the Dover terminal, queuing process is awful. plenty of checking points but zero organised. staff dos not care , just avoid them.
It was a trouble free comfortable voyage in the executive club, which is well worth the surcharge. Time passed very quickly, rested and refreshed for the four hour journey ahead.
We travelled to France by ferry with our dog and paid extra for a pet-friendly cabin. The cabin itself was clean, comfortable, and had proper beds, so no complaints there.
However, the designated dog relief area was extremely small and located in what felt like an unsafe spot. Considering the high extra fees for pet-friendly cabins (£85+ on top of a passenger ticket that costs around €35), I expected much better facilities for pets. It honestly felt like the bare minimum was provided simply because pet owners have no other option.
If you choose not to book a cabin, your dog must either stay in the vehicle—which is unrealistic for a 3-hour crossing since cars are inaccessible and not running, meaning no air conditioning—or be left in the kennel area. Personally, I don’t think leaving a dog in a small cage in an unfamiliar environment is ideal either.
We were happy to pay the extra cost because having our dog with us on holiday is worth it, but I really think the ferry’s pet policies and facilities could be improved. Providing a cabin is appreciated, but limiting dogs to such a tiny toilet area does not feel fair and could be much better thought out.
Friendly staff at check in as we arrived early she put us on the earlier one, and young lady in 7 seas restaurant.
Easy booking and booking management via the DFDS app.
Easy check-in on arrival. On-time departures. Clean, comfortable and modern ferries. Well stocked duty free shops onboard. Good restaurant and food.
All good. I travel with DFDS frequently, having tried P&O, and Irish, and been disappointed with them.
Unfortunately Dunkirk border control is a joke - diversions signs fallen on the ground to get there, 5 border stops (the first one hadn't got a clue about needing a share code for an EU passport to UK). From Hoek v Holland it's organised but then it's not in France. The saving grace? Hourly crossings which is a life saver for 1000 mile away journeys. Would travel further to Le Shuttle but then we'd have to navigate French road signs!
Traveling with you was excellent and worth the 5 stars!
Unfortunately I cannot say how bad the situation was at the port of Calais was, poor signage for docking bays numbers 1100 upwards at the one roundabout?
A friendly and helpful chef at the cafe.
Cleanliness in the toilets was not good.
DFDS were fantastic, we unfortunately missed our ferry due to a breakdown and it was quick & easy to reschedule. Check in was painless and the kids got an activity pack too. Would recommend!

Quick ans easy to board and disembark. Plenty of options on board.

Really enjoyed the ferry both crossings.
Loses a star for the lack of "snacky" food options on the Amsterdam to Newcastle leg. Your choice is a croissant or a sit-down meal. Unless we completely missed it, it would be nice to just have a sandwich or chips rather than €36pp buffet (which was very good tbf).

You got a great member of staff in the premium lounge... Older guy very pleasant kind and helpful. The lounge is nice good assortment of snacks and drinks.

Great company, 😸 nothing wrong with DFDS, on the contrary! Problem is with ridiculous queues at boarder checks!! Why is there not a dedicated lane for EU passports holders like in any airports???

Peferred ferry link between Estonia and Sweden when travelling with a car.

We had a good time on the ferry but the traffic and organisation of getting to the ferry was awful, we arrived 3 hours early and still missed our ferry, the port was not organised well, no signs of where to go, we followed sat nav and were taken through town, only to be turned back and had to queue an hour to get back on road we were already on, surely signs would have helped, the traffic chaos was awful and clearly not well planned or organised

Smooth check-in and out.
Toilets (men) not great - no paper / no soap even at start of journey.
