Fabulous place
Fantastic garden centre with wonderful restaurant serving gorgeous home cooked and home baked food and smashing coffees, along with scrummy cakes and all with lovely genuine customer care from really nice staff. Great plants, great garden furniture of exceptional quality, friendly helpful advice on plants - felt very valued as a customer. Had a great shopping day.
Excellent Service
Much better service than previous…
Much better service than previous visits and seemed far more organised. Getting customers though the till and barista area more efficiently
Lovely garden centre especially for…
Lovely garden centre especially for taking our grandson who's only 1 years old as the soft play area is perfect for him, our only concern was that we were asked to leave the play area after one hour even though it was not busy and ee hadn't finish our meal so we had to buy another ticket. I can understand time limits when it's busy plus when we bought both tickets we weren't told of the time limit.
Some criticisms
I visited Heighleygate this morning. Only one person serving in the coffee bar, he was very good but was definitely in need of assistance. We waited 15 minutes to be served. I went to the information desk to suggest he should have some help. Your manager informed me that someone had called in sick that morning. When I said that surely there was someone available, no was the reply. I even suggested that perhaps he could assist even just taking the orders and cash! That fell on stoney ground.
It is not the only criticism I can make. There are repeated announcements which are not very clear but very loud, I and my friends find them very intrusive when chatting over coffee.
The manager has also given me wrong information about caring for my rhododendron.
It is also time the notice saying “New butcher arriving soon” it has been in situ for months!
I have shopped at this Garden Centre since its inception many many years ago (50?) but I am seriously thinking of going elsewhere.
Regards Barbara Storey

My husband bought a coat ,we paid @ checkout as we walked out am alarm went off . I asked the woman @ the till if the coat was alarmed ,she said no . When my husband put the coat on at home later that day there was an alarm on the coat . We then had to get snips to cut alarm off . She hadnt looked !

Wild bird food shortage
I wanted to buy wild bird food as I was getting really low on supplies and the birds were feeding more than usual because of the cold weather. Unfortunately, when I got there, there was literally only a few bags of seed left. No fat balls or other type of high protein bird food at all. I actually thought this branch of Dobbies was closing their department down which they might well be as I haven’t been back.

Worth A Visit
Good for plants and gifts staff friendly. The price in the restaurant is a bit on the pricey side and could do with a bit more choice. The Sunday roast was a let down on the day we visited

Good reductions on christmas items
Good reductions on christmas items. I would have given 5 stars but as always very long queues at both the restaurant and coffee shop
Disappointing cafe visit
Hot chocolate drink seemed to be made with water not milk and was lukewarm. Very limited choice of speciality tea available. Scones overpriced, dry and crumbly.

We visited cafe on cold wet day
We visited cafe on cold wet day, to be greeted by warm and pleasant surroundings, good coffee, and a scone.
Excellent helpful staff
The staff are always extremely helpful and pleasant. However, everyday stock, such as milk and bread, is not always available in the Waitrose/Dobbies shop.
Great place to chill.
Always a great place to visit & maybe the odd purchase here & there 🤣👍
Great atmosphere
Great atmosphere, staff Great, could do with more staff at the plants section, great choice
Dirty, dark toilets. Expensive plants
The toilets need to be revamped as they are dark and always seem to need cleaning. Toilet roll everywhere and dirty/grubby sinks. We like the selection of goods and the plants etc but you have become very expensive.

The restaurant service is appalling
The restaurant service is appalling, long waits and food cold when it finally arrives. Not an isolated incident have had problems before and have informed you on previous occasions.

A good day out.
Lot of updating done since my last visit (1 year ago +) and looks like more to come. Fewer concessions at the moment but still ones I like to shop in - Cotton Traders, The Works, Pavers. Restaurant still good to eat in and I now qualify for over 60s midweek lunch offer! General garden centre items seemed more competitive than on previous visits, so win win all round!
