Get rid of near porn stuff to become a 5 star site

Their structure makes the playing field for larger sellers and the guy next door to have an equal chance of selling their products. Their fees as of 1-3-2023 are lower than ebay, amazon, bonanza and others. The site is easy to use. They do need more buyers and I think if they got rid of the near porn photos, they would attract a wider audience. They should also get rid of the animal traps. The near porn stuff and animal traps make the site unfriendly and unprofessional. Do better ebid. Otherwise, the site is pleasant to use.

Hi, we do offer adult items but only after a form is submitted accepting adult items will be shown to you. It is a constant battle to police the site and over the years we have grown a large community of users who help us in this respect flagging inappropriate items using the "REPORT" tool on every listing page. There are things that cannot be sold legally which we will always remove but when it comes to moral policing this will always be a grey area, something you don't like might be readily acceptable by someone else. We do try to allow free speech whenever we can as we believe that there the majority should have the biggest say in what we allow to be sold. We shall look into the animal traps you mention.

Ebid is a waste of time and money

Ebid is a waste of time and money. For a while I considered Ebid as an alternative. There are no buyers on Ebid. Many automated page views by bots and automatically generated traffic but NO SALES on Ebid. I bought a PLATINUM LIFETIME subscription, it's a pure waste of money. Stay away from EBID, they're scammers.

Hi, sorry to hear you think we are scammers. We have been operating since 1999 and have had many millions of dollars worth of goods sold by our sellers over these years. We appreciate you may not have had the success you were hoping for, did you take up the option of ensuring your listings passed the tests to allow us to advertise them on Google Shopping and Bing Shopping at no extra cost? Please contact us for a refund if you had a paid account upgrade but we would appreciate you altering your review to remove the word scammer if possible. Thanks.

Complete waste of time for sellers

Complete waste of time for sellers. I paid the lifetime fee of £49.99 nearly 8 years ago and haven't sold a thing! Items I have listed sell like hot cakes on eBay. Don't waste your money, you will just be throwing it away!

Hi, sorry to hear you have not had any joy with eBid. Can we ask what items you were selling and if you had listing constantly live for those 8 years in question? Did you items have details and photos that passed the Google Shopping test and were competitively priced? If you contact our support desk we can take a look for you. We've been operating over 20 years and have millions of satisfied buyers and sellers over this time.

THE BEST online auction alternative in the bizness

Been using Ebid for 12 years now! There is a reason it wins the BEST AWARD year after year! It's a great online site that has enough features to get the job done. It is totally worth buying the Platinum Package (FKA 'Lifetime Package') to save a lot of money in Final Fees. I purchased it my first year and so glad I did. You cannot beat 0%- 2% seller fees, regardless of the sell amount! The best in the online auction biz!

eBid - A Realistic Review Of The Pros & Cons

Buying

Not too big a choice of sellers because there is low public brand awareness of eBid. This is good for buyers because in auctions there is little to no competition from other potential buyers and so there are genuine bargains to be had.

Because of the lack of advertising, you tend to stumble across eBid, rather than have it brought to your attention, and so many sellers choose to use the ‘buy it now’ option and leave their listings up for prolonged periods of time. Some areas of selling across all selling sites have highly dynamic pricing ( ie it changes a lot with trends, fashions, seasons, investment demand etc ) some of the eBid long term fixed price listings can appear very, very, cheap if the seller has neglected to maintain their listings and re-priced following prevailing pricing trends

A major failing is the lack of a basket system, allowing multiple purchases to be paid for together.

The eBid site is in many respects a much better product than eBay because the search engine is as sophisticated as you choose to select, right down to single nation searches and a lot more besides, way better than eBay. The search engine actually does return what you are searching for and the site is not subject to constant change and turmoil.

Selling

As a seller the selling deal is a good one, with the site covering similar selling areas to eBay, the only other site to do this. Selling is way, way cheaper than other selling sites and, as any individual seller allows, Paypal and other money processing systems may be used to buy and Paypal may be used by the seller for all selling proceses. There is no eBid money processing system, and so any delay is by Paypal or the chosen money processor.

Although there is some international presence major players are missing such as Finland, Iceland, Poland, Hungary, Chez Republic, (Ukraine – when back with us), Lituania, China, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan and South Korea. These are all significant selling and buying markets and their lack of presence significantly limits the sales / buying opportunities.

A number of eBay sellers have either wholly transferred to eBid, or parallel list on eBid. However a significant number of eBid sellers are unhappy about the lack of progress in developing the site, especially changing the wholly Americanised catagories

BUT, and this is a Very Big ‘B U T’, the owners of eBid flatly refuse to advertise the site. As such there is exceptionally low public awareness of the brand and exceptionally low sales, to the point that the site does not publish year by year sales or total value of sales for a year. The owners are however keen to publish the number of listings !

Read the forums associated directly to eBid you will see numbers of sellers requesting significant advertising to boost their sales. Don’t be sidetracked by sellers complaining that they are not making any money because they are selling an item too cheaply (usually stamps for a few pence), the usual consequence of pricing too cheaply in a race to the lowest price on the site.

In the meantime you can see the tooth-marks of desperation with entrepreneurs alternatively making their money by selling car stickers to encourage greater site publicity (at one time the demand call was for branded packing tape which in reality is not a very effective method of marketing). Unless the car stickers are at the price where they can be given away by the 10,000’s and have a site address written on the sticker, it is unlikely that 500 or less stickers in the visible public space will make the slightest difference to eBid brand awareness. Far better that a Youtube influencer picks up on the site and heavily promotes it, as it is more likely to get results than any number of stickers on any number of cars

Feedback is an issue for sellers, like other sites. However, eBid, buyers are invited, somehow, to leave comments on Trustpilot (see the other comments here on trust pilot ). The buyer, believes they have left eBid feedback for the seller so does not leave feedback on eBid. This mismatched process also accounts for the high rating of eBid in Trustpilot.

eBid going backwards?

Got my periodical log in or we close your listings today. So logged in. Quite a lot of views but no sales. In the same period with eBay I have had over 100 sales in spite of my prices being higher on eBay - go figure. Are the number of views legit? I would like to see lists of items that have sold on eBid but have never found a way of doing it.
I have been a life member for over 15 years and have over 150 feedback all positive. Sales used to be slow but regular. now none.
I tried contacting eBid to change my username to by eBay username about a year ago. I never got a reply in spite of repeated efforts. I will keep the current listings on eBid but it doesn't compare well to eBay in sales, in research of what is selling or has sold, or customer service.

Wrong item delivered, no resolution

Ordered item and was shipped the wrong item.

Contacted seller who initally responded and then lost interest and has not rectified the sale after four attempts to contact.

Contacted ebid who responded to say "We are not involved in the actual transaction between buyers and sellers."

Take care, you clearly have no rights, limited redress and ebid themselves disassociate themselves from their business.

Edit - in response to ebid's reply...
Yes you did ship me something, but the trick is that should be what I ordered, not some other random box. The reply nicely illustrates the point I'm trying to make in this review.

A welcome alternative to other auction…

A welcome alternative to other auction sites. Easy to list and a friendly place to buy and sell with a good choice of items. Hopefully with extended media exposure buyers and sellers will be increasingly attracted to this more relaxed trading environment.
