Following the death of my Mother in-law, the executors of her estate decided that until they could decide what to do with her house it would be best in the short term to rent out her modest property.
After almost a decade as a rental, a decision was finally made in 2025 to sell up, but by now ‘careworn’ would be a kind way to describe the interior and especially so the kitchen!
To pay trades to refurb the property would have simply been uneconomical, so I agreed to undertake the work myself with help of suitably skilled and qualified friends.
Kitchens (and bathrooms) sell houses and so the hunt was on for a replacement. We had a defined budget, but didn’t want to install something that looked and felt cheap. We looked at the units on sale in the ‘big sheds’ and even considered second hand - but an internet search threw up DIY Kitchens and as they had a showroom not too far away we decided to go and have a look.
We had expected to be visiting a warehouse with some units on display, but what we saw blew us away. It was a proper set up over two floors and reminded me of walking through a giant show house for kitchens. There was no pressure selling, just assistants willing to point out options that might match our requirements.
We’d imagined that we’d be buying flat packs, but no all the units and cupboards supplied to us arrived fully built - even with doors and drawers. We chose to buy units from the Linton range in Dove Grey along with Artisan Oak worktops. The thickness of the units along with their build quality and overall finish seemed unbeatable at that price - so we placed an order.
Delivery was exactly as arranged and despite each package being very heavy, the lads brought the whole lot into the house without complaint or needing assistance. Nothing was damaged and all the components necessary for the fit were present. We couldn’t praise them highly enough.
The units are very robust and with service voids to the rear - factors which contributed to the ease of their installation. Overall the family are very happy with the outcome. It is a quality kitchen at an affordable price.

We selected Bramley Bespoke, opting for Little Greene Yellow-Pink for the island and Little Greene Harley Green for the primary kitchen cabinetry.
The kitchen is exceptional quality, and I particularly appreciate the coffee pantry we created. Our pantry uses a mid-sized unit positioned atop 1000mm drawers, which feature a hidden internal drawer for cutlery, complemented by the DIY kitchens cutlery tray.
Our neighbour recommended we order our kitchen from DIY kitchens then my amazing husband, Todd installed it (he's not a professional, but owns a nail gun and is logical).
Other kitchens we were quoted with solid wood doors and bespoke colours were £30k more than this one. So much appreciated, we love it!!

I purchased a kitchen from DIY Kitchens and found the quality to be average, with no major issues with the product itself.
However, I experienced difficulties when dealing with replacement items, and the customer service felt quite basic. While issues were eventually addressed, the after-sales support and communication were not as smooth or responsive as I had expected.
Overall, the kitchen is decent, but the replacement process and customer service could be improved.

Would 1000% recommended DIY kitchens. The online tool to help you design your own kitchen is amazing. We ordered samples choose what we wanted then went ahead and ordered. We didn’t visit a show room. Our kitchen is everything we dreamed of. The price, quality and service from DIY kitchens is outstanding.

★★★★★ Outstanding quality, exceptional value and first-class service
We couldn’t be happier with our experience with DIY Kitchens. From the initial design process through to delivery and installation, everything was seamless, professional and incredibly well organised.
The quality of the kitchen has genuinely exceeded our expectations. The cabinetry is exceptionally well made, the finishes are flawless, and every component feels premium. We chose the Bramley range with Monkey Puzzle doors, a solid surface worktop and a bespoke layout, and the end result has completely transformed our home. Everyone who visits comments on how impressive it looks.
What really sets DIY Kitchens apart is the combination of outstanding quality and incredible value. We compared numerous kitchen suppliers before making our decision, and nothing came close in terms of specification, flexibility or price. Being able to configure every cabinet exactly as we wanted meant we achieved a truly bespoke kitchen without paying bespoke prices.
The practical features have made everyday living so much easier too. The tall larder provides fantastic storage, the pull-out bin has been a surprisingly brilliant addition, the waist-height ovens are incredibly practical, and the large island has become the heart of our home for cooking, entertaining and family life.
Communication throughout was excellent, delivery was exactly as promised, and every item arrived extremely well packaged and in perfect condition.
If you’re considering a new kitchen, we genuinely wouldn’t hesitate to recommend DIY Kitchens. The quality rivals kitchens costing significantly more, and the finished result has exceeded every expectation. It has become our favourite room in the house, and choosing DIY Kitchens was one of the best decisions we made during our renovation.
Five stars without hesitation.

I was in such a quandary over which kitchen company to use. I got quotes from all of them, and I was completely confused about what I was actually getting for the kitchen, what the quality was, and how to deal with all sorts of different pressurised selling from other companies. I just came across DIY Kitchens when I was looking for a better solution, and their excellent Trustpilot reviews instantly gave me the confidence to look further. What really helped clear up the confusion was that DIY Kitchens provided samples so you knew exactly what you were getting beforehand. By picking DIY Kitchens, I made a massive saving of over £15,000. I spent a total of £7,500, which included both the kitchen and the installation. This was an incredible saving against Wickes, who wanted to charge me £21,000 for visually the same kitchen layout but at a much poorer quality.
I have to say I am extremely impressed with the overall quality. The kitchen units arrived as solid, fully glued rigid structures, which is fantastic for a standard fit. However, what I particularly love is that DIY Kitchens gives you the flexibility to choose a dry-assembled option instead of a glued rigid carcass. This proved to be a total game-changer for my renovation because it meant I could easily deconstruct and adapt the units on-site. Using this option, I was able to successfully modify one of their standard 1,000mm base units into a bespoke vanity unit for my downstairs toilet, so my downstairs tied in beautifully, making my small house look much bigger with additional storage space!
Beyond that brilliant design flexibility, the daily durability of the materials is exceptional. The cabinet doors have a reassuring weight to them, the hinges are incredibly robust, and the drawers are seamlessly smooth when opening and closing. Even in the cupboards that get opened constantly, none of the internal shelves has bent or warped a single millimetre under the weight of my tins and boxes. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for premium, heavy-duty durability without the luxury showroom price tag… and I have!

Love my new Luca Kitchen. It’s a fabulous, quality kitchen and it came at a fraction of the price quoted by other kitchen retailers. The DIY Kitchens customer service team were really helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they made sure I hadn’t made any errors in my plan. They have a huge number of kitchens on display at their showroom which gave me some great ideas for mine.

Great experience buying our kitchen from DIY Kitchens. The planner was a little tricky to understand at times, but the helpline was great and the staff responsive.
The kitchen is exactly as we imagined thanks to the detailed CGI.
The delivery window is quite wide so planning time off work or being available to take the delivery was difficult, but overall was smooth and hassle free. One door was damaged on arrival, but it was very quickly rectified and we were sent a new door immediately.
We've ordered multiple times now, adding additional units as required and every time it has been easy and efficient.
Would highly recommend.

Wow! A fabulous site and definitely the best kitchen display place we’ve been to. A 2 hour drive for us was well worth it!

Amazing showrooms (we visited both) with so many kitchens to view. Easy to order ourselves and adjust things as needed. Delivery was smooth and any issues were quickly rectified. Really pleased with the quality of the kitchen - our builder was so impressed he's ordered a DIY kitchen for himself too!

I love my DIY kitchen! We purchased the Sienna/Palazzo kitchen looks stunning and very stylish! The quartz worktop that chosen looks great against the Cashmere & Sepia doors and we also made good use of the space with a selection of different units and the internal bin unit is a real game changer and great for food prep workflow. Having our oven at waist height is a real back saver too and our island/breakfast bar is perfectly positioned to serve up and enjoy a meal. We are delighted with the end result and the tall larder gives so much convenient storage space.

DIY Kitchens have been fantastic. I do not usually take the time to write reviews, but they have been exceptional in so many ways.
I also got a quote from WREN and had insistent sales people wanting to push their design onto me without really listening to my needs... and so I was initially draw to DIY Kitchens because it gave me the time to play with different ideas in the planner tool (yes, a little clunky at first, but easy to use once you understood how it works). Visiting the Whitney showroom was really useful to get further ideas (like the rounded corner unit) and reassure me about the quality of the products, and the staff were warm and welcoming.
And the customer service team (and after sales team) are invaluable, answering questions and sense-checking the order. Although the replies are not immediate, they are always thorough.
You need to plan in advance because delivery will take time, but that team was also friendly and easy to work with.
And my fitters were blown away with how much better the kitchen was to install compared with high street competitors.
... and of course the price can't be beaten (though its difficult to make a like for like comparison because the range of colours and unit combinations are not matched elsewhere. It has meant I could afford the high quality finish I was after and plan to enjoy using the kitchen for many years to come.
I just hope DIY Kitchens do not change your business model - you offer a product not matched in the field.

The Best Things Come...
It probably sounds corny but it's not just a kitchen (it's a DIY kitchen!). We waited over four years for this and (even though it's gorgeous) it represents so much more than just a kitchen. It's... taken the load off.
When we moved in here, we put up with an old ruined kitchen with just one electric socket, a broken dishwasher and extractor fan, little lighting and no bin drawer (first world problems, I know). But daily I would be swapping plugs, manually pulling bins out (dog essential), hand washing everything and bemoaning my tired, broken kitchen. A chasm where the dishwasher was, housed dirty recycling tubs. And rats were getting in 😵😵💫😩
In getting the kitchen right, I did 25 designs, and employed a lot of patience while we sorted the finance. I ordered sample paints and tested them together. Now... I'm so glad that the ideas were able to formulate and develop.
We got other quotes. They were at least double the price, for a bog-standard kitchen. Not one with the colour options and ergonomic design features that we have. We live in an art deco-era bungalow so the curved units mimic the hall walls leading into the kitchen. The colours (Pink Yellow and Garden from Little Greene) I chose, because we have this great view and I wanted to bring nature's colours inside, as well as out. I found the perfect tiles on Marketplace and then a matching paint for the woodwork in Oak Apple - also from Little Greene.
In the time since we moved here, my daughter has been diagnosed Coeliac - she must avoid all wheat, rye and barley. She now has her own section of the kitchen and carousel cupboard making it easier to avoid cross-contamination.
I'm glad a few months have passed and it feels more real and normal to live like this. To begin with it just felt like a dream. I didn't want to touch anything! So surreal.
We really, really love it. It has made me so happy, and has been an enriching, creative opportunity. The kids love it, our friends love it. Even the dog loves it! Thank you so much for my dream kitchen and giving me little pockets of my life back! (as I swish the bin back into its housing...🥰 giving Julie Andrews🤣).

This is the 2nd kitchen we have purchased from DIY Kitchens. The 1st was 11 years old before we moved and it was still rock solid. The price was comparable to the main chains, but the quality is definitely better. There was so many choices and styles, if we need to do another kitchen in the future it will be from DIY Kitchens. The showroom in South Kirkby is well worth the day trip as it helped us decide on the final design and cabinet style. The nice cold drinks, snacks and coffees were an added bonus.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience with DIY Kitchens. From the very beginning, it was clear that the quality of the kitchen was exceptional. The doors, units, feel incredibly solid, well-made, and premium – easily on par with, or better than, many of the big-name kitchen suppliers. The level of customisation available meant we could design exactly what we wanted rather than compromise on standard options, and the end result is truly our dream kitchen, including a hidden door leading to the pantry and a breakfast cupboard that we dreamed of from day 1.
One of the things that really stood out was the excellent planning and installation guidance provided. The detailed guides made the whole process much easier to manage, and whenever we had questions, the online support resources and customer service teams were always helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. The delivery team also deserves special recognition – they were punctual, courteous, and exceptionally organised, making what could have been a stressful day completely straightforward.
We chose the Sienna True Handleless Cashmere Kitchen, complemented by a slate-coloured splashback and a white marble-effect quartz worktop. The finished result exceeded our expectations and has completely transformed our home. The kitchen is now the true heart of the house, and we can’t wait to enjoy hosting family and friends there for many years to come.
We first heard about DIY Kitchens through google search. Further looking into the company and online reviews, which consistently praised the quality and value for money, we visited the showroom and were sold! After comparing quotes from several suppliers, including Wren, the difference was remarkable. We were quoted over £30,000 elsewhere for a similar kitchen, yet with DIY Kitchens we achieved a higher-quality finish, chose better appliances, and still saved more than £13,000. The value for money is outstanding.
Overall, we would highly recommend DIY Kitchens to anyone looking for a premium-quality kitchen without paying showroom prices. The product quality, customer support, delivery service, and flexibility of design exceeded our expectations, and we are absolutely delighted with the finished result.

We have made 4 orders for kitchens now for various properties. This time was my own house, as usual the delivery drives were great, so helpful and accommodating. A couple of items were wrong/ missing but just one message to customer service and they were arranged and sent out promptly.
The ladies and gentlemen I’ve spoken to in the phone at DIY have always been super polite and friendly.
The quality of the kitchens is impeccable. All came fully built and I went for the Helmsley range and the paint quality and finish on mine was perfect. My fitter commented about how brilliant the quality is and for 1/3 of the price alternative companies wanted to charge me.
Thank you, I have the dream kitchen that I’ve always dreamed of.

We decided to try DIY Kitchens after receiving a quote from a local kitchen company that was much higher than we had expected. We needed to try someone else so we used an independent designer. Once we had finished our design, all we had to do was send it to DIY Kitchens. They quickly provided a complete list of everything we needed, along with a very competitive price. Ordering and payment were both simple, and our kitchen was delivered exactly when promised. We were given the choice of delivery by either a small van or a large lorry, which was helpful. The delivery drivers were excellent and unloaded all the units into our garage. Unfortunately, 3 units were damaged in transit. However, one phone call to DIY Kitchens was all it took to arrange replacements. The new units were dispatched immediately and arrived very quickly. Our kitchen fitter was able to repair the damaged units, so we no longer needed the replacements. When I contacted DIY Kitchens to ask whether they wanted the replacement units returned, they told us to keep them. Rather than let them go to waste, we donated them free of charge to a local kitchen fitter for use in his workshop. Our kitchen fitter was extremely impressed with the quality of both the carcasses and the doors, commenting that they were exceptionally well made. By choosing DIY Kitchens and arranging our own fitter, we estimate that we saved around £10k compared with using a local kitchen company. Thank you, DIY Kitchens, for providing excellent products, outstanding customer service, and a hassle-free experience from start to finish.

Deliver on promises. Failed to deliver a re-ordered element despite it being listed on the delivery note. (Not on van) Has delayed our schedule and cost us more money. After sales service is next to useless.
