What Happened?
Heard this garden centre had been taken over and was much improved, so I thought I'd pay a visit. I'm still trying to work out where the improvements are.
The site looked neglected from the moment I arrived. Hose pipes were left across walkways, the patio display area had uneven flooring, timber pallets and stock were scattered around the site, loose pieces of timber had been left on the ground, and weeds were growing throughout the centre. I also noticed horsetail weed at the main entrance, which says a lot about the level of maintenance.
I also found it difficult to identify members of staff. During my visit, I only saw one identifiable member of staff wearing a company uniform, while the other staff I encountered were not in uniform, making it unclear who was available to assist customers.
Given that the centre appears to attract many elderly customers and families with young children, particularly during the summer holidays, I found the overall condition of the site concerning. There appear to be several obvious health and safety hazards that should be addressed as a matter of urgency.
