such a small amount.

Jakki from Designer Contracts then offered to visit my property to assess the issue and mentioned she'd bring Victoria, whom she described as "the bulldog" – not my words, but Jakki's. I'm still trying to figure out what that nickname implies.

Upon arrival, they blamed the wonky flooring on the wall, absolving themselves of any responsibility. They even claimed that they always align the flooring with the external wall, which was clearly not the case.

Victoria attempted to persuade me that the uneven appearance was due to inconsistencies in the silicone application. I wasn't born yesterday!

Additionally, they inspected our carpet and promised to have the development company cover its replacement cost (I don't contest this part, so thank you, Victoria). However, on the day of the carpet replacement, the fitter arrived early and wanted to start and make noise before 8am, knocking at around 7:20 am. When 8am was the agreed-upon time, he began tearing up our old carpet but when he went to retrieve the new carpet, he couldn't access it due to a central locking malfunction.

Now this isnt something that the fitter would have wanted to happen and I do not for one minute imply that this fitter would have done a bad job if he had access to his van but it did mean that due to this issue, I was impacted by this situation as this left us without carpet and hazardous staples on the stairs, posing a risk to our small children and pets. It didnt help the situation when Designer Contracts started using my hoover to clear up the mess made by the fitter.

If this had of been the first interaction with Designer Contracts, I would have most likely accepted that this was a one off but this wasnt the first time that they had treated me badly so now that this had happened, I wanted Designer Contracts to take ownership and make things right and change my opinion of the company

Designer Contracts displayed no empathy for the inconvenience caused and offered neither compensation nor an apology.

Any normal company would do what it takes to make the situation right and offer some sort of compensation... even if it was in the way of discount but nothing was even mentioned.

When we had to rescheduled the fitting I requested a PM slot due to the school run, Jakki confirmed a PM slot in a voicemail and I agreed this with my work to be around to allow the fitter in and do carry out the work.

Yet, the day before the appointment, I was told the fitter would arrive between 8 am and 12 pm. When I reminded Jakki of the agreed-upon time, she denied it and insinuated that I was lying, asserting that confirming a time via voicemail isn't their standard practice. I offered to send her the voicemail file to which Jakki stated that she wasnt interested.

Jakki also advised that If I wasnt able to agree now that it is an AM slot then I would have to reschedule again and the reason to why it has to be an AM slot was because the fitter needs to get an MOT done on his van. Why should that be something that should impact me?

Finally, Anthony arrived to install our new carpet. He had no issues accessing his van, unlike the previous fitter. I also asked him if he was still getting his MOT done to which he advised that he couldnt get an appointment. Which meant that he could have done the PM slot after all.

In summary, steer clear of this company. Or Jakki to be precise, ask for someone else to handle your job as she has painted a picture of designer contracts being a company that prioritize profit over quality and customer satisfaction, turning the entire process into a nightmare.

Ironically, another company rectified the issue and replaced all the downstairs flooring, and guess what? No more wonky flooring!

Do not look after staff or customers

Do not look after staff. They clearly did NOT want the role they advertised, filled, and especially filled by a confident person who brought leads to the company.
Very disorganised and have a 'customers can wait' attitude.
Ran by a incompetent manger in the south east region.
Sacked for no reason at all, while being extremely life changing poorly; just days before probation ended. No notice given!
Over priced products, expect delays, even more delays for quotes, ONLY if your lucky enough to not be put on the bottom of the pile, you maybe ignored completely.
The uk's number 1 flooring provider for disappointment only.

Terrible Company and Customer Service

Very unimpressed by this company. We bought a new build house with Lino that had bubbled. A employee from designer contracts (who had laid the lino) came out to assess the bubbling and made me feel extremely uncomfortable making comments that extra weight on dining chairs had caused bubbling which was not only offensive, but incorrect as the bubbling in our Lino was across the whole of our kitchen not just our dining area. Sadly despite fighting that the Lino had clearly not been laid correctly in the first place due to there being no glue and just a few strokes around the edges, we had been forced to pay to have the flooring fixed by them.
As first time buyers, this was a very terrible experience for us and ended up costing us money therefore I would absolutely not recommend this company.

(I would however like to thank Ray, who was an absolute superstar in helping us get the lino sealed)

Avoid this company at all costs.
Designer contracts supplied and fitted carpets to our new home that was bought through Taylor Wimpey.
The carpets were fitted incorrectly and although they have been out on two further occasions they still remain incorrectly fitted which has been confirmed by an independent assessor. This has caused the carpets to become damaged. The customer service is terrible and Designer Contracts are not interested in helping. They even tell blatant lies to Taylor Wimpey to avoid having to rectify the issue.
Please do not use this company. I would have awarded zero stars if that were possible.

AVOID - total waste of money

Honestly the worst customer service I have ever encountered when dealing with a business. Grossly incompetent, 0 quality or pride in their work and deceitful. We had the misfortune of having to deal with designer contracts via bellway and they damaged our furniture, fitted a carpet with a 2 inch hole in AND then lied to Bellway about the experience which led to us being our of pocket by nearly £2000. I wouldn't touch thie company with a barge pole. I have experience renovating homes and I could have done a better job myself with my eyes closed and both my hands chopped off. Stay well away from these con artists.

DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPANY!!!

DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPANY!!!!
Designer Contracts Falkirk installed our flooring …Moduleo! Like most of the reviews they didn’t fit it correctly. Our flooring started to lift. After 3 years of trying to get this fixed we have now ripped up the flooring and replacing it …with a decent flooring company. When we lifted the flooring We were shocked to find that there was no underlay under it …like we had paid for and a load of mud??? They had glued down everything ..not leaving any expansion gaps! This company don’t have a clue what they are doing and don’t fix anything. The company we have now laying or new floor have said they need to be reported to Trading Standards and they are helping us to do so! Don’t touch this company!!

Bullying culture!

Well what can I say about this company, if you like to be bullied and threatened then this is the place for you.

Within days I left the business.

Day 1 - had a general manager shout at me advising I was in her car parking space. Despite it NOT being designated parking. I refused to move my car and she stormed off.

Day 2. The same women came stamping towards my desk and asked me in an aggressive tone if I was parking in her space on purpose. Considering this was only my second day I was upset to have this interaction from a women in a leadership position. I responded with the same. It is not designated parking therefore I won’t be moving my car. She stormed off and told me “ I will be sorry “
Which implies she was going to do further I’ll mannered behaviour and make life here difficult. To have this from a manager is unprofessional and simply unacceptable.

Day 3 - I logged a complaint against The manager in question. As part of this I was took in to an office with an individual who was instantly hostile towards me. He was extremely unapologetic of the bull to g I had received on my first and second day and advised he did not appear happy that I wanted this complaint actioned. He then huffed at me and stormed out and slammed the door aggressively.

I have worked at many establishments within my working life and never have I been made to feel so awful.

Might I add this women is a mental health first aider, ironically.

I decided to leave the business however I will proceed with my complaint through HR. I feel individuals with status and leadership feel they can speak to people like dirt and enjoy it. That’s the impression I got in just a few days. I will never ever want anybody to feel how I did here so if this review helps anyone, it’s worth noting.

Absolutely Disgusting

These contractors had been booked by my landlord to replace my kitchen floor.
On the day they arrived, one of the fitters who was a scruffy looking short guy who had an oasis reject hair cut a banged on my front door with the handle of some sort of tool like a bailiff. I opened the door and asked him "was it necessary to bang on my door like that?" he then tried to downplay it and told me he hadn't, to which I responded "yes you did and its incredibly rude!" he then proceeded to argue with me about how he is not rude.
While him and his assistant fitter were laying my floor, I reviewed my CCTV to see how hard he had banged on the door and to reassure myself as he tried to basically gaslight me over the subject. It was incredibly apparent that he had banged on the door with excessive force, but not only that, as I was making my way to the door he muttered to himself "come on open the effing door!" How extremely rude, inappropriate and unnecessary!! I am disabled and rely on walking aids, it takes me slightly longer to answer the door but not so excessively long to warrent such a rude comment!
After they had fitted the floor I asked for the contact number for the company. The rude little hobbit tore off the corner of the invoice and asked his assisting fitter if the phone number for the company was on there because he couldn't see. It was on there and in clear enough font for me to be able to see without my glasses! He wasn't wearing any glasses for the entire visit so it was of no surprise to me when I saw the absolute state of the fitting! The flooring had been slit 2-3cm too far in to the centre of the floor away from the fitted area! there were gaps and tears all the way around and also durle to their carelessness they had knocked my skirting board off the wall! I had identified 11 ares of damage and shoddy work. The guy clearly needs to be wearying glasses and to take an extensive course in eticate, better yet, don't have have any contact with customers at all!
The floor has been arranged to be re fitted and they were due to arrive this morning. At 12pm I phoned the company and spoke to another ill mannered young man who said he would find out what's happening then proceeded to disconnect the call without telling me whether he was going to call back. How this company is even in business is a total mystery! He called me back within 5 minutes or so to tell me the fitters would be here in 10 minutes. It's now 1pm and nobody has arrived.
Absolutely deplorable service, no manners, no organisation and totally unable to abide by arranged times. Avoid at all costs!
****update****
I called the company again at 1pm to now be told that the fitter won't be here until approx 2:30 by which time I won't be in!!!
I've waited in all day with my children who are on half term break and haven't reached a conclusion to this absolutely ridiculous facade! I now have to wait until June 10th for the floor to be replaced!!! It's of no surprise that Designer contracts have a 2 star rating on Trust pilot. I'd consider that incredibly generous really considering my experience. Absolute time wasters with poor work ethic, unable to make appointment times and have the worst manners I've ever encountered!
****update****
The driver arrived on June 10th in the morning as planned. He came alone despite the company arranging with my landlord to remove the whitegoods. I was concerned the fitter wouldn't be able to do it but he assured me that he would take his time and do it himself. However, when he went to his can to retrieve my vinyl flooring, he discovered that it had been cut too small so wouldn't have fit anyway!!! It just gets worse and worse with Designer Contracts, an epic failure of a business.
I called the office to find out what they were going to do and was promised a call back on the 10th, but its now been 2 weeks of nothing. To say they're excruciatingly irritating and incapable is an understatement!!!!

Not followed pergo fitting instructions and floor is a mess…

Had to have them back to replace flooring on a few occasions and now saying it’s cause we have fitted shutters are manufactured warranty is void. Having read the manufacturer’s warranty, it states the floor has to be fitted with a minimum 2mm gap around all edges as a floating floor. So we have measured and there isn’t even a 0.3mm gap around edges we have removed all corking & silicone it’s pushed right up to the island and skirting and pvc windows there isn’t 0mm.

so DC have not fitted according to manufacturers guidelines. Their fitter appeared inexperienced and unprofessional and inflexible.

Quote already been back once. To me on the phone what’s the problem.

Not my issue take it up with the builder the floods were down to them. This was with mouldy lino upstairs, however shows the level of customer service.

Back to the original problem we now have a floor not fit for purpose cause they can’t follow manufacturers guidelines on fitting and have tried to blame the shutters.

Shutters were fitted after they came back to replace a few tiles when problem started. So cannot be the shutters.

The biggest issue is the utility we don’t have shutters in the utility.

We have full photos and guidelines and will be following the formal complaints procedure.

Thomas Sanderson state never had this problem reported ever. With any flooring. Funny that. Could it be their fitter haven’t even laid the floor properly in first place.

We were never given any manufacturers guidelines we have had to google the fitting instructions off their own DC website and they haven’t followed them themselves.

We have full intention of contacting small claims court if this isn’t resolved and we have an independent inspector coming after not accepting the response from Designer contracts this is paid by the builder luckily.

Otherwise would have been an expense to us so just be careful what you buy into.

If I could have given them zero then I would. Customer care is appalling. Four times I have waited in and they never turned up.

My husband has lost two days wages waiting in for them.
Made me laugh when I read their commitment to customers. They should practice what they preach.
