One if the worst rental experiences
One if the worst rental experiences. Dishonest and rude staff member. Formal complaint followed. Go elsewhere as they are cheap for a reason! They have a track record of forcing you to take up their insurance cover, even if you have alternative. They will say either your credit card is invalid or the policy Inadequate. This is down to one particular staff member who clearly just wants his insurance commission!

One of the worst car hire experiences I’ve had
My complaint to Drivalia has confirmed exactly why I would never use them again.
I arrived at Glasgow Airport having already purchased separate rental car insurance. I chose the standard option of providing a £1,500 refundable deposit rather than purchasing Drivalia’s additional cover.
I presented the Saudi Arabian credit card I was specifically asked to provide as proof of my country of residence. Drivalia’s system would not accept the card for the deposit. Rather than offering any alternative solution, I was told my only options were to pay an additional £280 or £350 for their insurance products.
When I asked to cancel the rental and receive a refund so I could hire elsewhere, I was told the booking was non-refundable. As a solo female traveller with luggage at Glasgow Airport, I was left with little practical choice but to pay the additional £280.
What is particularly frustrating is that Drivalia was perfectly capable of taking payment for the £280 charge using a different card, yet no flexibility whatsoever was shown regarding the deposit.
I submitted a formal complaint explaining that I was willing to pay the deposit and that the issue was with the payment processing, not my refusal to comply with the rental conditions. Their response simply stated that three attempts had been made to take the deposit, that the £280 package was non-refundable because I had “benefitted” from it, and that prepaid bookings are non-refundable.
At no point did they address the actual complaint or explain why no reasonable alternative was offered.
The issue is not the car. The issue is the customer service, lack of flexibility, and apparent pressure to purchase expensive additional cover. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Drivalia Glasgow Airport.
As an update I’ve received a really unprofessional and rude response from the branch manager who is one of the guys I dealt with that same day, who was disinterred and rude. How are you meant to complain to this company when your complaint goes to the same guy who dismissed you in the first place, there should be a customer services team dealing with this
