Absolutely do not bother

Absolutely do not bother. I tried dying some curtains navy blue. Used twice the amount of dye recommended for twice the amount of time and all it did was make the lining look like it had been in a darks wash. Didn’t change the colour at all. Previously used this brand and bottle green changed a plain fabric to what could be described as mint at very best. Only use if you want a watercolour version of the colour not the actual colour on the packet.

If only I had read the Trustpilot reviews…

If only I had read the one star reviews before using this product. In the past I have had great success with Dylon dyes and also with their customer services. This time I wanted to refresh a pair of black jeans so used the Dylon Washing Machine Fabric Dye Pods in Intense Black. I followed all the instructions for getting rid of excess dye - ran an empty cycle twice, once with detergent at 40oC and once with detergent and a cup of bleach at 40oC and once with detergent at 95oC. I have just run a light cycle and my bedding has come out stained with black marks. I am bitterly disappointed and also worried about how long I will only be able to do dark washes in my machine.

Ruins your washing machine

After following the instructions with care I have a blazer that is looking fresh and new with its revived black colour. However I now have stained white bedding 🤬 I have used the washing machine with dark colours for two weeks just to make sure all dye has gone and also used a deep clean in the washing machine. Just washed white bedding and a jumper only for them to come out with black stains. Will I ever be able to wash white clothes with confidence?? So disappointed!!!

Saved me throwing away a ruined £270 top

I experienced the absolute nightmare that was trying to remove a stain from a £270 Stone Island petrol blue coloured sweatshirt with Vanish Oxi Action where the Oxi removed the small food stain … while replacing this with around 40-50 separate small bleach stains all over the sweatshirt.

With nothing to lose - instead of just throwing the sweatshirt out - I decided to buy a Navy Blue Dylon washing machine pod and see if it could rectify things and cannot believe how well it went.

I followed every step of the process as instructed and now have a beautiful navy blue sweatshirt which has covered the petrol blue and managed to dye over all of the bleach spots. I also have a clean washing machine due to the instructions given.

This was my first time of using Dylon Dye pods and had I not been left with no other choice I most likely would not have used it due to all of the bad reviews here on Trustpilot but am glad I took the leap of faith.

For a man who lives on his own and not used to having to do such things with clothes I cannot believe how well it worked and I would without a doubt buy Dylon pods again for dyeing clothes.

That said, I won’t EVER be trusting Vanish Oxi Action to remove any stains from clothing ever again but I’m just glad Dylon was around to help where Vanish made things much much worse.

Dylon.co.uk Dyes not fit for purpose.

When you order When I order on Dylon.co.uk, Pre-Dye, as well as navy blue machine dye, the Pre-Dye does not appear on their associated The Quilted Bear platform checkout that the Dylon.co.uk platform pushes their shopping cart to, to take payment.
Having the 2nd platform to take payment, I found highly suspicious, so I purchased via Amazon.co.uk instead.

Following their instructions supplied, the Pre Wash made little to no difference and I ended up having to resort to using 1:3 domestic bleach:water instead.

Once bleached, following Dylon's instructions carefully, I applied their navy blue dye in a machine wash to my now bleached denim jacket, but on completion, the jacket was purple and not the deep navy blue I had been hoping for.

Apart from out of pocket for these two items, I now have a jacket that will need replacing, as purple is not my colour.

Very poor product, not matched to colour

Ocean blue came out lilac 🤦🏼‍♀️ Followed instructions to every word, second, temperature, number of stirs. An hour of my time wasted and a garment that can still be used but now the dog will be called a girl 🤣

Read the other reviews and make your own mind up. Very poor product

EDIT/UPDATE
The colour washed out leaving the dog hoody back to its original colour with blue blotches. The only thing that actually dyed was the washing label.

Such a poor quality product, waste of money.

Brilliant product

Bought myself a pair of stretched denim trousers from M & S but on the second day decided to wash some paintwork using flash with bleach. Big mistake. Got a few splashes on them. So Decided to use a Dylon Pod in the washing machine . A year ago I wouldn’t have known how to use the machine let alone do some dyeing. Followed the instructions to the letter & now I’m a proud owner of a stain free pair of trousers.
Absolutely brilliant product. No mess .Will definitely use again. Thank you.

Dylon pods gone wrong

Should be minus actually.
I used the Dylon pods as they are advertised on the TV to restore colour. Instead it took the colour off my khaki jeans and my beige coloured skirt and completely ruined them.
When I complained to Dylon and sent them photos they just said I had not used a cotton wash, but nowhere on the packet of pods does it say to use a cotton wash????
I am now going to write to Trading Standards as they should not be allowed to advertise this on TV if it does not work.
DO NOT USE THESE PODS.

dye of fabrics is not easy

dye of fabrics is not easy, specially faded items cannot be restored, better use pre-dye before or purchase white items to start with.
grey, olive and black dye is more easy for better results, getting blue specs is due to uneven distribution of the powder in modern washing machines, I had mixed results for clothing and used extensive bleach and dye cycles to get the wanted result, dye of leather shoes is more satisfying
advice to dylon, produce liquid pods to get rid of these uneven spots.

Dylon is not as it used to be

Dylon is not as it used to be. I’ve used it for years, always been happy. The last 3 pods I’ve bought have simply not done the job. Followed the instructions to the letter, weighed fabric (all under the recommended weight), colour just does not take. Perhaps the formula has changed but I have to agree with the majority 1star reviews. Will buy an alternative next time as this stuff isn’t cheap.

Highly recommended

Gave one of the in washing machine pods a try, didn’t have much hope for the results but to my surprise they have perfectly dyed the black jeans back to black.

I followed the instructions on the package and can genuinely say that the results were perfect.

FYI use the correct amount of dye for your project, weight of your clothes is important, just weigh them first, I washed on the cotton setting and turned up to 60 degrees

Have just ordered some more

Thank you for bringing life back into some expensive pair of jeans

Poor customer service

Contacted Dylon after the washing machine pod dye that I used, left a large streak of dye darker than the rest of the fabric. I have used the same dye product previously on a duvet cover exactly the same and wanted my other duvet cover the same. I haven’t had a problem previously however their response was that it was a fault with the cotton content of the fabric, the weight of the fabric etc etc. basically excuses. Won’t use them again!

Left a nasty stain all over my washing machine

Dylon fabric dyes was designed for a time when washing machines filled with loads of water and the material 'swam' in the water/dye liquid. Nowdays, washing machines use only a very small amount of water which results in a very concentrated solution that tends to splash into the door seal staining it and leaving a residue that's very difficult to get rid of. I realised it was going wrong right at the beginning when the pod bounced up and deposited half the dye right against the door then water splashed up and washed it down into the door seal.

I'm now on my third 'cleaning' wash and having just read up about it all I've realised I'm going to have to manually clean the door seal (right down the bottom where things collect) with bleach then run a hot cycle with bleach.

Also, I've realised that between the cost of the dye and all the hot water washes I've spent more dying the stained sweater than it would have cost to bin it and buy a new one.

Terrible product does NOT work on 100% wool.

I recently used three packets of Dylon in Navy Blue to dye a new wool mans cardigan which was a mustard colour. I washed the cardigan as instructed and left damp. I used three sachets of nylon with 250g of table salt with each packet as instructed that is 750g in total.
I had already emailed Dylon to enquire if I should use 250g for each packet used as the cardigan weighed 700g. Therefore I would need three packets. I did exactly as the instruction said on the packet and stirred throughout for an hour. The cardigan cam out the same as it was before dyeing it. This was a complete waste of time and money and it did NOT work at all of WOOL. I had originally bought a bigger carton but then read that this one was not meant for wool but the smaller packets which I bought from Dunelm were for wool. I had sent TWO emails last week to Dylon to ask if I needed three times the volume of salt as I was using three packets. NO REPLY from them at all. The hand dye cost me £10.95 and £1.80 for salt. I would say to anyone not to use this product for wool as it does not work at all. I await Dylon to contact me. This is a genuine review.

Do not buy Dylon

Do not buy Dylon. It simply doesn't dye. They used to be good, but the machine pods really do not dye or the coverage is poor.
