Mind-blowingly awful company
My Stoves cooker had a problem, a constant alarm and 2 of the 5 rings not working. Phoned Stoves for a repair and they suggested setting up 6 month insurance with Domestic and General and told me it would be cheaper than a one off repair and that I would have a date for fixing it texted to me within 48 hours if I did so. I set up the direct debit; there was no contact from them within a week so chased. Several times. Eventually had a text sent to me after 26 days with a date- which was for 49 days after my initial contact. This morning I had a letter through the post telling me 'the attending engineer has advised that my cooker can't be repaired', and they have cancelled my plan. Which is amazing as they haven't been to see it yet, the appointment is for next Friday. They told me I will get my direct debit returned, I'll believe it when I see it. This is a completely inept company.
My oven went bang in December 2022
My oven went bang in December 2022. I placed three separate repairs with D&G and each time I would receive notifications on my phone that the job request had been closed. I eventually managed to speak to an agent who sent out an engineer on 19/12/22. The engineer agreed that the oven enamel was damaged beyond repair and as such the oven would require replacement. I then heard nothing from D&G until I chased them up on 23/01/23 only to find they had again closed the job! I placed a complaint and was told someone would contact me within 24 hours however 8 days passed and I received no contact at all. I again called D&G and was now informed that before they would consider repair or replacement I now had to source a professional oven cleaner at my own expense to clean the damaged enamel on the inside of the oven!...This company is a joke..poor communications, unable to get through on the phone and just a shocking service..I'm still trying to get the matter resolved with them. I have now sourced an oven cleaning company to come out only to tell me that they cant fix or clean the oven because the enamel is damaged. I now have to go back to D&G to start the process all over again..If this is not resolved by mid Feb I will just cancel my subscriptions. Avoid..avoid..avoid D&G! very frustrating.
Charging for a canceled insurance
They sold an insurance related to a washing machine. Because the washing machine couldn't be fixed, they canceled the insurance. Despite of the canceling they still collected from my account the money related to the insurance. And now I have to ask my bank to revert the payment! what a bunch of con's!!
Great Service
Great Service. Incredibly fast and reassuring friendly and very polite/professional team. I booked online - was very easy- then needed to talk to customer service. ( next available booking was next day. Engineer was very polite, helpfull and good at his job )
AVOID
I dont write reviews but that one needs to be mentioned: Terrible customer service. All I need is phone screen replaced. Been waiting since november 2022 although they took the access payment of £25 for an inexplicable reason the repair was cancelled. Now I have a new booking will see how this will end up. The customer service representatives MUST be changed absolutely clueless, you can hear burping and shouting people on the background as well. Even forgot to greet me as a customer for goodbye. I can't remember if I had so bad customer experience ever before. Definitely will cancel my insurance policy and Argos should reconsider their insurance partner based on so many unhappy customers.
NO HELP AFTER 4 WEEKS
I have been waiting 4 weeks to have my washing machine fixed which is 3 years old under extended warranty with Domestic and General. This week alone I have made over 20 phone calls to them and also Fisher and Paykel and still no help or direction
AVOIDDDD
AVOIDDDD
I have insurance with the company and my washer dryer machine broken down. It was a keep repeating issue and the leaking machine ruined my flooring. Plus I am still waiting to hear from the company 2.5 weeks to hear whether are they going to replace my machine or repair it. I constantly on the phone to them and mention them I had my surgery 4 weeks ago and than I should not eb carrying my washing ups between my home and the local laundry. NO RESPONSE still waiting to hear for last 2.5 weeks .... Just warning you to not to get trap.
Avoid!
Avoid!
Mis-sold insurance (told it was covered for things it wasn't). I cancelled it the same day, and have been waiting for a refund for 7 weeks! I've called 4 times and each time they tell me their accounts team have blocked it and they will try again. Absolutely appalling customer service. One employee wouldn't even let me explain the issue, as soon as I started talking she shouted over me from a script! Like literally shouting over the top when I was trying to explain how many times I had called and what was happening... outrageous.
Long waits
Booked a washer dryer in for repair. I explained we are a large family and we do a wash load every single day, and sometimes two.
The soonest we could get booked in was for 5 days time.
Was then given the hard sale of insurance for our fridge...lol. not a chance. Imagine having no fridge for 5 days. And then would most probably need to wait for parts after that.
Take my money and do very little.
The customer team are also hard to understand, and vice versa.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Unless you enjoying psychosis inducing levels of non-existent customer service. You'll be told that the service it outsourced to a contractor, the contractor will tell you to call Dom&Gen and back and forth you'll go. Their WhatsApp system will wish a good day and do absolutely nothing to help. You'll be given telephone number after telephone number after telephone number. All of which start with a minute long pointless message about not leaving fridges in a garage (??) before the 20th century telephone directory of option after option after option, of course there's the 30 minute wait time, then give your details, again, be passed to someone else, give your details again, be passed to someone else again, give your details (whilst your will to live disappears)...then for the finale...our systems are down...your appointment isn't actually available for the DAY THEY ALREADY CONFIRMED. I've met toddlers who could run a better service with two tins and a piece of string. Unless you're in the market for high blood pressure and a wish to finally lose your temper after not doing so since school, avoid avoid avoid.
Average wait time for a repair is 11-13…
Average wait time for a repair is 11-13 days. Complained got appointment for 2 days later and that did not happen. Complained told them we cannot live without a washing machine we have had insured for 7 years and I was buying a new one. Current on hold to a guy not located in the UK who is telling me I have breached my contract. Error yeah keep dreaming. All our 3 policies getting cancelled. Cheaper to buy a new product on finance than use this shower of s##t of a company.
Contacting D & G is a frightening experience. Avoid at all costs.
D & G handle product registration for various German made kitchen appliances. When we phoned them to register six new appliances our call generated the most intense hard sell from their representative to extend the warranty/insure these products. The pressure was immense. She was obviously working on commission. In the end my partner had to firmly tell her to “go away”. We have since read the reviews on this company. What a great escape we have just had!

Paid my cover for 10 years called to arrange a visit when i eventually got a booking it was between 7.15am and 10.15 am got a text at 10.12 am to say they where not coming after i had booked a day off they then rearranged it for the following week 7.15 am to 6 pm not holding my breath

Dishwasher is having loads of f error codes engineer comes and fixes then when has left another one apairs
What a waste of time
No communication
I had a washing machine for over 3 years which was covered covered by D+G. I cancelled their cover on the 22/12/2022. I also cancelled my direct debit the day after
Since then I have had 2 phone calls and numerous text / email messages asking why my direct debit has been cancelled and what are my reasons for this
I can’t believe how I am being hounded for something that is don’t have any more
There is obviously NO communication in this company
I am just luck I cancelled my direct debit
To make it worse this company does not accept E mail contact and their website is very un user friendly unless of course you want to book a repair or take out a new cover plan
Will Never Use Domestic & General waste of Money
Took out insurance on my Hotpoint freezer and my Beko washing machine.
Freezer started playing up 6 months ago engineer just took it outside and basically used water to get rid of excessive ice. 4 weeks later engineer back to take another luck as still having too much ice in freezer and freezer making banging noise. Engineer says needs new motherboard so he Ordered a new motherboard and another engineer came back to fit it,guess what 4 weeks later still have excess ice in freezer engineer tells me I need to defrost freezer properly and leave it for 24 to 48hrs so freezer fully defrosted.
Sorry but if no ice inside freezer it's defrosted no mater what's done to freezer it develops loads of ice in the freezer.
So basically wasted over £500 in payments to Domestic and general so I've had to cancel insurance and I'm going to buy a new freezer as only way to sort freezer.
I will never use Domestic & General insurance again and advise others not to take it out either.
Would give zero if I could
Would give zero if I could. Washer/dryer broke down 17th November, still not fixed. So many phone calls chasing them, chasing Hoover, chasing Hoover agents. Now telling me 13th January for engineer. Terrible service. Hundreds of pounds spent on laundry plus their premium £198. Will not be renewing
I have a contract with Domestic &…
I have a contract with Domestic & General for boiler repair and service. My boiler is due for service , i was told to book for an appointment with Glowwarm, who i understand has been subcontracted to do the job. Made the booking ,however they cancel it one day before the appointed date. This happen four times.they are abosuletly unreliable and don't deliver on their promise. Keepaway from them. they are only good at taking your money.
No problem with engineer BUT ...
Engineer was good, no problem there but had no oven over Christmas as had to wait 12 days for someone to come out. D&G are a nightmare to get hold of even with the callback facility, the agent tried her best to get a visit pre Christmas but wasn’t holding my breath. I do not take out D&G insurance anymore but had no choice on this occasion as cooker only a few weeks old. Beyond me how they get a 4 star rating!
When is insurance not insurance
When is insurance not insurance ? …when the policy is held with Domestic and general.
I held a policy to cover a range cooker for over 12 months. Domestic and General happy took my monthly payments with the promise of repair or replace if the cooker failed.
The cooker failed , a claim was made .. apparently they can’t repair and won’t replace … they cancelled the policy and offering a refund. !!
They will not honour the terms and conditions stated in the policy.
In my experience Domestic and General trade under false promises and operated a broken business model.
