Further to my previous review
Further to my previous review. Electric Ireland, having run up an arrear of £190 on my account despite my paying by direct debit have now debited my bank account by that amount now that I have switched to a responsible supplier with a record of customer care. I gave Electric Ireland authority to debit my bank account to cover my bill on a monthly basis. I did not give them authority to clear my arrear which had built up through their mis- management of my payments, in one payment. Had I been a pensioner dependant on benefits I could now be facing real difficulty surviving until my next pension payment. Good riddance Electric Ireland. Thankfully there are responsible suppliers out there.

Doubled my direct debit amount without notice despite what I was already paying covering my bills. Ended up with large credit on account. Two 80 minute phone calls to customer support cut off after being on hold. Ignored 2 written requests to review DD and explain why there was an increase in the first place. Began receiving large bills at irregular intervals. Received bill, received another bill 2 weeks later. 6 weeks later etc rather than every 3 months totally more than I'd previously used in a quarter each time. Zero customer support. Cancelled direct debit and l initiated account transfer to a different supplier. They blocked it without reason. Took 2 further attempts each with a 30 day cooldown to change away from them all the while they were charging much more than competitors. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional company.

Never received such poor customer…
Never received such poor customer service. The call handler kept talking over wouldn’t even listen to what I say refused to put me through to a manager. I then sent in an email which got a response saying they couldn’t help me and it wasn’t there responsibility to resolve. Use at your peril !! 1 star is to much
£40 exit fee as 2 days out
£40 exit fee as 2 days out, waited to switch and got that - billed me 14p a unit more than the 26p best on the market while i waited.
Won't be back
Un authorised Direct Debits
I am about €2k in credit due to equalizer. After discussing this with them, they agreed to refund €1.5K.
So the refunded it, but 2 days later the took it back. This was followed by a further debit of €1,350.
From online reviews, it seems that this is a regular occurance.
Unless you can afford such loss that may take weeks to get back, don't sign up for direct debits.
Avoid Electric Ireland -fraudster with your bill
just came off the phone with Electric Ireland -
My bill made ABSOLUTELY NO SENCE no explanation of changes. I called twice first person hung up. Second person clueless and guessing. I asked him how much is my actual bill - simple question he couldn't answer. I asked for a refund of the excess credit on my account and he told me to call back in 2days. Told me get a calculator and calculate amounts myself. Don't sign a contract with this company! Their account and billing is a disgrace for Ireland - so bad it's awfully time consuming and stressful. Terrible company.
Don't sign a contract with this company
Don't sign a contract with this company! Their automatic system made a big mess in my account, amounts without explanation (aren't in my bill) are appearing to pay just on the website on online account, the customer service doesn't answer my questions and I'm being overcharged in more than 150 euro without any explanation! I have been trying to solve the issue for over a month. Run away from electric Ireland, don't do this!
An absolute disgrace of a irisih…
An absolute disgrace of a irisih utility organisation/company. Had a significant amount of money taking from my account 2nd of January without authorisation. Trying to bill me when changed from Payg to bill pay. Not one person would take responsibility to it and have been advised by 2 employees of electric ireland to contact my bank to get the money back. Senior management and above need to be brought into question here big time.
Completely and utterly incompetent
Completely and utterly incompetent. Worst energy company out there. After dropping the ball and "forgetting" to register my property, landing me with a year worth of bills in one go due to said incompetence, being unable to correctly set up a payment that was necessary due to their own failure, I'm now unable to pay my mortgage due to being blatantly overcharged despite credits being available on my account. Customer service is less than useless. I will be closing my account and moving three properties to a different supplier. Nothing but hassle since day one. Expensive mistake trusting these *******
Incompetence. Disrespect. Theft.
The single most incompetent organisation I have ever dealt with. They have overcharged me several times and have made a complete mess of my account. They don't charge according to the billing schedule but rather whenever they want. Last night I got a bill for a 10 month period, which is a time period already come, gone and paid for. But I then wake up to another amount money gone out of my bank. They literally reach into your bank account and take random amounts whenever they feel like it as if it were a physical hand forcing it's way into your wallet. They don't understand how to issue direct debits correctly or follow any schedules. Once I have my money back I will be switching energy provider ASAP.

Beware!!!!!!
Electric Ireland don't seem to respond to any of the correspondence entered into by Trustpilot!!!!!!why they are accumulating huge profits from the poor customers.
Examine your dual metre (night/day). You will find they have increased your day time units to ensure they do not loose out. Also yearly rate for single metre is €385-00 and a dual metre €485 -00. Beware!!!! look carefully at Electric Ireland.
Such a time wasting experience as a business customer
Such a time wasting experience setting up a business account with Electric Ireland. Their staff have poor attitude and their “new IT system “ to take the 600 euro deposit you hav to pay alongside your Direct Debit mandate does NOT WORK properly …so they tell you to “post in a cheque” to a PO Box in Little Island, Cork. . At the end of 2023 I don’t have a cheque book. They won’t allow you call out your debit card number over the phone. Staff seemed to me to be as disgruntled as the customers. Very poor experience all round.
I was in contact with Electric Ireland registering new tenant; great service:)…
I was in contact with Electric Ireland a few time over the past days with a view to registering a new tenant in a property of mine. Today I spoke with a representative called Adella and she was extremely efficient and friendly while dealing with me. She is a great example of how to deal with the public. Best wishes Adella and all the staff for a great Chrtistmas

Prepay meters are rip off you should be ashamed of yourselfs!! €15 gone in 1 see day!
Absolute dreadful company to deal with
Absolute dreadful company to deal with. Their staff are terrible, clearly no training whatsoever. I signed up for a standard plan with a standard discount at the time and I have honestly been on the phone about 12 to 14 times since as they have not changed my billing to the correct discount agreed with my plan. I have spoken to account staff, supervisors and managers and all have said they will correct the issue and nothing is done. Also, competitors are offering much better discounts. Definitely regret signing up! DO NOT GO WITH ELECTRIC IRELAND.
Dreadful company
Dreadful company. Total rip off. Have never paid higher than when I was with electric Ireland. Paid bill and moved companies, they billed me 296 for 19 days claiming I owed in excess off 400 units. This despite me sending them monthly readings. Also strange that meter reading they claimed I had used, I havent even reached according to meter.
Joke. Have reported to consumer council. AVOID better out there than these bandits.
Not helping
Electric ireland are telling people they are there to help people pay their high bills. My bills have been well over the 400 euro in the last 2 bills and when i asked for a pay as you go meter i was shifted from one rep to a another just to be told that because i have a smart meter i cannot get pay as you go. How is that helping. It is not.
