Worst delivery service I’ve ever had
Ordered an entertainment unit and arranged delivery to city centre. Delivery cost was the most expensive ($90) compared to all items ordered from other shops. And delivery was far and away the worst experience of any delivery I’ve had. Early Settler use Goddards for deliveries and the LG driver refused to drive into building loading bay underground despite building manager assuring him there was plenty of clearance (which there was). There was no where else to park and so they left me with a very heavy piece of furniture in the loading bay. I had to call my partner to leave work and come and help me get it up to my apartment. I’m not a big person and it was a huge struggle to get the unit to the apartment. Would never buy anything from Early Settler that requires delivery. To add insult to injury, the next delivery was from Mainfreight in a bigger truck and they got into the loading area no problem. And got the furniture to the apartment for me. All for a cheaper price.

I will not shop there again
I will not shop there again. Over a week ago, I made my first purchase—an entertainment unit (which hasn’t arrived yet). Yesterday, I went back to buy a small rug. Before paying, I was informed that using a “credit card” would incur a SURCHARGE. Since the amount was small, the extra fee was only 33 cents, so I paid with my credit card.
However, I asked them if this SURCHARGE would apply to larger purchases as well. They told me it was required by the credit card company. I then asked why, during my first purchase, I wasn’t asked what card I would use or informed about the surcharge. At that time, I paid with my UnionPay card because it was convenient, but they didn’t know in advance what card I would use. If I had used a credit card during my first purchase, the surcharge wouldn’t have been charged because they only ADD THE SURCHARGE after confirming that you will use a credit card. This fee is added to the price of the product as part of the total amount rather than being displayed separately on the payment terminal.
They also told me that since the items were already 40% off, only the EFTPOS card were allowed. What kind of logic is this? Furniture usually costs a significant amount. Are customers expected to prepare cash before shopping? Otherwise, they might have to pay substantial surcharges if they use a credit card. Are they negotiating final prices with customers behind the scenes and using SURCHARGE as a bargaining tool???If so, that’s highly inappropriate and it’s unfair for customers.
Is there really a furniture store like this? I’ve lived here for nearly 30 years, and this is the first time I’ve encountered something so unbelievable. Once I pick up my order, I will never shop there again.

Great service by Live Chat agent
I contacted live chat, after standard business hours, and was able to speak with Jess. I needed a bracket that was missing from a ceiling fan I had purchased.
Jess spoke with my local store; who sourced a spare part to be delivered.
Really great service, thanks Jess and Early Settler Geelong 😊

Purchase of sideboard
I recently bought a sideboard from Early Settler. I was very happy with the customer support given by their team. The only criticism I have is that there should be more quality control at the point of manufacture so that the item purchased does not differ greatly from the one displayed in the showroom. In saying that, the Company was very helpful with a satisfactory resolution.

Early Settler Clover Bed - poor quality
I bought the clover bed in King size. After a couple of months, something started leaching through the paint where knots were in the timber grain. It was replaced and the replacement did the exact same thing as well as poor quality bolts which don’t screw in properly and has made the bed very rickety

KACE BENCHES
KACE BENCHES
very poor quality - very sharp and poorly finished metal. I now find after owning them for a short period the the ends have changed colour and are not the same as the rest of the bench. Very disappointed.

If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would. Could not be more unprofessional and uncaring. I ordered a $3k vanity from the store based on the floor model. After a few weeks of waiting, I picked it up from my local store and took it home. Opened it up and it was a different colour top on the vanity. The store did not care. Simply said you can return it for a refund. I live 45 minutes from the store and require 2 people to lift this, meaning I had to find someone else to come and help. I offered suggestions as to ways to resolve the issue, and they didn’t want to know about it, being very rude in the process. I got hold of the regional manager who had the same attitude. All of their communication was done via email, they couldn’t even call me. False advertising and 100% their mistake, and they expect me to fix it. After a lot of back and forth and arguing with the regional manager we ended up at a stage that they would collect it at their cost and I would get my money back (which took a while for the refund to be processed after I had to chase them). One of the worst experiences I have had with a store.

Poor customer and after sale service
We purchased a couple of times from Early Settlers in Adelaide, SA and have found after the last few visits that their service has significantly gone down.
On our last 2 visits, the customer service was really poor with not enough staff available to help customers, and you end up waiting a long time to be helped. On our last visit, we ended up leaving the store without making a purchase and ordering the items we wanted online.
After purchasing the items online, we were advised that the items will take 4-5 weeks to arrive in their Melbourne store, then another 10 days to be delivered to the Adelaide store. We were happy with this timeline.
When the time came for our items to be ready for collection, we contacted the store to confirm if they were ready. Note here that we had to contact Early Settlers and not the other way around.
We were informed that our items were delayed by another 4-5 weeks.
We found this to be very inconvenient with Early Settlers after sale service lacking in not contacting us to inform us of the additional delays.
We requested to cancel our order and to get a refund. Their customer service person told us that someone will contact us to discuss and arrange the refund. Early Settlers have decided to take the easy way out and to not contact us to discuss further, they only refunded our money without contacting us.
We will never purchase from Early Settlers again and would not recommend to anyone else with their poor in store service and after sale service.

Two months for hooks for our house
Two months for hooks for our house. I called because I’ve heard nothing from early settler, no communication about the delay and no correspondence to say ‘it’s still coming’. The customer service person I spoke to told me they sold the item while it was still ‘sailing’. Hoping they come soon!
