Internet fraud continues to be a growing concern in the digital age, with perpetrators exploiting vulnerabilities in online transactions. I wanted to tell you about our experience with an Australian Company called Discount Beauty Boutique, located in a Post Office Box at Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise Queensland, Australia. Discount Beauty Boutique is an online beauty store that was launched in 2011.

Discount Beauty Boutique engages in deceptive practices by employing vague terms and refusing legitimate refund requests. The company's actions not only violate ethical business standards but also erode trust within the online marketplace, eroding their own brand image and the brand image of the myriad of cosmetic companies that they represent.

According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, a company like Discount Beauty Boutique 'can’t take away a consumer's right to a refund or replacement for faulty products or services. Over the last 3 months we have been seeking a refund of $500 for product returned and tracked by Australia Post. Yes, we paid for the return, and I am not prepared to write this off as a bad experience, without giving some air to this unscrupulous company engaged in fraudulent activities (no refund) and that takes advantage of questionable terms and unjustly denies refunds, leaving customers like us and others, in a state of frustration and financial loss.

It may also occur to you that 'how come these guys are not on eBay or Amazon?'. Simple, eBay and Amazon guarantee money back - and you are far better to get your beauty products there than through Discount Beauty Boutique. So, what can you do? If you have a legitimate claim, here are some avenues you can pursue, and remember, a legitimate claim which means for example, if you purchased and returned product, have a proof of purchase plus a tracked return, via AusPost - which you will have to pay for, and all the emails between yourself and Discount Beauty Boutique.

So, the first port of call is to contact your credit card company and ask for a chargeback. You will need all your documentation to support your claim, and surprisingly most banks, through their fraud department, are helpful. If you have used PayPal (which everyone should) they do the chasing. If you have no joy here, each state has an Office of Fair Trading. You can Google them, and they are very helpful. They will also investigate your issue. It requires a bit of on-line paperwork on your behalf, but from there they do the work, and generally come back in 30 days or so.

Next, and depending on your energy level, you can complete an individual police report at cyber.gov.au, citing fraud via the non-return of your hard earned. All states have a facility for non-urgent reporting and enquiries. It's online, and a call to 131 444 should get you sorted out.

Discount Beauty Boutique boast over 80 suppliers of cosmetic products on their site. What they don't seem to realise is that their recalcitrance not only damages their brand but also the brands of the Companies they represent. So, look for Australian suppliers to Discount Beauty Boutique, there are some heavy hitters out there, give them a call and let them know your story. You will find these companies operate at a different level when it comes to customer service and they are concerned to hear about their brand being damaged.

Finally, the realm of the cosmetic business is social media. Instagram, FB, You Tube TikTok. These are ideal channels to voice your grievance - but just be sure it's genuine, not just because you are having a 'bad hair day'. There have been reports of this mob sending 'cease and desist' letters - however if they have my $500 there is no 'cease and desist. Hope this helps you in the fight against a company that is unashamedly bad to do business with.

They are scam artist claiming they are from Australia and that they are located in Queensland. I bought multiple items 3 weeks back for a wedding. I specifically chose express shipping as I needed it the next 2 weeks. 2 weeks have passed and no response on my order, every time I email them they never reply even through there site states it can take up 24-48 hours for them to reply.

Do not waste your time and money on these scums, this website needs to be reported as they clearly false advertising there products and services.

I was lucky enough that bank has refunded me the $108 that was taken off me.

I wish I could of gave this site 0 stars for there lack of transparency.

SCAM SITE! Avoid ! Ordered 4 months ago, never received my order , all emails are ignored.

Placed an order and the item still hadn’t been sent three weeks later. Two emails to the company with no response. It was only after I opened a dispute with PayPal that they decided to send the item. They didn’t contact me directly but just sent a tracking number to PayPal. No customer service at all with this company. Do not buy from them.

After 3 weeks still nothing and I have had to go through my credit card company for a refund which still hasn’t been processed. I have asked for a refund multiple times and their customer service ignore the requests.

They are not a legitimate company. Stay away.

Ordered my package on 5 October and website states parcels are sent within 24 hours. Package has not been sent 10 days later and despite 3 emails there has been no communication from the store (even though they state emails are responded to within 24-48 hours). Complete fraudsters who clearly have no intention of sending anything. Have requested cancellation of order now and my money back. Disgusting service.

Never received my order never got a response

Normally I double check sites before buying for this reason. But because they claim to based in QLD I thought it would be ok not to check. I placed a large order in September and received only order confirmation. Website states that it takes between 3-14 working days for packages to be delivered.... Nearly 4 weeks later I still haven't even received an update about shipping let alone tracking information. I have raised a dispute with PayPal and my bank and will hopefully get my money back. As the seller definitely doesn't respond to any attempts to contact them.

I had to lodge a chargeback with my bank as my goods have not been dispatched and no response via emails or social media. Super disappointing

My items finally arrived after 6 weeks and emails stating I would contact the accc. To be fair the items were correct. The main issue I have other than tardiness is they passed my details to a Chinese scamming site sending me an item. I quickly looked up the Chinese company and it was a well known scam. I contacted DBB informing them that I believed they had passed on/sold my details. I didn't get a reply but so far no attempt has been made to access my account. Luckily I only pay online with an account I keep limited funds in. Buyer beware!

I had to give them at least a star to write a review. Please don’t order a thing, you’ll never get it and no reply from emails either. I made the mistake of placing an order on August 29th 2023 and I’m hoping to help someone else not to go through the trouble and loss of money. Good thing I didn’t try ordering too much. I ordered a product that was worth $250 and they never replied to me or shipped it so I emailed them saying I want to cancel because I just want my money back. They still haven't replied back...

Up to 14 day processing time for items in stock not clearly stated - made an order for an event and then when it didn't show up contacted them to investigate. They said they had submitted a refund, and I would receive it in a few business days. So I purchase the products elsewhere. Then they fail to give the refund they said I would get, instead sending out the products. They stop responding to my emails. I don't need multiple white foundations. I have attempted to contact them 7 or 8 times. Finally issued a charge dispute with my bank.

Update: They also randomly charged my card more than two months later when I didn't authorise any transactions. It put my account into overdraft. I have had to cancel my card and will need to wait up to 120 days to get the money back.

Terrible service and it is a scam. I am $103 out of pocket and now am being ignored when following up on my refund. Do not use this service. I have been told that they cannot give me an ETA of when to expect my refund and now they are ignoring all my communication. Con artists. Stay well clear of this business.

I have been waiting for my products since January and paid express shipping, countless emails unanswered. I am beyond angry and upset as I spent a lot of money. This is disgusting and they’re absolute scammers.

I ordered two items around Easter and was notified at checkout that there’s a 2 week delay in processing due to moving warehouses which would have been fine. A month later I ask when my order will ship and get told ‘soon’. A month after that (I ordered April 8th 2023, it’s now June 15th) I requested another update, again I was told soon. This wasn’t satisfactory so I jumped on trustpilot, read the reviews, and the next day (June 16th) I requested a refund and was told that my request would be passed to the financial team to be processed, I asked for a timeframe for this and got no response. Today (June 23rd 2023) guess what showed up at my door? My order that I was not notified was shipping at all. Am I pleased I got it? Sure. Would I do business with DBB again? Unlikely. This is absolutely no way to run a business which is a shame because DBB was great when it first opened. Seems like requesting a refund and threatening to go to VCAT if you don’t get it is the only way to get the stuff you’ve already paid for. Be better Discount Beauty Boutique.

SCAMMERS! after waiting almost 3 months for my order and making excuses that they are moving warehouses I received only one item from my purchase. I contacted on several occasion only to inform me that my item was sent in full. I contacted Australia post to confirm the weight of the tracking number that was supplied only to find that only one of their items was actually sent and this wasn’t an issue with Australia post. I contacted PayPal to recoup my money and escalated the issue with PayPal. They only responded once saying we will get back to you shortly and have heard nothing back.

I made a order March 2021, which never got sent/no tracking email and they have never replied to the many emails I have sent them. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. THEY WILL SCAM YOU

Ordered over $100 worth of products. Has not arrived after 7 weeks they are no longer responding to my emails. I am in the process of reporting then to trading standards, as we all should. I feel it is my duty to stop this happening to other people. There is clearly something going on here. As we all seem to be owed money.update 17.5.23 they are now ignoring emails acc have sent me an info to report them higher authority to Consumer Affairs Victoria.
